Good job teams! GE fell consistently in value from the date this video was posted until today.

Dear Sir, A task for you. A stock with initial value $1. How do you translate its 20% Growth in Net Income, 9% Growth in Capital Invested, assuming P/E ratio is proportional to ROIC, ie if ROIC = 13, P/E = 13, into the Compounding Interest? What is the formula of compounding interest? What are the values of the stock after 1,3,5,7,9,11 years respectively. Note: G (net income) ≠ G (Compounding Interest) Compounding interest ≠ $1 * (1 + Gnet_income)^n_years The academic compound interest formula (1+g)^n is defined in a closed system, where there is no external input. For stock, there is an external input and external output which are the growth in net income and the growth in capital invested. Academic compound interest formula is false, it is not applicable to the stock market.

The panel was spot on. Yes, there shares went up ultimately, but so did every other stocks in the market due to overall liquidity. The panel made some very valid points about why are you giving this company the benefit of the doubt when it hasn't performed frankly for decades now.

Shorts won. GE is a prime example of shareholder value destruction. $7 a share now a days is overvalued for GE. Market is being generous.

NAVI were clearly unprepared -- the presentation was a complete train-wreck.

This sounds like a bunch of non-sense. Makes me think equity research and hedge funds are stupid.

It's impossible to come up with an intelligible thesis on a massive conglomerate like GE, especially as part of an MBA case competition. I'm not sure why they pick such large companies for stock pitches - US steel, GE...
