I know a bloke with a huge farm who had 3 79 series landcruisers.He sold them all and bought 6 mahindra Pik ups 2017 models.4 4x4s and 2 x 2wds......They live entirely off road....All have well in excess of 150000 ks on them now,all regularly carry more than the landcruisers could all are rock solid and reliable with good dealer coverage ...In fact he's aiming to get 6 more in a couple of years ( tax reasons) and loves them to bits.easy to work on and that mechanical diff lock is an absolute legend.The 2 wds are as good as the 4x4s off road if your not doing stupid shit like climbing over rocks or ploughing through mud up to the windscreen.etc as a workhorse they are great and great value.The reason they are cheap is because Mahindra has huge economies of scale....Mahindra is much bigger than most four wheel drive companies

I am sorry,but the old models are much better,the old model has more ground clearance,more suspension travel for better wheel articulation,better off highway handling and is also a better field master,if you are a real truck guy or a car guy like me then you must like the looks of the old one more than the new one,just black headlights don't decide the beauty of the truck ,body styling matters,also the old model had better fuel economy,more streamlined design,badder hard rests on each seat .our relatives have a 2006 4x4 model,they bought a new generation Scorpio thinking it to be more advanced,but they sold it off within 2 months,both had diff locks but the old one was as good as a ford ranger but the new one performed very bad,also it has a bad crash test rating of 0,but even though the 2006 model has no airbags,it still has 2 star rating ,also the old model is more durable and reliable and can do 3,00,000km and above as our relatives model has made it
@DutchmanSeb4 жыл бұрын
@@pratyushbiswas7582 nice to hear a compelling story, usually the older models are tougher and built better, newer models have to comply with more stringent regulations, environmental factors and cost factors for material usage. Also crash test regulations changes each year and become more difficult to pass with a higher rating, as they include more difficult protocols including crash avoidance systems and child protection as well as vulnerable road user crash avoidance and protection.

Mate......nice video, if you are looking for a townies 4X4 review....get it off road, thrash it and see what it can really do? That is what a prospective buyer wants to know....how will it perform in the mud, on the sand and in the bush :-)
@DutchmanSeb6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback Tom, we unfortunately only had the car for a week, so it's difficult to test out all different conditions, we did however test it in the sand on soft sand dunes, but unfortunately it doesn't have a low range gearbox, so it struggled a bit until we lowered the tyre pressures. The Mahindra pick up is more of a workhorse and not an off road toy, so I thought the setting and test drive scenario was a more practical approach to what the vehicle is intended to be used for. I friend owns one here in nepal. And he already has a crack in the chasis without facing any major accidents.
@DutchmanSeb6 жыл бұрын
Hi there, this can be due to many reasons, such as inappropriate use, overloading, incorrect tyre inflation to absorb bumps and pot holes, corrosion due to corrosive environment, scratches or damages to the bodies paint protection. The vehicle has a manufacturer warranty to cover these, he should contact the local dealer and make a booking to have it repaired, it will be covered under the warranty. This sort of thing can happen with any brand, Mahindra have been a proven manufacturer of industrial applications for years.

@DutchmanSeb6 жыл бұрын
I agree completely, but this is not a Hilux competitor. It's a worke horse, not a luxury off road vehicle. It's far cheaper as well than the Hilux and thus offers good value for money. The Hilux would be a comoetitor for Ford Ranger, Mazda BT50, VW Amarok, Nissan Nazara, Fiat Fullback etc. This is more of a conpetitor against GWM as a budget pick up / bakkie.
@pratyushbiswas75826 жыл бұрын
Man even I am an Indian ,but the Toyota Hilux is more better, Toyota Hilux is also a workhorse,it is used by all farmers through out the world ,and also the hilux performs better off the road than the Mahindra truck as I had experienced it,also it is used more by the UN .i am not saying it it is bad ,In fact my mom has one and it performs good and it is also better than many new soccer mom SUVs out their.but both the hilux and the Scorpio has front independent suspension,so they are rivals of each other ,but I would say the Toyota is better and the best pickup available,if you are going with the boxy looks then compare it with a 70 series land cruiser,no one in India has knowledge of truck just like me .but ya in off-road capabilities,it is better than the Honda pickup and the modern land rovers with annoying electronic,the Mahindra is just a basic no nonsense value of money 4x4 truck in the list of all the 4x4 trucks available in the world from ford to Chevy to Toyota to Mitsubishi to Nissan to dodge etc etc etc
@pratyushbiswas75826 жыл бұрын
Also in India I had seen the cheap Isuzu dmax beating a Scorpio,but here the Scorpio has no diff locks ,so I guess both will perform same if the Scorpio gets a diff lock,but still the Japanese 4x4s rules the list of all 4x4 s
