Regarding the spider cracks, you need to grind the cracked gel down completely to the glass. Then fill sand and polish. A fairly simple if not time consuming process.
@3ftDeepChannel3 жыл бұрын
That’s what we thought. I tried to find a video where that type of work was done (i.e. not just a patch here and there), and couldn’t find one. If you have a link to such a video, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your comment!

@@3ftDeepChannel this video isn’t perfect (I think they’re too heavy handed with the new gel IMO) but it’s got the basics. kzbin.info/www/bejne/fpSug4J4mrKsobc The project ski may benefit more from repairs and total re-paint if perfection in the finish is the final goal.

Hey all the way from New Zealand 🙌 just curious what your opinion is on the 2022 waverunner vx cruiser ho vs the seadoo gti170 se? I'm struggling between for a family ski that will be used for pulling a tube and a bit of a rush. Would be interesting to hear your opinion. Cracking in the seadoo hull and carbon seals Is what I hear about the seadoo and spiderweb paint peel in the hull of the waverunner. Also just the overall reliability of the 2, have heard good things about the 1.8 of the yamaha but I am a complete amature. Thanks heaps for your time, love the channel🙏 (this will be my first ski)
@3ftDeepChannel3 жыл бұрын
Greetings New Zealanders and hello from Canada! We have to admit we have limited experience with the Yamahas. We're a bit biased against them, however, because of their extremely poor handling of major issues with their machines. The two we're aware of are the cracks forming in certain hulls, and the inexcusable failure of their SVHO cylinder heads. All four of the Yamaha riders in our group had cracked cylinder heads, and in 3 of the 4 cases they refused to acknowledge any fault. Regardless, we have been biased in favor of Sea-Doos for the following reasons: 1. They look much nicer (in our opinion); 2. They are always innovating (iBR, jet pump clearing mechanism, fish pro, etc.); and 3. Yamaha's questionable reliability and service support. We are very wary of Sea-Doo's new plastic hulls, though. In fact, we won't buy a machine with a plastic hull. The carbon seal issue is really a non-issue in the newer machines, especially if you take care of your ski. So, we lean much more heavily toward the Sea-Doo GTI 170SE. If you can get an extended warranty on the hull, or even better buy a used one with a fiberglass hull, we think that's the way to go. Good luck!
Awesome job with this series and all of your videos. Is this gelcoat and not enamel like the new CMTech hulls? I am curious on repair and paint for the newer Sea Doos.
@3ftDeepChannel3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words, Joseph. Luckily, we were working with gelcoat and not the new hull material. Gelcoat is much, much better to work with. The newer hull material requires a plastic welding technique for repairs. You can find some good videos on the topic online. Take care.

I have a 2020 GTX 300 Limited with the ST-3 hull (acrylic}. I'm finding no real definitive answers about how to repair or successfully work with this material. Someone rammed the nose into a dock. Seadoo doesn't even offer a replacement hull. Some patch using regular fiberglass, but many say it won't hold. Have you had any experience with it?
@3ftDeepChannel6 ай бұрын
Sorry, we don’t have experience with major repairs like that. We’ve done some fiberglass with Gelcote repair, but nothing with Acrylic. Try contacting a boat repair shop (if you have one near you). They’re usually pretty experienced with jet skis (as people crash them a lot). Good luck.

Was there an engine break in period? Did u refrain any wide open throttle runs until after a certain amount of time?
@3ftDeepChannel Жыл бұрын
We don't break-in the motors that we repair. Depending on what's done, we probably should. But we don't.

so how would these be compared to a yamaha tr1 engine? being a 17 with the 1500 it had the fiberglass hull still....and the bigger motor. in 17 they used the 990 in the gti 130 i believe and went to a plastic hull

@3ftDeepChannel2 жыл бұрын
The market is so crazy right now with prices so high, I’d be careful trying to make any money off a machine like that. In our case, if the engine needed repair, we’d be under water by thousands of $$.
@abedi7982 жыл бұрын
I have a question, this ski hasn’t supercharger and its very fast. What is different between this engine and 1630 with supercharger on it . I removed supercharger because of damage and now It should be normal Engine just like yours but my top speed now is 37 mph Can you explain why?
@3ftDeepChannel2 жыл бұрын
Each machine is tuned for the parts that are on it. For example, a machine with a supercharger is expecting to see more fuel and air in each cylinder. When the extra air is no longer there (i.e. the supercharger isn’t there), the fuel mix ratio will be off. The compression in each cylinder is also different for supercharged engines. In theory it’s possible to re-tune your engine to accommodate the missing supercharger, but that takes a lot of expertise and money. Good luck.

How many life time have for one jet engine? Could you inform me
@3ftDeepChannel2 жыл бұрын
I don't quite understand your question. A naturally-aspirated engine should last about 2,000 hours, if maintained very well. A jet pump will likely need rebuilding long before that, even if well-maintained.
@nikogurashi7263 жыл бұрын
How much did you pay for it
@3ftDeepChannel3 жыл бұрын
Sorry, we can't disclose that, but I can say that because of the shape it was in it was heavily discounted. We didn't do it to make money, but instead to have a "project" ski to work on over the winter.

If you can't do "stuff" like this yourself, it would be cost prohibitive for the average person. Would just be cheaper to buy a new one or one that's only a couple of years old with low hours.
@3ftDeepChannel2 жыл бұрын
Very true. We put together our channel, however, to help others like us (i.e. not professional mechanics) to do work on their machines and save money, and be safer with the knowledge of addressing issues if they happen out on the water.
