One of the most thorough reviews I have seen and answered many questions. Thanks for making this video!!! One question, do you know if the QV engine has a pully tensioner these days??? I would get my belts replaced on my 02 3.5 SE Altima and 2 weeks later had to go get the belts tightened due to squeaking once broken in a bit. That was soooo annoying. Have they fixed this since then?

Beautiful and great vehicle. One thing thing that caught my eye was the rear heated seats as you mentioned and a electronic parking break. I'm not one for a lot of tech in my vehicle but being a top of the line Platinum model and it's price, it should have these things. Great review.

Car Confections I loved the video. I have a '16 Maxima and am switching it to a '17 because of Apple Car Play. After watching the video I was left wondering how both USB's and AUX connectors were lit up? They definitely don't light up on my '16 SR. Is that a Platinum only option or does the SR Maxima do the same?

Hi Ernest! I actually don't think the two USB's/Aux are illuminated (see 23:45 in video) even on our Platinum. Now the 12v outlet seen later in the video (at 25:42) is. I would think this wouldn't be something that changes between the trim levels, but I've never been in the SR so I can't say that definitively. Does that help?

After being in quarantine for weeks, saving my stimulus money and money from work that they're nicely paying while this whole covid thing is going on. I finally bought my first car! Since my old car was my dads he gave me when I was 16 (a 2004 Toyota Solaria) and it was a good car for the 10 years I had it...but I'm now the proud owner of a 2017 Nissan Maxima Platinum! So happy! I really enjoy the upgraded speakers compared to the standard one my dad bought (yeah we bought the same car haha). His was brand new while mine was used with 40,000 miles. Funny we payed around the same price with mine being slightly cheaper even though I got the Platinum edition haha. He still says I better take good care of it or we will be switching cars and Ill get the standard and he'll get the Platinum lol.

The speedometer is analog, but you can display the speed on the large driver assist display in between the tach and speedo.

Expect to replace center console and deal with display issues post warranty. In addition, shuddering is to be expected at high speeds with a CVT with very little to no acknowledgement on the ASE technician side at Nissan dealerships. Otherwise, besides the powertrain being garbage. A great vehicle. Please stop beta testing the CVT on the consumer base. More features more to fix.

Before I bought the 2017 Maxima SL (got it for the Bose and glass roof), I drove several 2017 Maxima SV's (without the Bose). Really the sound system was not that bad. I almost got it but the Bose seemed a little crisper, and I did not have to turn the volume up so much on the Bose. Plus the Bose sound surrounds you with so much of the music that you are just enveloped by it. I've owned a Nissan and 2 Vettes with Bose for the past 12 years and I just like the system. Maybe if I had not already owned Bose then the std. radio would have sounded fine to my older ears.

Was a good car, till they went to the CVT transmission. Stay away from Nisan CVT transmissions. There is a history of problems with the CVT transmission. Since 2010, Nissan knew of the CVT problems and issued an extension doubling the warranty on the CVT transmission. Then almost a year later, Nissan decided to end the warranty extension - leaving you with a $4,000 for a new tranny. MANY problems. They don't fix the transmission, they replace them. Add $4000 to the cost of the vehicle. They seem to go around 70K miles. The drive train warranty is 5 year 60K miles. Premature failure that Nissan will not back, if you pass 60K miles.

I'll avoid Nissan because I know they won't take responsibility if it does happen to be another lemon like all the others. Lexus/Toyota CVT is world's better then Nissan, that's for sure. Avoid Nissan.

One of the strong incentives for me to purchase a '17 Maxima SL was the CVT. It handles the 300 hp very well. I've owned a CVT for 10 years now and it has been the most reliable trans I've ever owned. Gets a tad more HP, and eliminates the annoying upshifting and downshifting of normal auto trans. Think what you like but we just love ours.
