Don’t worry about scrubbing the floorboards, I ride a fatboy and can counter steer 30 degrees before this happens even when I scrub the bottom of the floorboards nothing happens the bike just keeps cruising through, I had a hard transition from my V65 magma to the fatboy until I learnt how to trail break changed my cornering technique forever 👍🇨🇦

I generally resist any updates on Harleys. I like the old stuff. At least old now. I have a 2001 Fatboy. I love the Deluxe and softails in general but I am ok with the updates. I may change my mind when I see them in person but I feel it is time to progress a bit and give new riders more of what they are looking for. Not totally, but a little bit. I feel that with this refresh it will revive some of the stale aftermarket stuff you have been seeing for years. Same stuff since the hayday of the OCC and biker buildoff. Nothing is new or fresh. This will open the doors for new and creative items for Harley and the aftermarket. If you want an old style softail, go get one. The market is flooded with them. And the market is becoming stale. Why buy a new bike when it's the same as all the barely rode new ones out there. Give it some time. If they suck, then you can hate on it. I hope the best for Harley.
@twiggyb677 жыл бұрын
You are right. Traditional enthusiasts seem to be shunning the changes in `18....But a lot of them unfortunately are aging and retiring from riding. Harley`s sales have been down for this reason. They have to infuse the new with the old to bring the younger generation into showrooms. I love the 18 Fatboy. I am 55 myself.

I am 47 and have been riding Harleys for 20 years. I hate change but I want to see American motorcycle manufacturing do well. I did not want to see Victory go away either. I will tell you this, I was at Sturgis this year and saw a lot more Indians than I ever thought I would. They're not for me but if everyone rode what I like, I wouldn't like it anymore anyway.

Like your sentiments guys, and i'm right with you and nearly ready to drop my dime on a 2018 114 FatBoy. I had an '07 96" FB before and a 14 103" switchback in the middle, I think the old looks is cool still, but stale. I'm in two minds on the headlight, but no one else around here has one, so I'll keep it.

@ut1004bp3 жыл бұрын
I will point out to you, since you mentioned it twice about the easy pick up off the side stand, if the tires are low profile (as they are) they tend to do less lean angle on the kick stand.. Tall tires sizes require shorter kickstands (incase you have a flat while parked the bike doesn't fall over).. Nothing magical about the shallow lean angle for it has short or low profile tires, when you lift your weight off the bike the springs raise the angle alittle more. A couple comments on the looks, that clutch cable and The right side passenger foot peg looks totally out of place. I didn't hear a comment on engine buzz/vibration at higher rpms, which is what i'm curious about(?)

09:51 That’s a Dyna you’re on that is shaking. The engine is rubber mounted which is completely different than a Softail (at least prior to the 2018 models). The Fat Boy you are riding in this video has always had counter balancers, all Softails do. It has nothing to do with the new Milwaukee 8 engine. I’ve been on an 05’ Heritage now for over 10 years. I always get somebody at a gas station telling me that they don’t like Harleys because of the shake at idle. I always say “me neither, that’s why I bought a Softail”. Then they say “but that’s still a Harley so it shakes”. Then I fire it up and ask “what shake”. Sure, there is some vibration but it does not “shake”. Not at all. Sometimes I’m even asked what I did to it to make it not shake. I personally dislike that shaking because it makes my hands fall asleep at stoplights. I’ve test ridden all of the new Glides that now have a counter balancer and, in my opinion, they are leaps and bounds better to ride than previous models. That shaking is mostly gone.

I realize that this has nothing to do with the bike, but I love the beat in the beginning. Was that directly from Chuki's youtube channel, or was it something custom and specific? I've searched high and low, well before the date this video was published, and for the life of me I cannot find it. The man is a machine, and his titles are not exactly easy to index. Thanks much.

I like Harley motorcycles to a point. I own one myself. I have to say they are now quick enough to have fun on in my day to day ridding. Talking stalk bikes and not v-rod. (prior sport bike rider) but now that Harley has pushed there performance further they need the breaks to match. I test rode a 2018 Street Bob 107 the other day. Where I live the elevation is over 6000 ft. so power performance is hampered and I am not a big guy at 190# although I constantly had the feeling that I had more power than breaking capability. I don't need sport bike level of breaking just breaks to match the bike from factory. I know the buyer can put on a dual front disc setup on the Street Bob but the point is they should not have to. I do realize Harley does have bikes with more breaking power but if Harley is going to compete they need to adapt to the buyers and as there products improve they need to improve the safety as well. I am well aware that there is some guy out there that has a bike that runs 9's on the street that only has a rear break. I don't care. Give me better breaks Harley. Additional notation... The new suspension setup on these bikes is excellent. Good job Harley.

interesting fast the FAT BOY was named after the 2 BOMS drooped on Japan in world war 2 the Little Boy and the Fat Man also the badge on the tank is cause the bike is a tribute to VETS so that why they wont change it the holes that were in the wheels on older models were suppose to be bullet holes but in 2018 model they moved the bullet holes to the strip on the tank going to the seat but over all i really like the new look i think its a Awesome bike i have test road one and it was great ok well that is all what up blockhead
