Just turned 9,000 flawless miles on my 2016 . I also have modded the F out of it with a Stage -5 Rottweiler Kit. If you take traction control completely off, you will need a rear tire every 2-weeks. Iam 47 and have never ridden such an amazing machine. The torque is mind blowing. I don’t ever see myself without a 1290-R

Numbers cant describe the joy to ride that motorcycle. I wasnt a ktm fan until i tested more than 1 hour thath bike in twisties, highway... this bike is all i love. Great twin sound ( sometimes harleyish ) huuuge torque, amazing style, confortable as f, god mode front brakes witch send you to the moon... i tested the new gsxr 1000 r just before. Man i will work and keep my money to buy that bike, there is no price for a permanent smile in your face

I'll never forget the day me and 5 other guys took a group ride from Chicago out west to the Mississippi River. 2 superdukes in the group. Also a vrod, a motoguzzi, and a dude on a ninja 650. When we hit the hilly, curvy sections it ended up being me on my 2010 z1000 or a 70 year old man on a motoguzzi standard out front. A quarter mile back I could just catch sight of the first Duke coming out of a corner as I entered the next one, and it eventually got passed by the vrod. The second Duke was never close enough to get in my mirror even as a spec, and the guy actually gave up and went home before we made it to galena. I dont really care if you own a brand new cbr1000rr-r sp or a 1980s harely FXR. If you can't ride you'll never keep up with bikes that are certainly slower on paper

I once rode the 1290R, the 2014 model. I had no experience with it, and the first gear only took me to 82kmph. I was shocked as other bikes go way above 140kmph. And then it dawned on me. This bike is a torquey monster. A MONSTER! When I opened the throttle I could feel the entire earth spin back as the bike skyrocketed. If I ever want to suicide and yet want the death to be fun, I would readily hop on to this bike. Its the best bike I've ever ridden.

great video. thanks. i own the 2016 super duke. i cannot imagine more power because in my experience, the bike is already overpowered. i accelerate from let's say 70 to 140mph in what seems like one second (yes probably more, but), the front wheel is just barely touching the ground despite leaning all the way forward, so how can you steer? i live in LA, horrible freeways. maybe that's my issue. but part of the fun of owning it IS accelerating and i just always feel i am close to crashing (and in that case, dying) when i accelerate the way it's meant to be ridden. like a friend recently pointed out, it's like a KTM moto cross bike with 180 hp. not built for speed! but who knows, i am also not a race driver and other racers will probe me wrong. maybe i need to put in a track day to learn more. thanks for allowing me to comment.

Regarding the tft screen, I'm having the same opinion, looking at the screens on the Super Adventure 1290 2017 and even on the smaller 125 or 390 duke, the screen on the SDR is not even comparable, and I hope it will change for the production model or it will be changed if the Performance Pack will be selected (having KTM My Ride maybe will switch the TFT screen). Other than that, the other elephant in the room is the tail, or the lack or the tail fairings wich from some angles make the bike look very narrow and kind of wierd. Hope there will be some Power Part available to mend that "problem". Saw the bike at EICMA, it looks amazing.

I would LOVE to do that, but unfortunately I just do not have access to these bikes to make first ride reviews :( Maybe some day. No plans on upgrading my 600 anytime soon, but I will be getting another bike by next season to either replace the vfr or be an added bike.
