BEAU Raymond , good on ya mate , had mine for nearly 2.5 years never had any problems or issues over that time , it carries and tows like a train , rides better than most give it credit and very enjoyable to drive over long distances , the wife loves driving it ( she runs over stuff so to speak)can’t speak highly enough of it , Good fuel economy for the engine capacity 9 - 9.5 l/100km loaded with 300-400kg on board. Enjoy your new ute !

Just brought one love it and let’s be honest, if you want a car don’t buy a Ute.

Scott's own personal driving circumstances were used to critique this vehicle. This meant he looked at it from his own point of view, rather than being neutral and look at the BT50 objectively. This subjective assessment by Scott was a little unfair on this vehicle and this genre of vehicle in general. Disappointing review.

Hi GazLowe - thanks for your comments, but the concept of our channel is to look at vehicles on behalf of "Mums and Dads" who might be looking at this type of vehicle from a "fun and family friendly" point-of-view (and not from a commercial purpose point-of-view) and that is why we review it from that perspective. The manufacturers of these commercial vehicles are even recognizing this niche market and are producing commercially-based family vehicles such as the Ford Everest and Toyota Fortuner now. I personally know of several parents who bought vehicles like these and are not using them for a commercial purpose (and several who test-drove them but did not buy them purely because they are not car-like or SUV-like to drive). It may have been a disappointing review to you, but to many parents who have different expectations for the vehicle, I think it was informative. Thanks for watching!

Why keep comparing it to a car! Compare it against other utes in the same class

Hi Craig. Thanks for your comment. We primarily look at vehicles from a "fun and family friendly" aspect on our channel and alot of Aussie families now use these commercial vehicles as "family cars". In that respect we feel its good to mention that unless you need the boot space, alot of 4WD SUV's could do the same job. Thanks for watching!

This class of vehicle is the largest growth market in Australia..the Hilux is the highest selling vehicle in Australia. It is not marketed as a family car..it is marketed as a family friendly commercial vehicle with a one tonne payload and capable of towing 3.5tonne. The majority of SUV's can't do that. It shouldn't be compared to them really.

Hi GazLowe - I agree with you. The Hilux is the highest selling vehicle in Australia (but purely because of fleet sales though), and isn't marketed as a "family car" - but alot of Australian families do purchase them for their huge boots and towing capacity (and do compare them to a traditional large 4WD SUV). There is also a move by manufacturers towards more upmarket versions of these "commercial" vehicles (above A$60K) catering for buyers other than the traditional "tradie", such as the new Mercedes X-class and premium versions of the Hilux and Ranger etc, which are now aimed at "families". Thanks for watching!
