As an American, I wonder if I’ll ever see another American brake in gear and then block downshift just before acceleration. Almost everyone seems to drive like the driver in this video and bangs down gear by gear as they slow. Not being critical, it’s just interesting how manual driving evolved here.

My dream daily driver! Even down to the color... All though 32 mpg highway in an AWD vehicle is good, I would still like a TDI. Imagine 45-50 mpg, all that wagon room, AWD handling and snow performance. So awesome!

After trying the VAG DSG I wouldn't want a manual ever again. At least not as a daily driver. Also, in Europe we get this car with a 2.0 diesel @ 240 hp and 500 NM

Meh. I have an MK6 GTI w/ a DSG. It's nice, but it isn't nearly as fun as a manual. The DSG likes to upshift way too early and it gets caught sleeping sometimes when you REALLY need that downshift. By the time it downshifts you missed your opportunity. It literally upshifts to 5th and 6th when going 30 mph, fine in a TDI... not so much in a GTI. Sport mode is completely unusable around town. It refuses to upshift. It's laughable. Moral of the story: DSG is only great when you're at 70-100% throttle. Otherwise it doesn't feel a whole lot different than a good automatic.

we get the 7 speed dq 381 here in aus it has none of the flaws of the dq 250 which i had in my diesel highline just picked up my 135tdi with dq381 it goes hard and the gearbox is smooth as silk drive mode is great does not upshift 2 soon and sports mode is just great vry reactive to throttle position Plus i love using the shift paddles for manual mode the 2.0tdi has a lovely snarl from 3000 to redline and pulld hard to 4500 love it (going to get a tune when its bedded in for even more fun )
