Compete with the Audi A series? Almost all cars are A series by Audi. A1/2/3/4/5/7/8. They all have them. You meant A4. The pedal shifters belong onto the steering column, because in this case you always know which way is up and which way is downshift.
@chadhaire17115 жыл бұрын
Your comment about the paddle shifters is absurd. It doesn't matter if the column shifters allow the driver to know which way is up and down if you can't reach them, and when taking corners and turning the steering wheel, you can't reach them, only reached when driving in a straight line, which makes them useless when driving on twisty mountain curves. Further more, you ALSO always know which is up and down with paddles mounted on the steering wheel as well anyway unless someone is too stupid to tell their left hand from the right hand. That is why 95% of car makers put them on the steering wheel where they belong, and the remaining 5% put on the column for LOOKS, PADDLE SHIFTERS BELONG ON THE WHEEL.
@Frostakasilk5 жыл бұрын
chad haire sorry. I didn‘t know you will react so sensitive. Anyway, I am not sure if you have ever sat in for example the Giulia from Alfa Romeo. If yes, then you will know that the paddles are so big that you can easily reach them. But most importantly, we don‘t change gears while cornering. We NEVER change gear while cornering. So, after all it is absolutely unimportant if you reach them or not while cornering. Just because you make a youtube video, doesn‘t naturally mean that you are correct about everything. Accept it. Everyrhing I wrote was meant to be a positive critic for the next time. Hopefully I could help.
@chadhaire17115 жыл бұрын
@@Frostakasilk Again you are 100% WRONG. The idea you never shift gears while cornering is nonsense. That is taught for race car drivers on race tracks because you are supposed to shift before you enter a turn because you always enter at max speed. It means NOTHING on the street. I test cars for a living--you do not. I tests cars on tight mountain roads with tight curves--as in CORNERS---as in CORNERING--and I can assure you that changing gears in S turns (do you know what as S Turn is?) where the cars speed can vary from 15-45 mph at each turn the transmission WILL be shifting in corners. On a 15 mile hard cornering drive the car will be shifted hundreds of times if put in the sport automatic mode, so how do you figure it will be shifted any less in the manual paddle shift mode? It can't and wont. And driving on a road like that, IN CORNERS, the column paddle shifters CANNOT be reached while the steering wheel is turned, and that INCLUDES the Giulia, while on the steering wheel they can. In short: A. You DO shift gears in corners B. Paddles on the steering column CANNOT be reached when doing so. c. That is why 95% of cars makers DO NOT put on the column but on the wheel where they belong. d. My facts CANNOT be disputed, which is why you certainly COULD NOT do so. e. You are free to try try again, but hopefully do better as you are looking very foolish. The fact that you are watching a Lexus video instead of my Alfa Romeo videos says something too. I just posted an Alfa video last week--if you are going to talk about Al;fa why are we watching a Lexus..LOL.
@Frostakasilk5 жыл бұрын
chad haire you really can‘t take any critic, can you? Please stop being so sensitive and personal. You aren‘t looking very professional. I commented on this video, because I have just seen this video. What else have you thought? I don‘t follow your channel, so obviously I couldn‘t seen all your videos. I have seen this video because I own a Lexus IS350. Great car, apart from the paddle shifters, which are at the wrong place. I am happy to acknowledge that you test cars for living, but it doesn‘t necessarily makes you a good driver. Even on a twisty road, you change gears between the corners and not in them. You change the gears and reach to the paddles when you are closing the steering angle and not when you are opening. They are easy to reach in the Giulia if you do so. I am always happy to help you.
@chadhaire17115 жыл бұрын
@@Frostakasilk A. I dont need to take a critic when they are 100% wrong. You think you are the first Goober to bring up the paddle shifter debate? You are 100% WRONG as I explained. B. "on a twisty road you change gears between corners not in them". This statement is totally ignorant. I asked you earlier if you know what S-Turns are--now we know you do not. On S-Turns roads you CANNOT shift between corners because you are NEVER out of a corner, just transferring from one speed to another,. This is simple enough for a 5 year old to understand. C. In S-Turns the automatic transmission shifts hundred of times on a 15 mile road, yet you are suggesting it is not proper to do so manually, which is total nonsense. If the car is going form a long 40 mph corner to a slower 15 mph corner, the gearbox HAS to downshift and from a 15 mph to 40 mph turn has to UPSHIFT. You CANNOT do this manually with paddle shifters on the steering column bacsue they can't be reached. D. Using paddle shifters while driving in a straight line is pointless. A well designed automatic gearbox will ALWAYS shift quicker than any manual shifter, especially a fine dual clutch German design. E. You obviously do not understand what paddles are for in the first place.... the entire point is to allow the driver to keep BOTH HANDS on the steering wheel while driving in any direction, INCLUDING taking corners, yet give the ability to manually shift without taking a hand off the wheel....which can be done if the paddles are by your finger tips ON THE WHEEL. Can't always be done if on the steering column...PERIOD. That is why most car engineers put them on the wheel. Why don't you try asking them..they agree with me, you wont find one agreeing with you. Italians put them on the column for LOOKS...it impresses the dummies who like seeing large shiny objects in the cabin..the same morons who put those crappy 24-inch chrome wheels with one inch of rubber on the rims. F. Bottom line-----I have been doing this a lot longer than you---- you have no idea what you are talking about. And it shows--big time. LOL

I'm planning to buy a used 2017 IS200t F-Sport sometime soon. I've been really into these cars lately & I got to the point where I gotta have one. I currently drive a 2015 Toyota Camry XSE V6 that I've had for 3 1/2 year, but been wanting to upgrade to a compact sports sedan for a while & the Lexus IS is by far my #1 pick. I originally wanted the IS350, but those are pretty expensive, especially when new. But even though I prefer a V6 over a Turbo 4 for the sound, this one doesn't sound too bad & it's pretty quiet, plus I listen to music all the time while driving.

I’ve seen used ones starring at $25K with about 20K miles. You’re basically buying a Lexus with low mileage for the same price a new Camry cost

@@pigeon1519 I actually bought a used 2017 IS200t F-Sport (gray exterior, red interior, 15k miles) 7 months ago for only $27,500 & it's been perfect so far. Huge improvement over my Camry. The turbo engine has more than enough power & it's very quiet & smooth, handling is agile as expected (much more than my Camry), the seats are aggressive & very comfortable & the ride is better than I expected (it actually rides better than my Camry did). I paid $1k less for it than my Camry when I bought it new. Overall a lot of car for the money.

German cars are designed to go 4 years 50,000 miles--then the warranty expires and the car expires with $$$ repair bills. If you are going to do "long term" ownership in a BMW you MUST get the extended 6 year 100,000 miles warranty! I think it costs about $2500+ in USA dealers but well worth it. But the Lexus should run forever with not many issues. Drive fast? BMW. Drive reliable? Get Lexus....If you want to go fast and reliable look at my Lexus RC coupe videos.
