Remember it's the internet, where it's kinda a unwritten law that you never post anything positive ,lol.Srsly ., ppl just love to bitch and no matter what HD does or builds some ppl will post hate, you can't plse everyone all the time. ,and then there are some ppl that you can't please NONE of the time. We all have "that one friend" that is just a miserable mf'er and ain't ever happy with anything, if they win a million dollars they bitch about havin' to pay taxes on it rather than be thrilled at the money they DO get .If you can't find a bike you like in HD's line up as many models as they have, the problem ain't with HD, it's with YOU. ,that's what I tell 'em.

Old school Harley riders will definitely hate the new update for sure. My 3 co workers are old school, to them it's hard to accept the new generation Harley. It's doses not feel like a Harley.
@davidjames39857 жыл бұрын
Apparently you can get a little bit more power on these engine mounts, probably thats why the went for it, but most likely they will go back on thise decision, the thing about HD is that all the technology is added little by little without changing drastically the aesthetics and feeling, and by doing this is a complete 180, thats the problem. Is not that we don´t like changes, is that we don´t like unnecessary changes, specially if its just for a stupid trend. Look at the street 750, it worked out great, but the street rod? that one sucks, it looks nothing like a harley and is too hipster-ish, thats what is happening here, it feel forced. In HD there is no place for 'performance', they are quick enough and the best air cooled engines, but you don´t get a harley to ride fast and to scrap pegs, these babies are too expensive and pretty to be doing that shit, so, nobody cares about getting 10 or 20hp and "better" suspension if that means changing the entire meaning of the bike. Where did the Wide glide go? that is sad.
@timothy95967 жыл бұрын
So it only took Harley 100+ years to make a comfortable seat. Maybe next century I'll be able to afford one.
@fastjax7 жыл бұрын
These new Harleys are NOT rubber mounted. They are rigid mounted to the frame because the motor itself is counter balanced and Harley got feedback that people didnt like how little vibration they were getting with the new motor, one of the reasons the power transfer is better. the monoshock and rigid mount is what giving the motorcycle a stiffer feel and greater transfer of power. that salesmen needs to learn his product.

I can't really understand all that hate for the 2018 lineup. I fell in love for the new Fat Bob on first sight. After reading the specs, it seems like it delivers all the things I was looking for in my Low Rider S (that I sold a few months ago): a torqy V-twin-powerhouse, nice ground clearance, good suspension and brakes plus a mean look.
@draganm82397 жыл бұрын

Love the look of the new Fat Bob, looks like a tough bike not a flashy, chromed out bike with a ridiculous paint job. I personally didn't like Harley before these new bikes. I took the 2018 Fat Bob out for a test ride and loved it so much I ordered one! From a business perspective Harley made the right choice to change and attract new customers. The rear suspension actually looks worth a damn for once. Too all the people who are pissed at Harley for dropping the dyna, you are the same type of person that caused the FXR and the Vrod to be a failure. Loosing your mind every time the motor company changes anything. This is Harley investing in its future and a modern bike with modern performance is what i wanted to see. Cheers Blockhead! First review online I think. I tried the Low rider S and was unsure really, I will try the Fat Bob as well, problem with Harley in the uk is the prices, the Fat Bob 114 is nearly as much as a Ducati XDiavel here which is an astonishingly powerful and well equipped Cruiser, you would have to really, REALLY, want a HD badge on your tank to spring for one here but I could be tempted by this one.....

The reason Harley made these new line of motorcycles was to appeal to millenials like Blockhead. The aesthetics are a move to the comtemporary faction that is this new generation. The nostalgic look of vintage Harley's (watch the opening scene of Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man to see what vintage Harley is) has expired and the "biker" image has changed. These bikes are a real testimony to where the motorcycle industry as an inclusive whole are going. Its not a bad thing at all but just not what old guys like me and the rest of us are used to.

So I guess the ultimate question. How does it compare to the Low Rider S? I've personally test ridden a LRS and absolutely love it. Mostly because of its little bit higher seating position, decent handling and excellent brakes, the power of the 110 doesn't hurt either. If this new platform is that much better I hope that they do a Low Rider S on the new platform (though with the 5.0 gallon tank, after all the 2017 has a 4.7 gallon tank).

I test rode the 2019 114s and I want one. They are perfect for these crowned 2 lane blacktop roads out here. H.D. finally put fat & somewhat tall rubber on which makes handling much better. This was a surprise, thx for making this video so fast! This is a bittersweet, the fat bob was the first HD I test rode and it was love at first ride, love the fat tires, the seat, the dual headlamps, the only thing I don't like is the foot forward riding position, because of this I considered the lowrider S because it has the best ergonomics for me, but now it looks like they're not doing the dynas anymore, which is weird because they had good sales with the lowrider s.

Cool paint scheme on the '18 H-D Fat Bob and a nice seat. Those bars look like a straight broomstick though and 3.5 gallons is one gal. too small for that size gulper. But hey, H-D made it to the 21st century with a rear mono & a radiator between the front downtubes!

Hey Blockhead, what did you think of the handling with that big front tire? I am seriously considering a Fat Bob as I love the styling, but wide front tires tend to make the turn in a bit numb. Obviously I don't expect sport bike razor sharpness, but I am well experienced with "Point and hope" handling lol. I am a long time classic Goldwing rider (GL1000-K0), so I tend to like a good balance of power and handling.

At the dealer meeting (seen on youtube. I wasn't there) they said they are all rigid mounted. The smoothness at idle is from twin counter-balancers. Also, we have the same thought regarding the size of the fuel tank. It's about a gallon too small.

+1 They are rigid mounted, that was my bad. I read an article when the Milwaukee 8 came out that it was rubber mounted, but seems that's in their touring line, and they've gone rigid in the new rollout for the Softails.
@grayboo2127 жыл бұрын
It’s not they’ve “gone” rigid, it’s that they’ve stayed rigid. Softails have always been counterbalanced. Touring bikes never have been until this year with that new engine. Get on a 13’ or older touring bike and it will shake your hand numb at idle. Get on a 14’-16’ with those Rushmore improvements and, in my opinion, they are smoother. Now, get on a 17’ touring bike and it’s more like my 2005 Heritage. Not completely smooth at idle but pretty close. I’ve wanted a touring bike for as long as I can remember but I’ve always hated that shaking at idle (a lot of people love it). I’ve test ridden every model of the 17’ touring line and I like all of them. Huge improvements, at least for me.

I am looking at getting back into motorcycles after many years and I gotta say the guys who are crying over the new design are just plain crazy. I used to look at Harley as some fat geriatric dude’s god awful looking ride to the nursing home, with his tacky plastic saddlebags and bigass godawful plastic fairings looking like a wannabe, telling everyone how he scored a touchdown in high school 50 years ago, and now spends most of his time in the cath lab. Harley desperately needed something new. The brand was dying with the guys whose glory days died with the old design, 30 years ago. These new bikes spark my interest and I may see myself dropping $20,000 into a hobby I couldn’t have imagined a short while ago. Nice job HD. 👍

You all know Harley's aren't made in America, they are only assembled here. Wire harnesses and seats from Mexico, engines, transmissions and all the chrome in China. The wheels, whether spokes or cast from Australia. We only make and paint the Fenders, Tanks and Frames here in the USA.

Hey, I actually worked assembly in York PA for 2017 Surge and got info from all the 20 year old timers and how things changed. Yes you are correct. Harley doesn't have a facility in Mexico, China or Australia because they out- source production for assembly to those countries. Like I said, frames, tank shells and fenders are made in USA, nothing else. Do you really think a large chrome plating company still exists in USA due to EPA regulations?
