Thats Euro4 for you, bigger heavier more muffled exhaust and no actual extra power
@afletra6 жыл бұрын
@iTxip I think it's not just about Euro4 because a lot of Euro4 bikes out there can have a relatively compact muffler and maintain their power. it's just maybe aprilia make this bike this way. I think the dual/double undertail muffler also have a significant effect in this, that's just a really inefficient design, thus never been used to any modern performance motorcycle (i.e sportbike, superbike) anymore.
@iTxip6 жыл бұрын
I had a 2010 shiver with the Euro3 muffler, took it off for dual Arrow cans, 9.5Kg (20+ pounds) of weight loss right there, the newer more restricted can will be even heavier. Now I have a tuono factory, twice the power, twice the cylinders, less weight and +1000000 eargasm every single time I open the throttle
@iTxip6 жыл бұрын
Yep 2016 1100 Factory. Zero problems, bike is a dream, just use original filters (NEVER use in a V4 any oil filter that is not aprilia original, thats a sure way of fucking your engine, and its just 5-10€ more than a cheap one, i bet my ass that most people that have had problems with a V4 is for not using original filters) and change fluids at the recommended intervals. Too much power?? Depens on what you ride now, definitely too much for a beginner, if you ride something in the 100hp zone just be aware of what you ride and be extra smooth until you grow familiar with it. It does have a shitload of power, but its very linear and pulls from down low too so while being very powerful its also very predictable. If you are buying a brand new one just use the break-in period to grow familiar with it, and try to do those miles in the twisities not in a straight highway, a proper break-in needs progressive ups and downs through its rev range, it even says that in the manual (NOT going at the same gear and same speed on the motorway to get the X miles done quickly) another benefit of doing the break in in twisty roads, by the time you are done with it you will feel confident with the bike Mine is the 2015-2016 model so it doesnt have the blipper for downshifts or the new TFT display, but I always liked analog tachs, and it was also 1000€ cheaper than the new model soooo win some lose some LOL

I had a 2008 750 Dorsoduro, luckily this model had no ABS, so it was lighter. The exhaust is one of the heaviest I've ever seen. It has 12 kilos (26 pounds)! that is tremendous. Also the weight is pretty high in the bike, since it's a undertail. So the effect on the handling was really positive after replacing the exhausts with a 9kilo (19 pound) lighter one. I really liked the bike, nice v-twin, good sound, beautiful looks, great handling, but the lean angle was pretty limited due to low mounted footrests. That was the biggest flaw in my opinion otherwise a pretty good bike.

we are youtubers Thank's bro 👊 I'm still a little undecided about the Shiver 900 Vs Mt-07 (I know that they are in different categories but I have to get them restricted due to licence in Europe and they are comparable), they are both good bike's but I can't really decide!
@Chris675R6 жыл бұрын
Michele Bianchetti If you still want to ride the same bike after the limited 2 years, definitely get the Shiver. The suspension is way better on the Shiver, also the brakes. Everything is sportier even the ergonomics. The MT-07 is a great beginner bike. But if you have more experience and want to go faster it limits your fun because of the soft suspension and dull brakes. I'm a mechanic at Yamaha/Triumph and lot's of customers traded their MT-07 in for a MT-09 or a Street Triple after 1-2 years.
@stro80036 жыл бұрын
Michele Bianchetti If you have no experiance at all, i'd say go for the mt07. The shiver is a really heavy bike, difficult to handle at low speeds and expensive. If you have the a2 license, i would advise you to get something even smaller, a 400 or 500 ccm bike. After two years, you could upgrade to a better bike than the shiver, which by that time will also be a lot cheaper. Thats my sincere opinion as someone who bought a shiver 750 restricted to 48 hp as a first bike. The shiver is not a good beginner bike at all!
@Surpriseify6 жыл бұрын
So abit in the same boat as Michele... But im kinda onboard with the Honda CB650F, 91 hp, 4 cylinders bit cheaper than the shiver (also cool looking), but also abit more than the MT/SV650. I also need to restrict my bike. edit: Also important to say that i am not a beginner rider (whilst still having much to learn as we all do)

Air Doctor the nuda Was a parallel twin... The dorsoduro is a V twin. Kinda like comparing apples with oranges
@factoryrider95376 жыл бұрын
Lorenz Muttenthaler I agree you shouldn't compare those two especialy because they were built with a different purpose in mind, one being a naked with supermoto styling and the other one being more a supermoto with naked bike styling and ergonomics, that being said my next bike will actually be a Nuda :D
@airdoctor12516 жыл бұрын
So now a parallel twin is supposed to make more power than a V twin? What is your point? That v twin should be making more power , considering it is 7 years younger than the 2011 nuda's engine. Also that 210 kgs weight , just why so much weight ? Sorry I was comparing an apple to a potato. Dorsoduro is the potato here , it needs to be peeled off , cut into fingers and fried into french fries , don't forget the salt. Which means the bike needs a lot of work out to be done to even be remotely as good as the nuda out of the box. They should have just left the 1200 dorsoduro instead of ending it.
@identiticrisis6 жыл бұрын
The Shiver and Dorsoduro 750 (first shown off in 2007!) share the same platform as the later Dorsoduro 1200 and Caponord (engine cases, gearbox and cast aluminium frame). The front mild steel trellis frame section is subtly different on all bikes, the swingarm is common to both Dorsos and the Capo whilst the Shiver gets a unique item. Aprilias also are generally a little more stout than other, less well-built marques. But look at the architecture of the 750: massively oversquare, huge valves, giant tapered throttle bodies with short runners etc. it looks as though it could have been developed into something like a 749 / 749R even. Inside info states they had much tastier versions on the testbed. The economic downturn in 2008 could have killed off most of Piaggio's ambitions across its portfolio, leading only to conservatism . It was also one of the first engines they developed themselves, and it brought with it some relatively new features - e.g. it was only the second road-going engine to have "ride by wire" throttle, perhaps they decided to play it safe. This 900 is unfortunately yet more conservatism - save for a few useful friction reduction steps and a tweaked primary drive / clutch, it is little more than a 750 with a longer stroke. The heads, cams, exhaust, intake etc. are all identical - and it makes the same 80 ish ponies at the rear wheel unsurprisingly as a result. The extra midrange grunt is wholly welcomed, of course, especially in a roadster. The weight, then, comes from the platform - it had to be scalable to create a large 1200 cc tourer and still be modular and efficient on a production line with limited space. The frame, gearbox and cases are large and tough enough for a 1200, but constitute unwanted bulk for the 750 and 900. It could be argued the oversquare design of the 750 was necessary in order to be able to share cases with the 1200 in the first place. It's possible Aprilia could engineer a lighter gearbox and swingarm, use exotic materials in parts of the cases, use higher strength steels in the trellis (so as to need less material) and do something about that massive exhaust in order to create something a little more lithe. However, I personally think this platform will remain as it is. Hopefully the 1200s will be made to conform to Euro4 spec somehow, but without changes in the heads etc. for emissions, the cams will likely also be no wilder even then. I also believe Aprilia will focus on a new family of engines for the more "hyper" side of things - indeed they are working on a pair of bikes (an "enduro" and a "Tuono-like") using a new 600cc twin cylinder engine as the basis. Descriptions even hint at a "parallel" layout; maybe the new platform will be "modular" in some way, too. It's worth remembering that the Nuda was a BMW F800 underneath, so a bit of an odd-ball all around - entirely to its credit.
@airdoctor12516 жыл бұрын
"It's worth remembering that the Nuda was a BMW F800 underneath, so a bit of an odd-ball all around - entirely to its credit." true but the nuda somehow in 98cc manages to get 25 more hp(to the rear wheel) and is much lighter than the f800. But smaller fuel tank. +20 nM torque too.
