Thank you for saying that. American automakers do get unfair criticism for their parts sharing. I am with you. Parts sharing is fine when it’s good parts. People don’t seem to realize how much goes into a car and all these little pieces add up.

Craig D yes and no. The issue more with Cadillac and Buick. Chevy has such bad switch gear, seeing it in a Buick or Cadillac is disappointing. VW components are such high quality, seeing it in an Audi is not a disservice. I mean VW has the virtual cockpit on its cars. Infiniti is worse than the Americans as Nissan switch gear is horrible and its in all Infiniti models.

Great review, Alex. But you glossed over the elephant in the room: Lincoln’s independent rear suspension and third row seating comfort. Any adult who has ever tried to wedge themselves into the third row of an Escalade knows that’s it is a tiny space and a “knees to the chest “ seating position regardless of the official legroom statistics. In other words, the third row is strictly for young children or limited to 10 minute Uber rides. The Lexus “side flip” third row is an even worse joke than the Escalade and strictly for emergency use. The Lincoln, however, has a true and adult-usable third row where adults sit up comfortably.
@speakingtruths42155 жыл бұрын
alliejr No one actually gives two shits about the third row of any SUV. It’s not a school bus. Your novel was really unnecessary. If the third seat matters so much as you contend, tell me why the LX570 will retain more than twice as much in value than the Masturbator. If you want to try and debate that point, you’ll lose. The LX570 retains more resale value over any other SUV in it’s class.

I never saw better than 16 mpg. The truck encourages a very heavy foot. Deceptively fast for the size. Not too much lean in turns. I would love a more aggressive engine sound though. Lincoln did a phenomenal job with this truck. 2019 Black Label. Awesome review. Thank you

I’ve absolutely fallen in love with this over the last year. When it came out I was like “this’ll never beat the Escalade at ANYTHING” and here it is having beat the Escalade at all but one and a half things. I still prefer the way the Escalade looks inside and out. The vertical head and taillights and the massive grille are just gorgeous. I also prefer a traditional naturally aspirated V8 over a twin turbo V6 no matter how much power or torque it has

Alex, good review. I own a 2019 Navigator and I must say that I have been disappointed with the ride - it could have been softer. Other than that it is a great vehicle to drive and I am thoroughly enjoying it. Fuel economy is around 20 on the highway and 18 combined. It had one recall to reprogram the instrument panel. Cargo room is adequate and the seats are a real luxury. Let's see how it holds!

Its funny, the extended thigh support is actually the main reason I want a new Navigator over my 2015. If you have long legs ( this guy probably doesn't) your right leg can get a little cramped up with your foot resting on the accelerator due to lack of thigh support. The split seat solves that nicely. It's the ultimate luxury for the long legged IMO!!

Finally went to a dealership to see whats all the talks about and one thing I can say is this Veh. is the best truck I’ve ever seen from a American manufacturer it completely destroys the Escalade the radio, interior and display is amazing but its still way over priced (PRICE GOUGING ) the dealership did offer me a chance to test drive one but I didn’t have time so can’t say how well it drives. I will probably buy one used in the future when they come off lease but Lincoln has a winner, Cadillac is going to have to come big to compete with this veh even then I still would buy the Navigator and I’m a Cadillac fan boy.

Excellent review! I’ve been cross shopping this with the GLS450/550, and Escalade. I’ve also gone through the others during my research (QX and LX). This has been really helpful! Currently just worried about reliability, and service experience, but it’s leading the pack by a small margin.
@rampantknight2 жыл бұрын
What did you end up getting? And hows it holding up?
@VAF842 жыл бұрын
@@rampantknight I ended up with a 2019 Escalade, and have zero regrets. It’s low/“low cost” maintenance, no mechanical issues, and easy to drive. We move a lot and have had little problem finding Cadillac dealers for service, with the occasional GM/Chevy dealer for oil changes when it’s not convenient to go to the Cadillac dealer. The V8 delivers plenty of responsive power, without worrying about turbo lag. My wife and I rented a 19 Navigator for a couple of days on Turo, during our ownership of the Cadillac, and decided that even though it was still very nice, we had made the right choice in going with the Cadillac. Compared to our model, the Navigator’s improvements would be mpg since we get a consistent 16 mpg on ours, the seats (Escalade is notably stiffer), cabin space (ours is smaller), and maybe less smooth in ours due to not having independent rear suspension like the Navigator. Except for the mpg which even with today’s outrageous gas prices I gladly sacrifice for the driving experience, these issues are addressed in the new Escalade. Still, unless we go back to driving a lot less, I’m unlikely to go back to Mercedes. I’d still consider the Navigator, but again, for long-term ownership and driving and varied environments (rural/urban, regular/dirt roads), we’re solidly in the Escalade camp for the time being. Edit: I’d like to add that we’re not in the “money is no object” camp. So while we do pretty well, we strongly consider the overall cost of ownership over 5-6 years/100k miles of ownership in addition to the other factors.

Great review (as always). We recently bought a 2018 Ford Expedition Limited 4WD and it's a good match for what we need. When we were shopping, others recommended that I also check out the Navigator. There aren't many Navigators on the dealers' lots around here (5 within 100 miles of Nashville vs 87 Expeditions - maybe they are just selling really well). The Navigator requires 93 octane gasoline. And the second row console would have been a problem for us. I can see how it would be a good choice for some others. Both the Expedition and the Navigator are built in the same Ford plant in Louisville, KY along with Ford's Super Duty truck line.

No 2nd or 3rd row side sunshades is a surprising omission. They want everyone to murder it all out like an Escalade and limo tint it? I like the dash very much...finally, something different. Some complain about shiny black plastic, but I like it. The top end Cadillac sedan is all matte black and does not have any wow factor to me. I would much rather feel like I am driving inside Darth Vader's helmet. TFL found a build quality issue on their Navigator, wiggling the center speaker cover, showing it was loose, which I'm not sure is fair or not. Thank you for commenting on NVH because it is important for me. I bought my Kia K900, solely based on Alex on Autos review of it and couldn't be happier (best car I ever owned).

Ford/Lincoln is going to be happy with your review. I would not mind having a Lincoln Continental and a Lincoln Navigator in my garage, but I would have to win Powerball first and buy a ranch to justify the expenditure. It's nice to see US companies building excellent products. Ford designers know what automotive beauty is all about. Toyota designers only know what ugly and stupid looking is all about. Go figure. Ford is now building better looking vehicles, in my opinion, than most other companies.
