I've had my 2018 LC 500 for four years. It's not the hybrid. It's the 471 h.p. V8 which is all the power I would ever need. I'm an extremely smart person apparently because I read my Owner's Manual when I bought the car. I studied and learned about the features and even to this day, there are things it does I didn't know about. However, one thing that is covered in the Owner's Manual is VOICE COMMAND. I learned the trackpad is mostly there so you can run MENU/SETUP and select your personal default preferences for everyday driving. The menu takes some time to go through. It took me over 90 minutes. The trackpad is there so you don't have to use it and take your eyes off the road. You can also change your settings as often as you like. Next, I studied VOICE COMMAND. Having accomplished the rare feat the trackpad is hardly ever used. I can call or text anyone. I can navigate to anywhere or any type of store or restaurant. I can change the temperature in the car. I can play any music or radio station. And, there is so much more...all while keeping my eyes on the road. Instead of a greasy, grimy, oily, smudgy, dirty, scratched touch screen that people with low intelligence prefer, we smarter people prefer talking to the car and being safe. Most of us know what can happen the second you take your eyes off the road. Well, maybe dumb people don't know that but people who can think do. But, having read many reviews, I know I'm in the minority. The majority of reviewers moan, groan and complain about the trackpad. Heck, quite a few of them have actually complained about having to pull over and stop the car to change the radio station. Having a room temperature I.Q. must be awful. I can't imagine. Yes, it's possible my ideas are wrong. It just seems to me that if you're going to buy a beautiful, fairly expensive, complex machine you'd want to learn all about it instead of assuming it doesn't do what you think it should do. It seems to me that the thought and effort that went into this amazing car by the designers and engineers at Lexus was world-class. They thought of everything. They built arguably the finest car in production today but people who don't use their brains don't know this. How sad. I would urge every thinking adult who owns or is planning to own one of these awesome cars spends some time learning about it. I mean....when you upgrade your airplane from a single engine prop Cessna 172 to a Learjet 60, who doesn't read the Owner's Manual? These are two completely different machines. Not brand new Learjet pilot would assume he knows everything there is to know about his new plane so why would anyone assume they know everything about the LC 500? Sorry for rattling on but it's pretty frustrating watching a review that isn't honest and fair. Maybe one day a reviewer will appreciate that his job is to learn about the product he's reviewing so he can give an honest and not an uninformed opinion. Nah!! It won't happen.

Very nice review. Bought a 2018 H and loves it. Most people will take the V8 but when you live in a big city the hybrid makes a lot of sense. Still performance is very satisfactory for open roads. Took mine on the German autobahn last month up to 230 km/h with very stable drive 👍

Love it! But a few things improvements that would make it better in my opionion: 1. Better back-up camera system. 2. Float bottom steering wheel 3. Better infotainment system, that supports Apple car play/ Android Auto
@happios5 жыл бұрын
1) they should add a bird's eye view camera giving you a 360 view. 2) flat bottom and smaller steering wheels 3) they have apple carplay standard on the 2019 and you can retrofit it on the 2018 for $199.

2 the steering wheel is actually not round, it’s elliptical.

Quite a car. I am dismayed by the continued use of light colored dash top materials. The glare on the windshield underside, is a fatigue causing feature. I'm surprised there aren't more complaints about this across the industry. Thanks

Another great review. I think the interior could use some wood. I'm just a wood guy. The interior is too monochromatic. As for the power, I remember back in the days when 350hp was actually a lot of power. I know it's power: weight, but my old 225hp Mustang GT was considered by some to be relatively fast for its day for a stock car ('86) - Supra twin turbos aside.
@MichaelBacon2127 жыл бұрын
I think that would have been a great platform for The New Supra. With the V8 in the supra or a twin turbo v6 that puts out over 450hp.

Way too heavy.

I don’t like how Lexus didn’t use the entire screen for the backup camera. Only around three fourths of it. Why? With these wide screen infotainment systems, a lot of manufactures will black out some of the screen for the camera. Alpha Romeo does this with the Guilia way worse.
@JC1306767 жыл бұрын
I'm guessing it's because you'd need a really wide angle camera to fill the screen. Such cameras always have distortion at the edges which will make it difficult to properly judge distances. But I completely agree that a car in this price range should have birds eye view.
@elliottmanning41167 жыл бұрын
That makes sense, or better yet it should have a 360 camera system. Your paying for a gorgeous interior with this car and that's mostly it. At that price, it's missing features, such as a panoramic sunroof, massaging seats, surround view camera, etc.
@JC1306767 жыл бұрын
I don't agree that that's all your paying for. It's also got a gorgeous exterior (although that's subject to taste), good performance while still having reasonable fuel consumption, plus excellent reliability and handling. A panoramic sunroof is nice but gets hot in the sun despite climate control and personally I've never seen the benefit of massaging seats. If you get stiff its a sign you've been driving for too long and should take a break. Still, if you happen to have an LC 500h that you're not happy with just let me know and I'll buy it for a dollar. :-)

Well, if you genuinly feel that getting to 60MPG in 0.3 seconds less is worth quadrupling your fuel/tax costs then that's up to you, perosnally as both are the same price I'll take the 500h ^^
