ReelinTension I’m looking at buying the same boat and wanna run three battery’s for my trolling / accessories and one for cranking! I live in south Florida and will use the trolling motor all day.

@@marklewis3436 yeah it shouldn’t be a issue. I am running a 24 volt 80lb terrova. It is oversized for the boat. From the factory they come with a 12 volt 55lb. When I had the boat ordered I had my dealer call key west and tell them I wanted the 24 volt trolling motor. I’m like you and use my trolling motor a bunch. Where I live I have very strong current. We have 6 to 8 ft tidal swings and sometimes more. I have never not been able to go against the current or have spot lock hold which is why I wanted it bigger then needed just incase. The trolling motor hardly ever is at max speed which is nice. I can fish all day using the trolling motor and when I get home and plug in the on board charger I’ve never seen it under 80 percent.Good luck with your purchase. I still have no regrets to this day. It is a well-built boat indeed

Yes sir that’s my plan as well. I’m still trying to see the difference between the 1720CC and the 176CC.

@@marklewis3436 the 176 is wider and longer Obviously. I looked at both but I’m more of a inshore backwater guy and I like the 1720 better for that. If I was going to fish more bays and run offshore more I would have got the 176

Thank you. Yes it was a great boat and IMHO the perfect first boat. If l didn't start a charter business I'd still have it. Key west builds one of the best mid tier boats out there.

Nice boat, question how wide it it says 6'10 online also how wide it the trailer. I only have 7 feet 10 space on the side of my house so looking for a nice bay boat that I can take out a couple of miles offshore on calm days Thanks

I just went out and measured my trailer with the boat on it..Outside to outside the fender well is 7ft 11"

Thank you! I have been 10 miles out in the boat. If you pick your days boat is very capable. I have friends with the same boat that have been 20+ miles on good days. I don’t go that far to be honest because I get sea sick. I do however run it up and down the beaches and bays all the time and it does great. For its size it rides pretty well. It is however more suited for inshore work but it is capable of handling some big water. Not sure if you follow captains for clean water but the key west guys just took this same boat around the state of Florida in 3 days and really put it through some crazy stuff. Again good luck with your search. It’s always the fun part.

Any update on top speed now that it's broken in? What prop are you running?

Now that I have it loaded to fish the best I have seen with 2 adults is 40mph. I will get the prop numbers for you when I get home. I am about to send the prop off to have it balanced and blueprinted. The guy doing the work says it should pick up 1 to 2 mile an hour easy possibly 3

How many gallons is the livewel and is there plenty of room for 2 people to fish. And I really appreciate answering questions in the past. The nearest key west dealer is 5 hours away. Thanks, Chris

The livewell is 15 gallons. It is perfect for 2 people and fishes a lot bigger than you would think. It really is the perfect all around boat. I have fished 4 adults in it And although it was a little tight it was very doable

You can’t go wrong with either one. They both build a quality boat. Good luck and let me know what you end up with. Another thing that I have noticed is the 1720 seems to really hold it’s value. I looked real hard for a used clean one and the prices they were asking was not far off from what I paid for brand new.

Yes I need to find some time to use it. The sad thing is I’ve had it since September 30 and I just now got seven hours on it. It’s a real shame to have to work all the time. No I didn’t really. I was only looking at 2 other boats. The nautic star 1810 and the hewes redfisher 18. I really liked the hewes redfisher but it was out of my budget and I preferred the 1720 keywest over the 1810 after trying out both. Robalo makes a nice boat from what I’ve seen. What model you looking at?

@@ReelinTension What group size / amp hour rated Trolling motor batteries are you using? Which model MinnKota battery charger are you using? Is that a MinnKota Circuit Breaker (attached to the battery in the foreground)?

@@ADAMSDL64 the trolling motor batteries are group 29 the 2 cranking batteries are group 24. Yes that is a circuit breaker for the trolling motor. I can’t remember the model for the minnkota charger but it’s a 2 bank digital
