for anybody here that is actually considering getting this car, i got mine yesterday with the active exhaust option. and let me tell you that none of the videos on youtube actually do the sound justice. i spent like 3 weeks watching videos over and over again, waiting for my stang to arrive, and it was still louder than i expected. the cold start makes my house shake LITTERALLY. fantastic car, couldnt be more happy

I told my brother not to get this on his 18 GT. He got it. Today we went through the different modes and I’m in disbelief how amazing, loud and deep this exhaust is. My 16GT with muffler delete and magnaflow X pipe sounds quieter than the 18 in normal mode. So basically it’s time for an exhaust change for my car lol. Anyone debating getting this exhaust, trust me it is 100% worth the upgrade from factory

Sport & Track Modes sound exactly the same to the human ear, but did notice an audible difference between Quiet & Normal. Ford did a great job on the exhaust system from factory, really only needs a resonator delete kit for most Mustang owners who want more volume.

Not true, loudness and sound levels are calculated in different ways. A measured sound level is perceived differently by human ears. A decibel reading from a sound meter/gauge doesn’t translate well into perceived loudness, and this is why loudness is most accurately measured in LUFS.

Just bought a 2019 Mustang GT with all the premium package after having an import (2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8) and my goodness never looking back, hands down the best investment I have ever made. Well I have the active exhaust I can't believe the decibels are so close but the actual tone or pitch of the exhaust sound is so different track really does sound a significant amount louder than sport mode and quiet mode really does feel like just driving a normal quiet car the decibels may be close but the tone of the exhaust and the way it hits your ear makes a huge difference

Well sport mode is 30% louder than normal and track mode is 30% louder than sport mode

What's not shown is that the exhaust is variable. When you floor it to 7500rpm it opens the valve up on the 3 louder modes. A test at 3000, 4000, 5000 RPM would be better at showing how it sounds during normal driving.

What you're comparing is the maximum possible loudness in each mode. And although that may be interesting in its own right, it's not exactly relevant to most real life situations. I mean, if I'm going to rev the hell out of the engine, then I'll probably be on a highway, where I couldn't care less about the noise because I won't be disturbing anyone. What I'd really like to know is how loud each mode is at idle, and how loud each mode is while crawling on a driveway at 15 mph in second gear. I'd like to know just how obnoxious I would be to my neighbours if I used one mode or another. Would I really annoy all my neighbours if I used the sport mode instead of quiet when leaving home? Obviously I would if I slammed hard on the loud pedal, but what if I didn't? Would the difference between the various modes still be as pronounced?

Sound intensity doubles for every +3 on the dBA scale. So increasing the noise by 11dBA is nearly 4 times as loud.

That’s not correct. Power is doubled or halfed when increasing or decreasing 3dB. With sound it is closer to 10dB in order to double the level.

2015 stock gt is quieter than Quiet Mode. With roush axle-backs it sounds like Track Mode but with more rasp

Save money just have your local muffler shop take out your arrestors in the exhaust system. I did. Sounds awesome and no expensive purchase for new exhaust.

Since many race tracks here in Sweden has a 95db limit, I seriously hope it's possible to run the car in track mode but with quiet on the mufflers.

it is! you can customize the drive mode and the exhaust mode if you hit the pony button! i have mine set up so it’s in sport plus, steering in comfort, and the exhaust in track.

Hmm the spoiler delete on the Performance Pack is growing on me. Maybe I can live without it but I also love PP1 spoiler. I can't decide if it'll be a deal breaker for me when I go look at one. It has all the options (active exhaust, 401A, manual) I want besides that. Does the Mustang look better with or without the Performance Pack spoiler?

The active exhaust feature is a waste of money. I just bought a 2018 GT without the performance package and believe me, the exhaust is loud but not loud enough to disturb your neighbors. Besides, who in their right mind would reve the engine or floor it out of the garage. I just ease out of my garage and coast in when I get home and no one can hear me leave nor arrive.

Yeah. It loss torque at the lower end because of loss in backpressure when the exhaust is opened up

You can but you will lose the ability to switch modes, not just with exhaust but will shifting and all around driving modes.

The baffling if the factory mufflers and resonators will break-in over time, changing the sound of your Mustang's exhaust slightly as you put more miles on it. The active exhaust systems won't do this any differently than normal passive systems though. -Zach

It makes a big difference in reality. But also when you step on it, at higher RPMs they all open up the valves eventually. The bigger difference is seen in casual street driving.
