Max. Having jumped at the onset to your engine case guard , I can now even without your shoot realize I made the best choice for my use. I suspect for the 40 buck difference with the Wingstuff powder cost, versus your 6061 T6 heat treatment aircraft aluminum, with the anodized finish, are all best suited for the form, fit and function specifications needed for the intended application. The life cycle management of your parts and the engineering far exceed the others, even at first glance. The resale value of any of your products or the reusability on a newer bike will last a lifetime. Maybe not so much for the others. Personally, knowing the risk, 40 bucks is chump change and worth my piece of mind. My free will my money. 👍🏼😎

Working overtime today, saving for my first GW and been watching your videos for a long time. I'll be coming straight to your shop with it for the Traxxion Edition build! To bad you have to waste your money to prove a point that you make superior products. Just like a horse, you can lead em to water but you can't make em drink.

I like the fact that the Wingstuff has some give. The idea is to cushion a blow and not transfer it like a very rigid plate would do.
@Traxxion
@Traxxion 5 ай бұрын
That is a valid concept, the material is far too soft. Would you wear a styrofoam helmet? You'll be surprised when we do destructive testing this week.
@vincents3334
@vincents3334 5 ай бұрын
@@Traxxion actually a lot of helmets have a cushion foam under the hard shell. I wouldn't wear a hard metal helmet fitted tight to my head as an impact would be transferred to my skull. I'm looking forward to seeing your testing and appreciate all of your efforts.
@Traxxion
@Traxxion 5 ай бұрын
@@vincents3334 literally... every single helmet for every single sport is lined with Styrofoam. It is not possible to impact a helmet and not have it impact your skull... The helmet is designed to spread the impact evenly over your skull. The Styrofoam collapses in the process of spreading the impact out, which is why any helmet that has ever been hit should be disposed of and replaced. The question is simply whether or not the helmet is strong enough to take the impact and not collapse. I have the test fixture welded up and we'll be doing the testing this week. Waiting on one more plate to show up.

I don't see why the other belly pans put the slots in the pan...all the slots do is make the pan weaker and is a place for something to grab as you run over it...all I can think of is its an effort to help remove the engine heat out ....and speaking of engine heat, a aluminum plate is better than a stainless plate because aluminum dissipates heat much faster than stainless steel does and won't hold the heat next to the engine nearly as much as stainless steel will...also to get the pentration resistance the stainless plate would need to be thicker and it would weigh more and hold the heat even more. Aluminum plate...not sheet metal... with no slots cut into it is the choice material for the case guard.

I purposely purchased your product because of the rigidity from the mounts to the plate. It’s been a fantastic engine guard. I’ve had a few things hit the plate. Protected it well so far. I have wore the edges down on the edges a bit from leaning too much lol, but it has held strong. Anti seize the bolts to the plate, works like a charm, many oil changes with no issues. Only thing I have noticed is Little Rock’s and tar from the road we’ll be on the side that faces the engine, I just clean it off during oil changes and carry on. Excellent build quality!

I was actually on your website today Max looking at ordering your engine guard and steering head safety pin. I'm in the UK and was worried what it would cost once delivered with customs tax, VAT, etc added so I thought I'd wait and look at the other options. Very nearly ordered the crappy Chinese one until I saw that it would come from china and thus with possible similar extra costs with customs etc. This video is so timely for me it's spooky! Picking up my 2023 DCT Tour Airbag on Saturday (hence why I'm feeling a little cash strapped at the moment) and will now look to pony-up and order your plate👍 Keep up the great work!

I really try to focus on the quality of the part for its intended purpose because I made mistakes getting cheap stuff in the past and had to spend additional money to make things better or do something completely over. Your engine guard won after comparison, and because the first version of the Wingstuff belly pan required bending brackets around the exhausts. So far you have a great comparison going on here.

Have you heard of some peeps with an oil leak after installing your pan?
@Traxxion
@Traxxion 5 ай бұрын
No. None. That's another myth that needs to be busted... Unfortunately, there was an early video Cruiseman did, where he had some oil on his pan at his first change. It was because when he installed the plate, he had the bolts out for a very long time while he did his installation video. His videos are far more detailed and produced than mine. A normal person wouldn't have their hardware out long enough for that seep to occur. He put that video out before he called me to ask me what was the deal. We had ours out for days at time, and it would weep, but once you install the bracket and tighten the bolts, it squishes out, and you just wipe it off. I took my pan off for the first time since it was installed like 2 years ago... bone dry, even after all the R&D stuff we did.

My price has never changed. Wingstuff's has gone up from 179 because they've had to redesign it and improve several times. But also, haters on the internet downplay the WS price and exaggerate mine.

So, what do you recommend for the previous generation gl1800, since traxxion doesn’t make one?
@Traxxion
@Traxxion 5 ай бұрын
I believe the popular brand was Tulsa. The gl1800riders.com forum would have a ton of info. There were no "Engine Guards" like I build, but that engine didn't have the weak point the new one does. The coolant bottles get eaten through by little debris and rocks pinging it over time and they pour out on your tire!
