2017 Kia Sorento SXL V6 AWD: Test Drive

I own this vehicle. An excellent, and comfortable ride. It has 2 way lumbar driver's seat, along with a motorized seat extender for driver's seat. Seating is luxurious, and it has a feature of an automatic voice notification stating curve ahead when the vehicle approaches a curve in the road. It has so much equipment it comes with 2 owner's manual. I rate it 10/10.

Test drove the SXL today. It's a great car, period. My only issue is the front cup holders are small. We carry water bottles in our cars and this isn't adjustable at all. Minor issue, otherwise quiet ride, infotainment and all other knobs and buttons are simple to locate. By the way, you can get the price way down into the low 40's on the SXL.

Awesome overall review of the vehicle as always. I have had one of these for 3 mths and back up all your claims of an an excellent vehicle. Here in Alberta Canada we have had one nasty winter and the Sorento has been great in the deep snow and icy roads. The switch gear feels as good an any out there as well as fit and finish, bang for your buck I do not think you could out do it .

Traded in our Mercedes on a Kia a few years ago. The difference in quality was astounding. The Kia was everything the Merc was supposed to be but wasn't. Kia is making brilliant cars that are worth every cent you pay for them. The Germans should be shitting themselves.

great review! a couple notes on the infotainment system... did you have the surround sound turned on? it makes a huge difference in audio quality... also, i agree that the standard voice control is probably the thing i dislike most about this vehicle, it's worse than my wife's 2013 optima ex, but if you use android auto or apple carplay then it works great...

Great job Mark! Way to go. Many don't know that the manufacturer's sale price is negotiable, but you have to do your homework. Mine was factory new but I believe I still got a great deal. Yours is better. If I could have found that in the options I wanted I would have jumped. Happy driving.

I wish you would have done the test you used to do with 2 wheels up in the air to see the power transfer performance. My own experience with the Dynamax AWD system has been falling quite a bit shorter than Kia's marketing promise.

B B a fully loaded sxl is about 45k and on Edmund's you can get deals for 38k

Mine was $47K. The Range Rover I trade in for it was $52 two years prior. However, the lease deal on the Range Rover was 36 months at 670 month. $5000 down. However, on the Kia, more luxurious believe it or not, drives better, handles better, yet I got 36months , 0 down at 430 a month with 15k miles vs. the ROVERS 12K. If you get past the Kia badge, which is actually a very good one, this might be the car. Enjoy.

I have an Optima. Love that car. I had the same question? A KIA? But now I feel vindicated, when CR puts them ahead of the camrys and accords. The question you should ask yourself is, if you remove the badge away, and test drive and compare this with say a MDX, which one would be buy based on just quality, features, comfort, warranty etc...If on a badge-blind test, you like the Sorento, but that badge is coming in the way, I'll call you a Badge Snob. Get over it.

B B I guess it depends on your locale. I own this vehicle sxl fully loaded without split satellite screen on touchscreen for backup camera. I paid 41,000.00 with puddle lights, mud flaps, and privacy cover for rear compartment. Hallen Kia, North Olmsted Ohio. I made an internet request purchase. All negotiations were completed before I entered the showroom. Quick, simple, and painless. I hope this helps. And yes my vehicle was listed at 47,800.00, so negotiations are a must. Out the door at 41,000.00

Worst car I've ever owned! Transmission went at 18k and it's been problem after problem since. Rear differential, transfer case, panoramic sunroof, navigation, mirrors, drivers seat have all been replaced
