I luckily have a 2016 800 and 1200 GS. They both have their strengths, but the 800 is my favourite. I think people think they need a 1200 or 1250, but the new 850 has plenty of real world power. As you say, feels like a v twin ( I think it’s the firing order that gives it that feel). Chains are no issue, especially if you like to fettle a little. My chain still looks brand new after a few thousand miles. Also, I rode my 800 down to Spain, with zero discomfort ( the 1200 does give me a bit of shoulder ache) and did some off roading while there. I’ve also test ridden the 850 and 1250. Only a matter of time for me I think Love your vids, but I think they would be better if you rode a bit faster, and started to stretch the bikes a bit! I’m not talking silly speeds, just a bit more Cheers

GS mad...I agree with everything you posted. ( but note that you didn’t mention wind blast!)

he buddy, thanks for the comments, and yeah would love to open it up a little more, although our route unfortunately doesnt have many places we can do that :(

In my eyes the BMW is a better real world bike than the Africa Twin as the BMW has tubeless tyres and the option of cruise control. Thanks for the video guys. 👍🏻

Both excellent points. I agree.

Also takes 5 min to clean air filter on bmw and easy access to battery.Try doing that on AT and KTM?

How does it compare to the tiger 800? I still prefer the reliability of the honda badge and better suspension.
@RiderCamTV6 жыл бұрын
it is comparable, especially with the lightness of both bikes, and of course, the triple engine is amazing. Both great bikes

Would be good to have a review of this engine size beemer with loaded panniers and pillion? Thanks for the vid guys. Did I miss the walk around view?
@RiderCamTV6 жыл бұрын
will have to do that in the future, as, as you say would make a good vid. yep the walk around recording failed :(

Nice review Mr M, can’t understand why BMW don’t just fit a decent screen as standard, just lets down what is obviously a really great bike. 👍🏍
@chrisredfield32406 жыл бұрын
Not everyone want's a decent screen. And bmw make more money this way. Also off road a taller screen can smash you in the face

Great video as always guys, but what happened to the walkaround?
@RiderCamTV6 жыл бұрын
camera malfunction unfortunately :(

Isn't the windscreen small? and does the front nose dive as R1200r used to do?
@RiderCamTV6 жыл бұрын
yeah it is small, although it does quite a good job, but at a higher speed you may benefit from a larger screen :)

Any replacement screen recommendations for a long tour?
@RiderCamTV5 жыл бұрын
have a look at Wunderlich. Toby uses the Wunderlich screen for his GSA which is taller and much better (he says). they must do one for the F850 too :)

Nice bike but it doesn’t have the soul of a KTM. Cannot wait to ride the 790. I know you guys are not keen KTMs but the BMWs lack the “Naughty boy” appeal.
@markholroyd53656 жыл бұрын
Stixtoo, I LOVE KTM's!!! Perhaps this bike may change things?

mld I took a look at the 790 at the NEC last week. Looks promising.

Mark Holroyd Hi Mark, not sure what you meant when you say “ it may change things” ? Do you mean the 790 ktm or the bmw may change things and what might they change?
@anton57496 жыл бұрын
mld 790 looked perfect too. I sat on both R and S. much prefer the R though.
