We owned two Toyota Tundras The last one we had was a 2008 which we sold to our son-in-law because it was a safe powerful vehicle and he travels 2 1/2 hrs to work with it twice a week.. He still has it, and it has over 200 thousand miles on it. We looked at a new Tundra but was disappointed. The quality was less. And I resent the STAMPED logo on the back of the truck. It is an expensive truck and they cheapened it. My husband ended up buying a Ford F-150 with an aluminum body and a special engine which gets 22 miles a gallon around town! This is a big truck, 4 doors extended cab. We love it. I have a 2018 Camry LE with a 4 cylinder engine. I LOVE IT. I get 33 miles per gallon around town. I am a Toyota devotee, but was disappointed with the new Tundra.

Corollas are phenomenal vehicles. I’m not looking for a race car I want reliable. Current 2017 SE one has 75,000 miles zero issues not even a brake job needed yet. Also has a 96 (I think) prism made by Geo same car (a Corolla made in CA) and an 86 hatchback Corolla were everything worked flawlessly. Easy on the wallet cars with better design than other manufacturers in my opinion. Wife’s Chevy Cruze for instance had 3 parts changed within 30k not cool. Got rid of it for the 2017 Corolla and haven’t looked back. Even better the 2017 with dynamic radar cruise saved our lives. Wife passed out behind the wheel at 75mph on a Texas hwy I35 I steered for 3 minutes till I got her awake. With hazards flashing. Not enough shoulder to pull over . We stopped by our local dealer and they wanted like $1500 more than the equivalent truck at a dealership in Dearborn. Our local dealer basically said "well if you want drive to the city go for it." That's nuts what he did. We took the 2 hour drive over to Dearborn and got that truck instead of at our local dealer. At that time, people around here didn't drive more than a half hour away from home and thought that if you traveled east of Ann arbor you're going to get shot (not possibly, definitely). My daughter bought 2022 Corolla LE ...Her first new car she's had a year now...She drives the hell out of it. I believe she's at 20k miles. Or so. She and her husband find it a great little car and it's performance for a budget car is quite accepted at the 22k price with the little options. The geared auto trans CVT has a 1st like no other for getting up and going which in theory should last longer. The little 1.8 isn't bad tried and true. She drives like this guy around 80 plus MPH on the Interstate visiting family. Though I wish she would slow down , it does seem like a nice little sporty car for what's out there today in it's price bracket. I always tell people to buy Toyota or Honda. Can't go wrong but watch out my son had the turbo 1.5t civic 2021 new and traded down for the 18 accord 2.0t and had way more power. More luxurious as well albeit he wound up paying the price of a new civic for am old 18 accord. Looks like new and has it modded as little as possible by ktune and filter cold air intake. He's taking many cars on the road having fun here and there too. Sleeper.
That's a very viable production vehicle. That will withstand the storm of the "failing electric car market" and prevail. 53 MPG, in town. That's a magic number for milage fer sure.

Bought a 2012 plug Prius in 2015 out the door no money down for 16k$ ... 60k miles on the engine... I have 300k miles on it... I just rebuilt the engine in my driveway (it was still running 47-50 mpg per tank) cleaned all the carbon off the valves cyls exct... replaced all the gaskets and rusty bolts... Cleaned the EGR and intake... All new fluids... Cost me $250 in parts and fluids... To rebuild and clean an engine... I started watching Scotty 3 cars ago and he helped me out with a question I had on a 90s era suburban... I went from that to a Nissan leaf for 5 years... To a plug in Prius 8 years ago.... And boy do I feel old 😂 but I've done all the work on the car myself and it's still on the road going strong... I'm confident my car will get me where I need to go Because I know I can get my car going (or stopping) thanks in part to people like Scotty

im glad Scotty likes the car. i got a great deal on a 4year old Corolla E210 Sedan Hybrid, but the EU spec with Sol Trim. Instead of paying 32.000€ it was 21.000€, with only 60.000km. And it still has 6 years waranty on everything. But i did get 18inch Alloys though, and i have a spare tyre in the trunk for some reason. Also no charging ports in the back, myn has AirCons instead. Also the EU spec looks like a lexus compared to the US spec, so bizare.

Great car indeed. Very efficient for city driving and for people who do a lot of miles like taxi drivers. But I still don’t think the average consumer should be mandated to own these. The lithium battery and generator it has are too expensive to replace and don’t last as long. I’ve made a mistake and bought a 2008 Camry hybrid and the battery was too expensive to replace when it failed. My 2007 gasoline one still drives like new.

If you need to towe these models with regenerative braking, whatch out that you don’t get the wrong towe truck! Use a “Bed Truck!” Damage occurs when two wheels coast on the ground causing battery to overheat and catch fire as wheels regenerate energy that overheats the battery! Especially if you have All Wheel Drive.

Scotty, I know you dont like Priuses , but I am a happy 2017 Prius owner with 205k miles on it. Had it for 6 years bought brand new. The only thing I needed so far was the water pump (knock on wood). I would be interested to know more about how the generators, batteries, and cvt transmissions fail and at what frequency. I've been taking very good care of this thing and I'd like to think I could get it to at least 250k - 300k before I need to fix something else. I drive this thing heavily because I'm an Uber driver. Maybe driving it frequently and on highways all the time helps it live longer? I'm always very gentle with the pedal and don't push unnecessarily.
