It's been 25 years since Jeep released the first Grand Cherokee and in that time, a lot has changed. The SUV went from niche to mainstream, from rugged off-roader to wagon on steroids, but the Jeep, as is its wont, hasn't changed quite as much. And that's worth celebrating.

19/26 Mpg may not sound great on it's own, but when you put in the context that it is rated on an SUV that weighs 5000+ pounds with the aerodynamics of a brick, then it suddenly doesn't sound too bad. Personally, I didn't buy mine for the gas mileage. Also, if his transmission shifts rough, he should check that out at the dealer. Maybe he was in sport mode?

you can add a trailer towing group option that increases the towing capacity to 6200 lbs for the V6 models.

I own a 2014, and have owned all generations of GC... this one is the best one I've owned yet... great daily driver, great MPG from the 3.6 V6, and I love the 8.4N unit (wish it had Android Auto though, as my dad and I both drive the Jeep, and both have Android phones, so it would come in handy). Mine is a Limited model with some options. It's great for our family and is a great commuter as well. :)

I don't understand the transmission comment. The ZF 8 speed is lauded everywhere, including my personal experience. Smooth, predictable shifts. Rarely confused by which gear to select. It is excellent. Something might be wrong with that tester.

I have a 2015 JGC with 8 speed auto and mine is pretty smooth in general. Maybe the transmission smoothness issue is just an issue with the vehicle you drove.

Drove the 4 x2 for about two weeks and then test drove the 4x4. The 4x4 is a much smoother drive.

EXCUSE ME this reviewer is so wrong. At 3:10 He says towing capacity is 3,600 pounds but in reality the base version of this Jeep with v6 engine can tow 6,200 pounds and if equipped with the v8 engine it tows 7,200 pounds

Looks like they've gone retro in design. The 2018 looks a lot like the 2011 model. Still concerned about the whole Fiat association and the Fiat reputation for poor statistical reliability.

I have a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit. I love the vehicle and absolutely hate the stop/start technology. My friend told me that it's now on his Ford and I see the 2019 GMC/Chevy Silverado will also have it. I had a 2013 Toyota Avalon hybrid and it was seamless from electric to gas. 5 years later...... I have a new vehicle that has this terrible stop/start technology. It changes your driving habits and you will soon learn how often you will turn your car off and this thing auto resets. You will start taking your foot off the gas at intersections to make sure your vehicle doesn't turn off and you will then take your eyes off the road to see if you turned the dumb button on. I will either need to go European or back to Toyota as they mastered this. I can't tell you how much I hate this feature!
