Hearing Chevy say that he made a big mistake leaving SNL is kinda sweet. He's known for having a high opinion of himself, so hearing him admit that he was wrong is like peak character development for Chevy. Right on. Martin was a uniquely gifted talent. A hero of comedy back when I was in high school... it's hard to believe he's pushing 80 now. There were other 'funny guys', and all of them good. But Martin was different. He was the first comic that I can remember filling Huge auditoriums, like a rock star. He wasn't mocking politicians, or saying "My wife's cooking is so bad... " he was Fresh.. Original.. and damn funny, without being graphic. (Not that there's anything wrong with that, but some use it as a crutch.) If there's a Mt. I've watched SNL since the beginning , and I feel that the years with Dana Carvey and Phil Hartman had the most consistently funny skits.

Couldn't agree more! Absolutely love and loved Dana! He, in my opinion, was so much more talented that Mike and I still don't know how Mike blew up and Dana didn't.

Honoring SNL without Bill Murray is like honoring Knots Landing or Dynasty without Donna Mills or Joan Collins only because they weren't part of the original cast. They made those shows.

It’s true that John and Gilda brought the danger to the show with what they were willing to do. It’s a shame what they suffered with. I wish they were both here today. So glad this cast was given this honor. They had to take their humble experience of improv and the influence of Monty Python and Laugh-In, and create a whole new experience…on live TV!!

They knew they had it from the jump. Knew it was the right show at the right time. Show just oozed with Swag and Confidence. Drawing all the then college kids from across the East Coast. Who'd never before even CONSIDERED a job writing comedy. SNL an Arnold and a Sly in its' own right. A philosophy. A religion. Comedy is a Religion.
