Super thanks!!! from the radio ON state, i simply did a short press of the outside RIM of the power control knob, and the sound immediately came back. I was afraid the entire amp had gone out, but blue tooth audio from my phone played fine (as did voice controls). The last time I had this sort of problem was with the SIRIUS radio in a 2007 Audi A3 - in that case, the radio up and died and required like a $800 replacement. At any rate - this is the first time this has happened since i owned the car in Jan 2018...

Thx. My radio whas not freezed up but it only played an anoying sound over and over again but the bt whas working but with a clicking sound. I did as you did in this video and it solved my problem. Now the radio and all is working fine. A short tirm fix i assume, going to contact my dealer bc i have still guarantees til summer. Thx from sweden.

Do you need to do this every time you start a car or it fixes it for a long time. I have Golf 7 and my touchscreen frozes and radio changes station on it’s own every time when i start my car.

About to try this on my 19’. Car play took a dump and then no audio works. Bloody unbelievable. Even when locking the car the screen stayed on! My battery would go flat. At least i fixed that

Purely temporary m afraid. Will happen more and more until a reboot doesn’t work. Apparently dry solder joints and poor connections in the main unit in the glovebox. Mines doing and I’m pissed at the cost for repair so might tear it out and go aftermarket. Downgrade yes….but this is a common failure point

Ok now that we know how to reset. I wanna know why its freezing in the first place and seens to be happening more then to just in my 2017 jetta i was gonna just replace it but my audio guy said the chip shortage is effecting new car stereos he replacing all my interior speakers and puttin in 2-12s and a 1000 watt amp

The problem is on back doors, water is dripping through the speakers and on the radio they break down power ampfilter.

Mine got bad too…amazing that it continues to be an issue and VW has not seemed to acknowledge it. I guess if they can pull off an emissions scandal, why not radio?! Lol
