Notice alert for any current or potential 2018 Honda Pilot EX-L customers: I bought a brand new 2018 Honda Pilot EX-L V6 model vehicle about a month ago. After a week of driving, I noticed a slight vibration coming from the lower driver seat area that ran into the bottom of the steering wheel. It's a slight faint vibration that happens intermittently. Some may feel it and others may not. Took it to two Honda service departments and one service advisor told me he has experienced a similar vibration on his Honda civic. At the other shop, the service manager couldn't even hear it or feel the vibration but when his master mechanic took it for a drive, he noticed the slight vibration and determined it was probably related to the VCM (I'm glad I wasn't losing my mind). No fix needed at this point. I'm still driving the vehicle and it's fully functional with no warning lights on the dash. I really like the vehicle so I guess I'll stick with it and see what happens in the future or if Honda provides some kind of an update. This video describes VCM very well -----> kzbin.info/www/bejne/qnq9gWNmZ5mmqqc By the way, I contacted and filed a complaint with American Honda to which the Honda representative had no clue what I was describing? I don't understand when the issue is all over the internet and I believe there's a class action lawsuit pending if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, my case is still open with American Honda until further notice. I traded in my 2010 Honda Accord with 180K miles which by the way, I never had any issues with so hopefully this Honda Pilot will reach 100K? Please share your experience with any vibration on your 2015 and newer Honda vehicle,; I'd like to hear your experience. Thanks SD Pilot

Hi, Hollister! (sp?) Love your vids! I'm researching SUVs since I'm in the market for one, and I just came across your vid! Very informative! On a funny side, though...at 4:03, you made this funny face while trying to get out of the back seat. Just want to make sure you're alright! lol :) Keep up the great videos! Subscribed!

Close Jonathan, just Hollis. Though some friends call me Hollister as a nickname. Also, I can't believe you notice my dumb face at that point, I tried so hard to cover it in editing and this was the best I could do hahah. I'm fine, I don't know why I did that lol. Thanks for your subscription!

Bought ours a week ago, got the same color EXL but light grey leather interior. Never drove a vehicle that rode high like it before and getting use to use, I like it. We've been getting looks from people too, it looks really good. Anyway, I was wondering, what kind and type of pants are those? I'm looking for a rugged chino khaki pants but not sure what. I got some Dockers Alpha Khakis and they've been great, just wondering which ones you have on? LOL. Thanks.

@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup8 жыл бұрын
The speedometer is fine, that is just our camera adjusting it's lighting focus which makes it looks that way.

I like the size of this vehicle but concerned that JDPower ranks it last in class with Highlander top. Which one would you choose??
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup8 жыл бұрын
Honestly it depends on your personal preference. I like the size and looks of the Highlander (it is ever so slightly smaller than the Pilot), but getting in them yourself you may feel the total opposite. Both vehicles are very well built, reliable means of transport for you and your family for years to come.

Lecidude Yeah I don't know if I can trust J.D anymore, How can you rate a GMC over a Honda? I stopped trusting C.R and probably now J.D.

great review...question why does these newer hondas have this humming sound around 55-70 mph? is it what you described that the engine can go from 3-6 cylinders?
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup6 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I'm not entirely sure to be completely honest. I drive a CR-V everyday on the highway to/from work and haven't noticed a humming noise. There is tire and road noise that makes it's way into the cabin, perhaps that's what you are hearing in the video? As for the cylinder deactivation, it is imperceptible. The only indication is an Eco light that will illuminate on some Honda models with that feature.
@SportbikeUnitedRiderz6 жыл бұрын
I just bought a brand new 2018 Honda Pilot and it gives off a humming/vibrating sound around the speeds I'd mentioned (no steering shakes of any kind). I've spoken to several people (one with a 2018 Civic), even one tech Honda person at the dealer and they all mentioned the buzzing sound within those speeds. I'm planning to call Honda American to inquire and also plan to take the vehicle to my local Honda service and drive with one of the mechanics. My vehicle had 9 miles and now 1500 and it makes the buzzing sound on and off. Never below 50-55 mph. Weird. If anybody else has heard this buzzing/humming sound, please share. Thanks

Could be the aluminum hood buzzing / vibration flutter. Cause of flutter = 70 mph winds

Why is the last window chrome blue?
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup7 жыл бұрын
Haha good eye, that is because when these arrive from Honda, all of the chrome is wrapped to protect it. Service missed that piece of plastic when it was delivered to our dealership.

Why does the pilot require awd in order to tow more than 3500 lbs? What role does the awd play in the towing? The highlander will tow 5000 lbs with the fwd. Why the difference between these two?
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup6 жыл бұрын
I must say, you have posed a good challenge here. I have read some of both Honda and Toyota's spec releases to try to find something to share, but have come up empty handed unfortunately. Honda only says that you can pull up to 5,000 lbs with the AWD Pilot when equipped with a transmission cooler. My only thought on this is that perhaps there is not an option to hook a trans. cooler up to the 2WD units, but that is complete speculation. If I run across anything more definitive I will share it here for everyone!
@allenschneider18476 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. I wondered if it had something to do with the gear ratio on the different models, but no one has confirmed this. Interestingly, honda sales team don't seem to know either! Unfortunately this requirement raises the cost on the towing option for honda. I think too that toyota exl and higher comes standard with larger radiator and transmission cooler. But, I like the space offered by the honda. What I want is pilot space, highlander tech, and pathfinder msrp.

In time I'm sure Honda will introduce the new volume knob on the 2017 CR-V to the rest of the lineup.
@the1reef.2438 жыл бұрын
David Hillbrand You don't need to slide the volume knob, what I do is tap spam the volume knob. It's pretty responsive when you spam it. Pretty good infotainment especially the AppleCarplay, is so useful. Also if you live in Canada, probably best to buy the EXL RES.

what is that bump on the ceiling?

Are you talking about the bump in the very right rear corner? If so I'm not entirely sure, hadn't noticed it until you just mentioned it. Maybe an owner can chime in??

If your talking about the little bump on the back that's the antenna , all newer 2009+ have that instead of the regular standard antenna @Seth Morris
@joethebet71777 жыл бұрын
Hey man, I have a question. Here in Canada, EXL has only 2 options: Navi and RES. Can't decide between the two. Would you recommend going with RES bcoz of DVD, Scree, and sunshades or is Navi really worth it? Is Carplay enough for Navigation? Let me know your opinion. Thanks
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup7 жыл бұрын
I'll start by saying this is straight personal opinion. I myself drive a CR-V with CarPlay/Android Auto which I opted for over the Honda Nav. as I prefer the up to date traffic/directions provided through Apple/Google over the built-in unit. It seems like you would get the best of both worlds by getting an EX-L RES and utilizing CarPlay. The one downside to using CarPlay/Android Auto vs. Honda Nav. - the Honda Nav. will work anywhere, the other systems are using your smartphone so if you are without signal, you are without directions. Just something to keep in mind.
@joethebet71777 жыл бұрын
between the two would you go nav or res?
@GrapponeAutomotiveGroup7 жыл бұрын
Personally, I would go with the EX-L RES since I have a perfectly good cell signal where I am and I use CarPlay.
