Not unnecessary lumbar support AT ALL...recently had a spinal fusion surgery and could no longer even think about getting into my 2014 Mazda 3 i touring. Literally bought a 2017 Subaru Outback because I could easily get in and make it totally comfortable for a spine that will take a year to fuse. So thankful for this car and absolutely LOVE it. Great review!

Only problem is the mention of a V6. The Outback's 6-cylinder is a flat engine, not a V.

I got the 2015 Subaru Outback 3.6r in December 2014. I got 146k miles on it until now and is still going strong without any major issues... Cvt might bother most of the owners, but somehow it never bothered me as much...Safety is terrific and the ride feels planted in regular as well as not so ideal road conditions as well.. it does come with some quirks though.. like doors don’t auto lock on driving, but none of them are deal breakers...

we have been so happy with our 2010 model 3.6R Premium that we will buy another Outback in a flash. This incarnation doesn't yet warrant selling and updating but as fuel consumption further improves over time we will opt again for the 3.6. It is a gem of a power source to complement a feeling of quality. Sure, it's not a luxury car, but it is a premium quality car

I took delivery of a 2.5 petrol (Only 2.5 petrol and 2.0 diesel available in the UK) outback with Eye sight technology two months ago. It's a dream to drive, I drove 166 mils down the M1 to London last week just steering Eye Sight did the rest, absolutely amazing. The build quality, technology and cabin is comparable to anything produced by Mercedes.

Yes I know I'm 6 years late, but I don't care. Most car companies make promotional material waaaay ahead of time, so it might be confusing. Also, the 2015 - 17 models look very similar to each other, so its possible they did some shots with those models instead.

I just got a 16 model year Outback with one owner, low miles. Best car I've ever had. Hoping to keep it many years as a tough workhorse that should cope with any lifestyle I may have as the time goes on. Subaru have got it right with this. No point getting the Forester or XV. Get the big one and be done with it !

If Subaru releases an STi Outback, it will be an utter dream come true. I believe the future for Subaru is for STi to make Subaru compete with the Audi RS and S line of cars. Since Subaru AWD and Audi quattro are so iconic in their superb handling and fun driving. Although Subaru is not there yet, they are making leaps and bounds with their record profit and understanding that consumers want a powerful car yet not hurting the pocket book

Such an amazing car. I've always been a fan of what the Outback stands for, but I would've never purchased one if I had been in the market. This all new model, on the other hand, is incredible! The interior is beautiful, I like the exterior styling, the tech features are comprehensive; basically, Subaru fixed every issue I had with the outgoing model while keeping a modest price, and improving on things I never expected from a Subaru, like the interior! Great job to the team that developed this car. They went after every flaw, and fixed it without introducing any new areas of compromise! This car would easily be my first choice in the segment.

I've had my 2012 Outback 2.5i Limited with the optional navigation system for two years now. I bought it two years ago at 87,000 miles, and since then have put on 110,000 miles. I think it's a really good car and it feels very well planted during rain or snow. Subarus goldilocks ground clearance height means that it's just tall enough so that you can do some light offroading, but it's not so high up that my grandparents struggle to get in. I like how it feels more car-like, and while the 2.5i engine is a bit underpowered to some, I find driving the 2.5i engine to be adequate when driving at normal speeds. Subaru's resale value is no joke too. I bought this car 2 years ago for 12k at 87k miles. I added 110,000 miles to it, but I could sell it for 13-13.5k right now after seeing what's available online. I would probably buy another used Subaru when it gets to 155,000 I think.

How is it on Gas?
@colechapman6976
@colechapman6976 2 жыл бұрын
@@Lboogs7 I typically drive 23 minutes back and forth 9-5 Monday to Friday and I usually have 430 range or thereabouts when the gas attendant fills it up to full. It averages around 24 mpg. I have the less strong engine option but I have a fully specced model. The 3.6r is worse on gas
@colechapman6976
@colechapman6976 2 жыл бұрын
@@Lboogs7 If your in a city environment it's probably gonna do worse than that. I drive conservatively so I get decent MPGs, although I do on the weekends go up to the mountains and that takes up more fuel than your standard driving environment.
@craigt9415
@craigt9415 5 жыл бұрын
I own a 3.6R and my father has a 2.5i. I tow a seadoo and small trailer, he does not tow at all but drives a lot of highway miles. Both motors for this vehicle are excellent, you just need to determine what purpose this car will serve you. If you want this car for cruising to and from the mall and carry goods or people the 2.5i is plenty. But if you intend on using it for driving in an area with mountains, hauling heavier items or towing I highly recommend the 3.6R. The fuel penalty is hardly enough to warrant the smaller engine and you have all the power you need. I average 25-26 which is a few MPG better than a 2007 Forester I use to own. On average a 2.5i is a few thousand less to purchase than a comparable 3.6R.

While I would beg in front of Subaru North America to bring over the Levorg, the Outback still has the traditional Wagon traits that make it better than other SUV/Crossovers in the market. Also, this new generation car is quite nice looking on the inside. I also think this is the first time the Outback looks better exterior-wise over the Legacy.
@Ididntwantayoutubehandl
@Ididntwantayoutubehandl 8 жыл бұрын
The Levorg is cool, but they're releasing the replacement of the Tribeca next year I believe, so we'll see what that will bring to the U.S. market. I know it's going to have competitive third row seating, because the Tribeca was meant to but it was severely lacking compared to its competition.

I test drove the 2.5i limited. I like the interior, comfort, and handling, and ride; but the engine is far too underpowered for that car. 0-60 in over 9.5 seconds is far too slow. This engine is in desperate need of a turbocharger. Until then, I would get the 3.6R.

If you buy an Outback, do not worry about reliability. I have a 2000 model that's still chiming along up the roads every single day, getting ready to take her on a road trip this month. She's at 165K miles & no signs of slowing down. If you research online you'll find that so many Outbacks, even the very first generations, are still on the road today. I'm upgrading my Legacy to a 2016 Outback soon & I can hardly wait!

I am a huge fan of this car, and looked into it, but the base price is just out of my budget. I also looked at the Golf SportsWagen. Sadly, at $25,000, it’s just ever s o slightly out of my budget. Do you have any words that could push it back into my list? I really enjoy this car, but it’s ever so slightly out of my max costs. I may have to jump down to the Impreza.

luxury or not I think that car that starts at 24k should allow for normal conversation and/or listening to the music at highways speeds. Few more pieces of vibration cancelation materials here and there. I know it's possible. Previous gen. Legacys and outbacks had much better noise cancelation. Subaru went cheap on 2010 gen. in many respects.

@dashcammer4322

+rtrain67 Been down that same road. My Impreza got totaled (not my fault, red light runner, and I was not injured), and I wanted a 2016 3.6R Limited Outback in silver ext/black int. with Eyesight + Nav, and a few other things. None anywhere within 200 miles! 8-12 weeks estimated wait. Very few 3.6R models wind up on the lots, and if you're picky on colors it's like looking for hen's teeth. As soon as customers see they are "in transit", they show up at the dealer with a deposit check. My local Subaru dealer was able to horse-trade an on-order-for-inventory silver/black one with the desired options from another dealer one state away - by trading them a 3.6R in another color that they had on order for stock inventory here. Neither car had rolled off the assembly line yet, but they did the dealer trade, and that cut my wait down to 4 weeks. I ate 3 weeks of rental car cost out of my own pocket, but it was worth the wait.

MOST IMPORTANTLY = it does not come with the 2.0 L engine that Subaru is currently having MASSIVE oil consumption problems. Subaru is currently facing 2 class-action lawsuits on this one oil consumption problem alone. Everyone I talk to is telling me to avoid any Subaru that comes with the 2.0 L engine as its a disaster in the near-term for long-term owners. Subaru is an EXCELLENT car company, all you have to do is just find a model that comes WITHOUT the 2.0 L engine and you will be just fine. The extra ground clearance (compared to the CR-V or RAV4) means you can off-road without having to worry about smashing your car's bottom on a small rock every few seconds.

This 29 MPG appears to have been at elevation. How high? That is an unfair number. My JK will get 24 MPG at 8,000 ASL. That's 3 above highway rating for a flying brick.

my dad has the four cylinder and it is TERRIBLE. the engine sounds like diarrhea, the transmission is slow and dim witted, the interior is meh, the infotainment system is redundant and useless, and on lower trims there is no power outlets in the back. The paint scratches easily and safety equipment is extra

The infotainment system is also in Toyotas, Subaru & Toyota teamed up for that. I can tell you all aren't true Subaru fans because you don't know what a boxer engine is or how it sounds. Subaru toned the sound of the engine way down in the new model which myself & lots of other Subaru lovers are bummed about. The paint scratches easily....................? What safety equipment? You're already buying the safest car on the road for 2016. Lol, this is laughably dumb.

I mean seriously just take it back to the dealership, please. You aren't worthy of a Subaru.

+Amy71400 my dad has the 2015 outback. He paid 35 grand for it and let me re word my statement. Besides the WRX/STI subarus are the perfect cars for people who don't care about cars. They are safe, have good resale values, are fuel efficient, and are fairly good value for money. BUT, above 2500 rpm the engine is loud and grainy, the fuel economy, while good, doesn't come close to mazdas and the Hyundai and Kia twins. In fact my pilot gets better fuel economy and that has a v-6 and an actual transmission. As for safety Mazda, Volvo, Audi, and tesla all have better crash prevention systems and at least Volvo and tesla have much stronger bodies. The Subaru Outback and most of their cars have tho lowest hp in class. 175 in 2 ton car? Mazda gives 184 in a car that ways at least 500 lb less. Also if I'm not mistaken the CR-V has a bigger trunk. The only people who buy subarus ( again except for the STI) are people who think " ya subarus are safe and reliable, I don't need to look at comp

+Amy71400 ok so let's look at the facts and not ilovesubaruandifyoudontyousuckasahumanbeing.com. Consumer reports ranks Mazda 2nd in reliability (after Lexus), the Mazda cx 5 gets better fuel economy, more power, an easier to use infotainment system (ranked by kbb) and is ranked higher in class by motortrend, car and driver, road and track, and every other car reviewing site and magazine on the planet. The Mazda is cheaper to run and cheaper to own, and according to the iihs they are equally safe. The Mazda though is more fun to drive. That is a fact. It is ranked most fun to drive by everyone (KBB said it had zest, motortrend said it was best in a recent comparison, Ect) the Subaru Forester has better cargo space but is also larger in dimension. So it's clear. If you want cargo space but a Subaru. If you want everything else, buy a Cx 5 or Tuscon

I had a Mazda and the reliability was horrible. It had an issue every 3-4 months. The cost of ownership for the Mazda was more expensive then my 18 year old 5 series BMW. My 2nd car is a subaru Impreza, which is a great car, no issues and great on gas.

Dear Subaru, Dump the 2.5 engine (or put a turbo on it), it's inefficient, makes very little power for its size, and lets be honest, the NVH could be better. I'm also not a fan of the CVT but that however doesn't seem to bother your consumers because they keep buying them.
