hi sir i have a question before changing the valve did you get a problem which air pressure come out of the oil cap while engine is on?
@PaulNaylor33 күн бұрын
I never noticed that.

Thanks for the video. I have been having excessive oil consumption issues with my 2017 Elantra, so I am going to try this.

You’re welcome. When I changed the PCV valve it immediately helped my oil consumption. I then began using the Lucas oil stabilizer and it helped also. amzn.to/3XuBRpF

My 2018, same motor, has 141k on it. Been a great car. I've noticed a bit more oil consumption as well. I bought the pcv valve yesterday...now I gotta change it! Great video!

Thank you. I hope the pcv valve change helps you out.

Well done! Are you able to explain why you are changing it? Preventative?
@PaulNaylor37 ай бұрын
I’m having to add some oil in between oil changes and doing some research on that subject this was the first thing that came up as a possible fix.

The PCV system allows for cleaner exhaust, prevents blowby at seals and gaskets, removes crankcase gasses generated by the combustion process that will sludge up and destroy the engine if left unchecked, and allows the engine to run more efficiently thus creating better fuel mileage!

@@PaulNaylor3how much oil were you losing? My Elantra is perhaps midway on the dipstick halfway through service interval, but I have only 44k miles on the car
@PaulNaylor32 ай бұрын
You are on pace to lose an entire quart of oil per service interval with low mileage so I would definitely recommend changing this since it’s so cheap to do. Before I changed my PCV valve at over 146k miles I was losing 2/3 of a quart for every thousand miles driven. After changing the PCV valve I was losing 1/3 of a quart for every thousand miles driven. On my last oil change I used some oil stabilizer and I am still in the evaluation process but I can say that the oil consumption is now less than 1/5 quart per 1000 miles driven. I enjoy watching updates on the Hyundai. How's the Elantra holding up at 146K. I just did my first oil change from when I purchased my vehicle. It has 28K The maintenance manual recommends chaining the oil every 3750 miles. I plan to follow all maintenance at the specified milage and see how many miles I can get out of it. I'm hoping to get over 200K

I’m glad you are enjoying the videos. Your most important maintenance item is your oil change and second is the transmission fluid. If you’re using full synthetic motor oil a 5000 mile change interval would be good and I would recommend a 30,000 mile change interval for your transmission fluid. When you say the manual recommended a 3750 mile oil change interval did they specify synthetic oil? The reason I ask is since synthetic oil became available I’ve never seen it recommended more than every 5000 miles. I hope you enjoy your vehicle and it is rewarding to take care of a vehicle and see it stay reliable for a long period of time so I hope you experience that.

I have 141k on my 2018. It's a manual transmission, same engine. The 2.0. Been a super dependable car. Love it. I maintain it well and always check my oil.. I should be able to get 200k without much trouble I would think.

Does changing this help with oil leaks?
@PaulNaylor33 ай бұрын
It can help with oil consumption, not leaks, which may be what you are asking. This did reduce my oil consumption a lot.
