I love my 310GS... 90% of my riding is commuting on small, bad roads with awful traffic. Pretty maneuverable in traffic, lane splitting is easy where it's small, and the fuel isn't much worse than my old 125 runabout! Enough speed to hit motorways at 120-130kph... just got back from a quick 1000km trip around Italy. Wouldn't spend all that money on Motech parts, the hand guards are really nice, but I've got almost everything Givi. Fits the bike perfectly and 1/2 the price of motech stuff...

Well I've added the tracTive rear adjustable shock absorber and the TracTive front fork upgrade to it and it made my G310 GS a very good off road machine, much more capable and versatile. Also my new rear shock absorber I can adjust the sag ( pre-load ) and the compression/rebound and the forks I can now adjust the preload and release tension. so I can set it for street or for dirt, with or without load or pilon.... Can never go back to stock suspension

I found adding a Puig Touring Windscreen made the journey to my adventure so much more enjoyable. The medium size allowed for a significant reduction in the wind on the highway - while still staying out of the way when off road. I also added a USB port to allow for recharging my gear while on the road for extended periods of time.

I'd like a center stand, but they don't seem to be compatible with aluminum bash plates. More light is more better. I haven't addressed that yet but will probably add LED lighting on the forks as shown in the video. I did upgrade the headlamp, parking light and turn signals to brighter and more reliable lower power LED lighting (standard equipment starting in 2021). I'm sticking with the very nice stock luggage rack and not adding pannier racks. For light trips, I tie a waterproof 40 liter roll top backpack to the rack and pillion. I can strap lightweight waterproof bags on top of that, such as a sleeping bag. If I need more storage, I have a pair of 20 liter roll top dry bags that hang from the luggage rack top and rear and anchor in the front at the passenger footpegs. My goal is maximum capability without weighing down this small adventure touring bike. I bought it because it was light but capable, and I want to preserve that balance.

@@twistedthrottle - My luggage decisions were largely driven by my desire to carry the luggage as a backpack. For most people, a better choice would have been one of the commercial soft packs with integral panniers or the seat bag and panniers combos that have been easier but I like the flexibility of the waterproof seat/luggage bag that's also a backpack and the two cylindrical dry bags that I'm using as panniers that can be attached to the top and bottom of the backpack when I'm off the bike, although the DrySpec D68 or D78 do look very nice, as does the SW-Motech Drybag 700, etc. I couldn't find a waterproof tank bag that I liked so I'm using a Skog waterproof fanny pack (Amazon ASIN: B088XQKKXP) for long trips that I wear backwards so it's in front of me, at my waist (it's pronounced ghey). I'm currently wrapping up the tool kit and first aid kit. I've enjoyed these customizations to accommodate how I plan to ride. I'll post on the ADV Rider forum when I've figured out more of the details and had some experience so I'm not speaking hypothetically, and probably make a KZbin video or two of what I chose, in the hope it might help others. Thanks for your awesome video.

I put on Rox 2" pivot risers which brought the bars up and back, even though Im a bigger guy i like to sit more upright than in the stock configuration. Also added Oxford heated handle grips and would like to add Bark Busters. I put on side racks, that I think came from Twisted Throttle which bolted right on and I'm using Nelson Rigg 27 liter soft saddle bags. On the back rack I strapped on a Kriega US 20 tailbag. I like the idea of the extra lights too as well as the engine bars and skid plate. I made my own radiator guard out of some light expanded metal. So far I am loving this bike!

this little doesn't need the overpriced SW Motech parts but a rally raid kit, then it becomes a proper light weight offroad worthy adventure bike.

Definitely tubeless spoke wheels. The only reason why I did not buy this motorcycle. Hopefully it will come stock with spoke wheels soon. Still, for the current G310GS, affordable aftermarket spoke wheels, (even if they have to be tubed), would be a must upgrade for people like me, who like riding 50/50 and don't want to buy a dual sport.

We do not carry any aftermarket tanks for the 310GS, but the fuel range of 200 miles is pretty good for a bike of that size and capability.

What did you think the impact of adding all of these extras did to the weight of the bike? My biggest concern is adding weight on a bike that doe so much in part due to that light weight.
@twistedthrottle
@twistedthrottle 4 жыл бұрын
Everyone's thoughts on how added weight changes handling differ. This bike, though it is small, has been engineered well to handle the customization, as well as riders ranging greatly in height and weight! ;-)
@argomotoriders
@argomotoriders 4 жыл бұрын
@@twistedthrottle Good point on how everyone's thoughts can be different as far as impact goes. That being said; NOBODY thinks that weight increases performance, the argument is (or should be) over just how significant of an impact that extra weight is. We did some more single track on the 310GS and I am still shocked at how good of a little bike it is off-road. I do not think a top case or even some smaller side panniers negatively impacts that performance in a significant enough way to avoid them. I guess time will tell!

Installing an LED headlight or headlight bulb is super helpful for looks as well as to reduce the load on the bike's electrical system. To be fair, with the DENALI lights, you typically won't notice the headlight at all!

I have ridden a few...but for the money, I prefer a Honda CRF250L modification. Neither are "lightweight"..geez the GS weighs 385 before you add on heavy steel and thick bash plate. That is more than an old XR650 by 40 pounds! I am a minimalist, however. My WR250 and CRF250L both outperform the GS off road and nearly as good on.

Thai Gyro I agree with you. People spend so much money trying to convert a street bike to dual sport. It’s stupid. It’s much easier and cheaper to make a dual comfortable for highway riding. Add all of that junk and that GS is still a pig in the dirt. I’m looking to buy a smaller displacement bike like the CB300f or CB300R and convert it to a scrambler.

The whole point of this bike is massive bang for your buck. Spending almost of as much as the second hand price of the bike is completely pointless. Is stock really so terrible that all that expenditure is required to make it work passably? Very rough add up comes to $3k... add wire wheels, suspension (mods that actually make massive difference) and you are entering pricing range of big boys :)
