I, too, enjoy making goals. I only had 1 written goal in 2017 which was to lose 50 lbs by eating homegrown, non-processed foods. I did not achieve it, so it rolls over into 2018. However, I did cross off some bucket list items: I joined a book club & completed 35 books this year, I hiked the Appalacian Trail (only a day hike but it was one steep climb up the mountain!) and I completed a major work related project. In 2018, I'm going to shed the 50 lbs., become a ham radio operator, pay off my mortgage, put more money into my emergency fund, and stick to my budget!

I'm at 6:00 and something that came to mind ( you and I are so much alike it's nuts!)... if you're not already, be sure to keep a ledger of principle and interest charged. Banks usually work on a 360 day cycle, meaning, every day interest is calculated on the unpaid balance. If you're only paying once a month, you can just do the math based on 30 or 31 days. But if you drop a payment into the account in the middle of the month, you must calculate interest charged up till that point, subtract the payment, and re-figure your balance. And even IF you only make monthly payments, please please- do this task at the end of every month if you are not already. Forgive me if I'm talking below your knowledge base You must keep these scoundrels honest ! Years ago I bought a new tractor and Ford Motor Credit offered a good interest rate, so I financed the machine and paid it off in like 3 years ( I was dropping payments in the middle of the month- just like you). I kept a ledger, as described above. Guess what. When I went to make my last payment, the balance they had was about $1300 more than my math. It was a simple interest loan. When I questioned it, they said they used an "algorithm" to calculate the balance. I said, "lay it on me, I'm a math major". They couldn't (or wouldn't). I contacted an attorney and he told me to write a letter, include a copy of my ledger, and tell them that if they didn't settle the account you'd have them in court. I got a call on a Saturday from some vice president-- very apologetic-- saying how the account was paid in full. But can you imagine. My loan was only $13K. There are farmers who carry $200-300 K on farm equipment --and are getting it stuck to them and probably don't even know it !

I've watched every single video of yours this year and this goal summary was very satisfying for me. You've worked really hard to achieve these goals and you inspire me to do the same. I think I'll write down my 2018 goals, great idea! (I don't know why I've never though of this before) And I'm totally jealous of your slackline! I'd love one but don't have any trees in my yard.

I'd bet a lot of us have watched them all, you have great content! It varies enough to keep people interested, but is still in the same category. There are about 3 channels that I watch regularly and yours is one.

Repairs were the first thing I wondered about, like my stove burner is iffy on a gas stove really need new. Did great getting a used washer and dryer, freezer is iffy. Appliances are always on my watch list. I take stock like this more in "harvest" season, like what did I harvest this year :) I'm totally with you on loving to plant trees. I did okay this year but wow! Wasn't nearly as ambitious as you. Proud of you!

I'm impressed! I did not do nearly as well with my goals!! I've found with me, when I make goals, I have to set the parameters very clearly (I'm thinking of your goal to post twice a week). For example, I have a fitness goal regarding the number of steps I walk per day in December. My goal is very clearly not an average, but a daily total.

I pay extra towards the mortgage principle just about every month. We have had a 30 yr mortgage since we bought the house in 1994. It feels good to pay extra & know it will save us money. A zipline...cool!! Nice going on your goals !

The cost to grow our own food in California makes it cost prohibitive. Water costs a fortune. Plus buying seeds that aren't gmo is pricey. I'm impressed when others can make this work.

Love the backyard fun stuff! Could you show us your setup?? I'm curious about the slack line and zipline, and how you set it up.. using trees? Installed poles? I'd love to add those to my summer goals. (and love the idea of goals in general... need to make some for 2018!) :)

Yes we are and it definitely helps with our mortgage goals. We would not have been able to make anywhere near as big of a dent in it this year if we didn't have that apartment.
