A big 5-0 birthday to the Corolla name means we get updated styling, class-leading standard safety equipment, and a special 50th anniversary model. Buyers still wanting to row their own gears will be surprised to see that Toyota still offers its best-selling compact car with a row-it-yourself 6-speed, just keep in mind that some of the newer competitors offer more exciting engine options.
