yea bouy I made that mistake on my last xlt. Put so much money in upgrades I should have just bought a Loaded xlt or lariat. Lesson learned
@MrInzombia5 жыл бұрын
Cory turner Because a lariat does not have the best that aftermarket upgrades offer. For example some sick looking wheels will set you back atleast 1000 bucks. Some new nittos or toyo open country aggressive tires will cost 1000. Some power running boards are nice to add thats another 1000. A sick exhaust for the 5.0 to make it sound like a monster thats another 1000. Cold air intake and tune another 1000. The lariat does not have all these things that makes a truck awesome. Some suspension and shock upgrades for a lift will also cost another grand. I would rather buy the cheaper stx and build it and customize myself than buy the lariat is 10,000 more expensive for shitty technology that i actually dont give a fk about

So by my calculation, after 35 months of payments, plus your $12000 trade in, plus another $4000 down, you will have spent a total of $27, 550 on a truck, and will have nothing to show for it when you turn it in. Taking your total purchase price and dividing it by 35 payments means you are actually paying around $787 per month. With the amount of money down and your trade in you could have bought the truck, financed it over 48 months, and your payment would have been around $400 per month. This is why leasing is a very bad idea. All people see is the low payment per month, and in the end, the dealer ends up taking you to the cleaners. They will take the truck in after 3 years, with low miles and with the F150’s Hugh residual value, will sell it at a profit, and put you back into another lease, and start the cycle again. Basic finance 101. So for the dealer it is “the best deal ever”.
@mobeious4 жыл бұрын
Wrong .. your assuming the 12,000 was straight toward the truck ... he owed 9500 on the trade which netted him $2500 worth of flow to the truck down payment then he added 1500. So he will be in the truck 15,880 after 3 years and your right with nothing to show for it. And for the love of god .. who pays sticker price?

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before but the auto start only works when the wheels are straight. If the tires are straight and it’s still not working then it may be defective. Those 2 USBs are your apple & google car play btw, dont expect to charge ur phone with those ports without disabling or overiding it unless using the Play feature ;) love my STX i put a TurboSmart BOV on it, not that cheap & ghetto plug cap. Love the giant WOOSH everytime it releases my boost pressure. Done a bunch of other stuff but i have to admit i still miss a V8 exhaust note with a Borla exhaust, so dont waste your money on that. Also, do not get the Oil/Seperator unless u have money to waste because only our 2018 motors are Port and Direct injected, so the valves will be washed and cleaned. I bought 1 anyway to try it out and in 10k miles its barely developed a few drops of oil lol. Also if you get a Rear light bar (or if u dont) plug a trailer light hitch in the back or install a bypass plug, it will disable auto start/junk on start up. (Or in tow/haul mode etc) .. but a plug in the connecter makes it think u have a trailer, but doesnt put it in tow/haul. I hated hitting that stupid button everytime i got in it lol. Take care bro enjoy. I do regret being rushed and cheap not getting the Rear locking diff.. thats about it. Dont need 4x4 in Texas but man i wa ted the Rear locker, just incase (beach, mud, etc) :(. I paid 32k after everything including 750$ 5 year windshield and tire/rim replacement package. Next to the headlight switch you can manually dim it or brighten it as well.

wow, leasing is a terrible idea and you got hosed on the price. just goto brandonford.com and see what the same truck would have cost you. would have been worth the flight to tampa!

Dude, you got fleeced. Ever wonder why they were ok giving you what you asked for on your trade? It's because a savvy buyer will get them to $35k before talking trades. Shit, 30 seconds on truecar knocks $5k off the price. Plus they got you in a lease too. You could have been in a Lariat instead of a pretty XL for $44k.

It is a great value! My 17 F150 3.5/10 speed 302A XLT was 51300 sticker.....The STX package is a home run!

I paid $35,800 for a new 2018 xlt 302A 4x4 with the 2.7, navigation, sport package, console, tow package with trailer assist, sliding rear window, heated seats, running boards, spray in bedliner, LED bed lights, 36 gal fuel tank. Msrp of $52,000 so I got a really good deal considering. The stx was ok but the hard plastic arm rests were a killer for me. I’m glad I got the xlt. Nice video. Happy cruising.

Yeah you got a great deal! Being in sales i do make sure to shop around i found the pricing was all very similar so I just chose the closest dealer.
@H8onG5 жыл бұрын
I hear you when it comes the console. I do upholstery and would definitely add some foam and wrap the console in leather. My only complaint on not buying a stx is I hate the steering wheel. I need a leather one in my life. I would either buy one from a junk yard or make one if I have the time.
@coryturner91405 жыл бұрын
Gilbert Luna on my last xlt 2017 I ditched the steering wheel that felt like sandpaper and got one out of a limited that was smooth leather (off of eBay). That sandpaper feel had to go! It was $300 but it made all the difference. I’m kicking myself for not taking the silver trim off of that steering wheel and putting it on my 2018 which already has leather wrapped steering wheel but black cheap looking trim. The stx is a decent deal but when you start upgrading everything you might as well go with a higher package to start with. My mileage is crappy too. I had a 2011 5.0 a 2013 5.0 and 2017 2.7 and now a 2018 2.7. They all got the same mileage. 16-18 average The sound sucks on the v6, the fuel economy isnt great like they claim, but the boost is awesome. The v8 sounds great but it’s not as peppy as the Ecoboost. I almost bought the stx 5.0 but it felt like a dog driving around town and the hard plastic arm rests like I mentioned before killed the deal. Either way the f150 is great in either package. I shopped the local dealers and they all wanted $39k for the same pickup. I drove 2 hours to Boise and saved over $3000. I used a local dealer last pickup and it was a mistake. I’m not paying $3-4K extra just to shop local when they screw up on service work and my pickup spends 2 weeks getting a rear end installed that should take a day or two and still had problems. Bigger dealers give way better deals and the service seems to be better because of the volume of vehicles they see and better trained techs in my experience.

There’s absolutely no way that was new unless it was a dealer demo or loaner.

Nice review, I like those STXs. When I was looking at these in November a truck like this was going for $32K with all incentives. STX is a nice deal. You can also get great deals on XLTs. Lariats, not so much, at least not that I found. I ended up with an XLT.

I think you overpaid. Doing quick math in my head, including your trade-in money, down payment, lease residual/money factor and 36 month term, you are in Lariat territory for a lease. Dealer discount was also very subpar. Just for reference, I leased a '18 $54k XLT for $360 a month, only first month at drive off. Had I found a $3k Prive Offer code that Ford was offering most of last year, would have been in the $320 range. Also, STX's are excellent value when looking straight at the sticker, but they are usually never incentivised or dealer discounted nearly as well as an XLT. The best deal in trucks the last few years, has been a XLT with the 2.7 and Navigation added (due to the way Ford offers sticker discounts with those 2 options).

Hey bud I have the 2018 f150 XLT sport if you never had a Ecoboost before you need to put the Miles on it to start to get the MPG also with turbos the weather plays a HUGE factor 45+ you will get the best MPG and put it on eco mode my truck at 72 mph will do 27-28.6 mpg also you'll get better performance using premium 91 or better

@@tractorsalesguy6149 if you have any questions on the Ecoboost motors I know a bit about them have it on my 14 fusion my 16 escape my mother-in-law's 17 escape and my 18 F-150 also my mom has a 17 escape lol and all of them are EcoBoost
@robertschwark85 жыл бұрын
@@tractorsalesguy6149 also with the gas performance if you don't use 91+ you horsepower is only 250 at the crank and torque is only 300 at a higher RPM I have a buddy that owns a performance shop and he dynoed me with regular gas and premium all EcoBoost don't get the specs that's advertised unless you use premium that's the bad fall but using regular gas won't harm the motor either
@ksamos5 жыл бұрын
@@robertschwark8 That is a huge difference. With a decrease like that on 87 octane fuel, all the more reason to go with the V8 motor. It has full power with 87, so your cost of ownership will be less. Unless you feel the need to race everyone up and down a mountain or red light to red light, V8 is more power than most owners will ever need.
