In this video I am showing how to change the engine oil on a 2017 Mercedes GLS by using an extractor pump

Very nice presentation, I’ve been using an extractor for years and it’s safer and clears out more debris than draining from underneath. Faster, too. On the oil brand, I have much better luck and longevity with Amsoil European. I do change the Mann filter at 5000 miles but I routinely get 10,000 miles plus on the ASSYST system on my 2017.

I always use the extractor when a vehicle has the oil filter in the engine compartment. Just for the ease factor. I also agree about Amsoil

Well that settles it. I'm getting an extractor pump. Especially with this filter on the top, it will make changing oil on my wife's car pretty easy. A few weird things about this vehicle I noticed: the coolant reservoir sits inside another plastic container awkwardly. First time I saw it I thought it was broken. Second, the dipstick alluded me on a cursory glance. Really weird spot, way back by the firewall. Thanks for sharing this video!

Great video, thanks! If you get the chance to change the cabin air filters (3) & engine filters... Can you record how to change those too... BIG THANKS!

hey! I understand that its super easy to take the oil out of the top. I would ay just change the crush washer and bold on the oil pan every 2 or 3 oil changes to make sure its not loose, or broken, Just a suggestion. Thanks!

Great advice, I fully agree. I personally do every 3rd or 4th oil change do the oil change from the drain plug under the car

there should be a filter cap adapter to use torque wrench

thanks, I need to know how to evacuate the oil from the bottom of pan directly
@786Garage4 жыл бұрын
same steps except in your case you would have to unplug the pan drain plug and let the oil pan drain out. Not hard to find as long as you could get under the vehicle. Hope that helps

@786Garage3 жыл бұрын
I have owned it for three years and zero issues. But I’m a car fanatic and take care of them. If you do the maintenance according to schedule you should be good. It’s reliable vehicle and of course very luxury/ comfortable

How or where do you dispose of the old oil?
@786Garage3 жыл бұрын
At the local auto parts store. The big brand stores have to recycle it free of charge. Use the same oil jug. Just drop it off there. Very easy

Dont use that brand guys dont get stp brand fliter get the best for your car mobile 1 brand fliter. Dont be cheap believe me u wanna keep ur luxury with good brand maintenance u already saving by doing it urself come on....if u put cheap parts u dont deserve a luxury car. But keep in mind if u have high mileage put HIGHMILE oil.. the fliter check it every oil change if it look dirty replace it!.also I highly recommend K&N filter they are washable and u put it back on and re-use it..they are perfect when it comes to saving money that will be the last filter u will buy..u have to spend more to save more in the long run ..but go ahead n be cheap watch ur car run bad n cause other issues later on down the road....i agree with him!...mobile 1 is a very GoOD OIL...is the best I use it on my cars. I make sure i take care of my cars cause it takes care of me .
@786Garage4 жыл бұрын
I do agree with you on using the best filter but that filter was the premium STP not the regular filter. I also don't do the oil change myself for savings and because I can't afford it, I do it because I'm a "gear head" and enjoy working on my cars. Been doing these things since my teenage years. Again I do agree that if you gonna own a luxury car you have to take care off it with the best products. Thanks
@1llest82 жыл бұрын
lol the K&N filters that are washable are the engine air filter/ intake. Not your oil filter. You really gonna wash your old oil filter? On Euro cars, I usually just use MANN filters. It looks like this gentleman does his oil changes in shorter intervals than the recommended 10k. As long as he is changing the filters with every oil change. It should all be the same.
@PresidentEvil3 жыл бұрын
this method is not good, it does not allow the oil to drain naturally from the bottom so it will not get the sludge and heavy metals at the bottom of the oil pan
@nathanc57893 жыл бұрын
Weird.. Been using this method since 2007 on nearly 25 vehicles. Never had issues. From new to 200k+ miles

That's enough for anyone to call you on it.
