Thanks for the detailed video. Superb job! I think I'm releasing my interest in the Levante in favor of this Ghibli S Q4. I even favor this S Q4 over the BMW X6 xDrive50i V8, and in the standard 0-60 test the V8 only wins by 0.1 seconds over this S Q4. I can live with that, and it sure says something special about the Maserati engineers and that Ferrari plant where this S Q4 engine is built. However, I'm aware they are separate classes of vehicles with different dimensions, but they both are on my list of possible vehicles.

Hi, Great review.. beautiful car.. I test drove the standard Maserati Ghibli a few weeks ago.. gorgeous.. however, I decided to buy the Mercedes C43 AMG with Premium Plus Package instead.. it was a tough decision.. as I love this car.. what's your thoughts on the C43?

You know, I have yet to drive really any modern mercedes. I will say this though, their styling is very unique as well. Bringing back the old style interior with the circular vents, and modernizing the interior with new amentities is awesome. Hope to get my hands on some new mercedes soon. The CLA45 really intrigues me and I want to play around with the 4 cylinder. On another note, just reviewed a '17 Quattroporte today and video will be coming out tonight. Appreciate your compliment on the video!

sgfreak96 Hey.. thanks for the reply. I agree.. what Mercedes is doing at the moment is phenomenal. The interior and depth of quality is breath taking. The exterior is also gorgeous.. but I don't think they yet have that special aesthetic invoked by an Italian car such as the Maserati. If you can, please try and get hold of a high spec C43 AMG for a video review.. I bought one over Maserati so you may enjoy. 0-60 in 4.6 seconds... comfort and quality too.. I will look out for the Quattroporte video tonight... another awesome car.

Hi John ... yes ... I picked it up only yesterday ... from Plymouth in the U.K. ... which meant a 220 mile first drive home in it ... I'm really happy with it ... it's a fantastic car ... I think I made the right decision ... I'm pleased you liked your test drive of the C43 ... they are amazing ... that said, the Maserati is a fantastic car ... and they are offering some great deals ... it's definitely the better looking car ... I think to match the spec of the Mercedes C43 I would have been looking at 20k in options ... it was a really hard choice though ... when you picking up your Maserati?

I'm looking to buy one of these now in the UK and can pick up a 2017 model for about 15k. That just goes to show, never buy a brand new car if you are paying cash! Wait until it's 3 to 4 year old to avoid most of the depreciation.

Unfortunately Maserati experiences some of the worst depreciation of any brand. It’s nuts. Other car brands can do much better but I agree. Many people still want a new car though for peace of mind and warranty.

Here's my question that I haven't seen floated around: As far as pre-owned market, I'm looking at 2017 Ghibli S Q4's and 2017 Giulia Quadrofoglio's, and the Giulia seems to be more expensive that what I would consider to be a more exclusive Ghibli S Q4. I guess my question would be some discussion about why would someone look into the Alfa Giulia Quadrofoglio when the Ghibili seems to be such a bargain given depreciation history of the Ghibli, aside from someone just prefering the Giulia due to preferences in presentation (as I would consider to be subjective rather than an objectionable comparison between the two). Thanks!

The Quadrifoglio, while being more exclusive, is a much much faster vehicle. It uses the same ZF-8 transmission, but is lighter weight, and has a completely different engine, a 2.9L Twin Turbo V6 that makes about 505hp. The Quadrifoglio is also RWD as opposed to the Ghibli SQ4's AWD system. Test drive both though, while they may seem like similar cars, they serve very different purposes. Sure they can both be used for daily driving, but the Ghibli is more luxury/cruising, while the Quadrifoglio is meant for someone who likes to really have fun behind the wheel, and wants to push the car to its limits.

I see. Thanks so much for the quick compare/contrast of the two vehicles. Like another comment that's below, I think a more appropriate comparison would be between the Ghibli and the C43 AMG, which I was also looking at. Plus, I think I'd prefer a more well-rounded vehicle for my, 'Daily' and maybe a 1-series convertible, the 124 Spider Abarth or Miata for a fun, sports car. For now, the KTM RC 390 will have to suffice regarding my need for a 'sportier' experience. Thanks, again!

Absolutely, I'm glad I could provide some insight that was of value. At the very least, I recommend you drive either the Ghibli or Quadrifoglio if you have the chance. They are great cars, and the Quadrifoglio especially blew me away. I have a review of that car as well if you'd like to check it out! Also nice bike!

Brendan B I don't have to say anything. Peter is literally the whole reason I'm able to drive these cars. If he never gave me a chance to drive them, I'd have 0 experience or proof of concept when I go to review other high end cars. He trusted my word that the videos would be good and he let me, a 19 year old kid, drive some very expensive cars!

Todd Allen I have not had the chance to yet but that is certainly a goal. I've been lucky enough to have some experience with Rolls Royces, however right now I have no connections to any RR cars unfortunately. Hope to someday, they are the best cars in the world.
