I think saying a hellcat sucks is a massive oversight. What dodge did with that chassis was absolutely brilliant. They mass produced an absolute weapon that is easily tunable and can bust 4 digit power numbers without breaking a sweat. I don’t think dodge intended to have hellcats stay stock, they even let you put an upper pulley on a hellcat and stay under warranty. But for people who truly wanted something even more crazy than the hellcat, there’s the demon. The demon is quite simply the best muscle car they could create. It’s their shining achievement that has already made the history books. Both the hellcat and demon are not confused about what they are. They’re big, dumb, obnoxious muscle cars that are a symbol of not what dodge is getting wrong, it’s what they’ve always gotten right. Overall, I think you summed up this car excellently. I just wanted to give my perspective on the hellcat because I’ve experienced first hand the sheer terror and excitement that car gives you either stock or 1000 horsepower. Great review Mr. Regular!

I agree with most of what you said, but no way is dodge letting people keep a warranty with the pulley. Theres a code in the body module when you tune the car and it can flag the warranty. Some dealers might overlook it if you know the service manager, mine said he would, but told me if dodge wanted to send a rep out to look at it for warranty work I'm out of luck. Lot of those blowers already have warranty issues they had to put a new one on mine.

Mythbuster The 0-60 stat has to be about the most useless stat out there, just short of the quarter mile. Cars that are _actually enjoyable_ to drive rarely have good stats in either, yet are _actually enjoyable_ to drive. Quarter miles and 0-60 make little difference once you become an adult and actually drive cars. Give me a brz any day over this bullshit Dodge abomination. I can powerslide roundabouts all day long at 17mph while you are stuck not being able to press the gas because you will go flying off the road.

Redneck Fury lol, you completely missed the point. The point is that cars with 10 bajillion horsepower aren't fun to drive. They are dangerous if you even begin to use their potential. Something slower is much more fun on the street, whether you are carving up canyons or just driving to work (or powwrslifing roundabouts...). The Demon is a joke of a street car. It is basically impossible to drive it safely. At least in a P1 or 918 you have a chassis and suspension that can get you out of trouble if you have the skills, a Demon will send a pro driver into a freeway wall with no chance of recovery because the car has too much power.

You don't need to gut a Demon for that.. Fiat-Chrysler will sell you something called the Hell-Crate, which is far less time-consuming than trying to pull hardware electronics off of an assembled vehicle. That being said, it's unlikely a 240 frame could either hold the engine or withstand the torque once you get it working. What you could do is piss off a bunch of folks by getting an old Impala and throwing one of those crate engines in them. Kind of the reverse of an LS swap :P

Funny thing: RacerX has a 1000HP Hellcat Charger, and then bought a Scat Pack Challenger. Wanna guess which was quicker 0-60? He did everything on a "best of 3" basis first a baseline of the Scat Pack with its stock 245 rears - he didn't try the Charger with this rubber. Then each car with Nittos and then with Mickeys. Also found out that launch control works on the Scat Pack, while it just spins on the Hellcat.

So glad you managed to get your hands on one of these. However, it isn't based on an E Class. The rear multi-link suspension comes from a W211 E Class, as well as some electrical things, but the rest was all done by Chrysler.

@4:17 Please check your facts. 2003-2005 Dodge Neon SRT-4 came with an option that included a switch that delayed ignition and advanced timing to allow for 100+ octane gas performance. The computer was given the programming on the Stage 2 (with “toys”) and Stage 3 packages from the factory. The Demon is NOT the first car to have this feature.
