I own one since 2015 I must say this compact SUV is solid built even on the worst of roads nothing filters into the cabin, keeps every one so comfortable at any speeds, but lacks few features for the price point. Overall Duster is an drivers delight car

I can get u complete crackdown of vehicle...duster is a fantastic car to ride.The lowest awd to get but some duster got certain negatives 1) injector, turbo ,evaporator , diesel pump issues persists in duster..the corrosion rate of car is very high.(indian made..) or check on this online...2) built quality not better any body works or paint jobs or any other part replacement means u r going to loose a lot of money.

As an AWD platform, the Duster is unique in the market even in 2018.The Thar and Gurkha are cheaper but the Duster's practicality, drivability and comfort are a notch above.Both the Scorpio 4WD and Safari Storme 4WD suffer in extreme offroading because of excessive kerb weight. The oil tanker sized V-cross is a whale of a car. The AWD variants of XUV and Compass are more expensive, but they offer better features, safety and value.The December 2017 sales figures of Renault shows the brand value of Duster where a brand new product like Captur stands at 227 units & a 6 years old product,Duster stands at 1369!!! Indian customers still prefer a comparatively butch looking SUV ( Duster ) & there are not many takers for a crossover ( Captur ) inspite of the bling factor.With the New Gen Duster coming to India in 2019, the Duster market and sales is only going to increase. Dakshay Jakhia sorry for the late reply and thanks a lot for your good wishes. Well, the mileage depends upon the driving style. Expect ~15kmpl for sedate driving and ~12kmpl with a heavy foot in the city and +2kmpl on highway drives. OTR price comes to ~15L guwahati. The duster scores low on safety, 3stars euro ncap to be precise. It would have scored more if renault had given side and curtain airbags. And no, its a right hand drive car, the file was in inverted format hence the confusion.

Dakshay Jakhia The duster has a stiffer suspension setup, it will work marvelously on plain roads but will bounce a little on uneven patches but still wont be a problem. The duster is a drivers car, it will give u full control on whatever road you are driving on and that acts as a negative for the passengers as stiffer suspension leads to a little bouncy ride. Best you take a TD on both even and uneven roads and decide👍

Duster is not awd its 4wd Awd means all wheels work all time like xuv 700 4wd means u can choose it for certain situations Auto mode in duster is, if the front wheel looses traction the computer automatically turns on 4wd and once you out of the situations it turns off 4wd automatically and returns to 2wd In auto mode duster is in 2wd all the time unless the front wheel looses traction In 4wd lock mode all four wheels are turned on all the time unless you turn it off or the cars crosses speed over 65 kmph to 70 kmph It automatically brings the duster to auto mode

See friend, there are a lot more to off roading, AWD works all the time but with 50% split in both the front and rear in an uncontrolled manner. 4WD is more to than you think. There is a thing called differential locker where you can lock wheels and a lot more. Duster is definitely not a 4WD; its rather a softroader AWD just like the tucson, Santa fe with more GC. For a vehicle to be a 4WD , it has to be a proper body on ladder frame chassis rather than a monocoque chassis. That is the first criteria to be an SUV which is a GOAT too!!!

@@Autokraze I know about locking differential front and rear and many other differentials types But duster is not awd becoz its not full time engaged duster is 4wd its even written In the car itself 4wd not awd (Awd meaning it is full time four wheel drive that u can't turn it off) like old fortuner santafe and now xuv 700 4wd/4x4 is that u can either turn it off or turn it on as u like Like the duster is 2wd all the time But u can turn it on or off And duster has so called electronic locking differential that the company claims which senses free wheel and send power there But not proper locking differential Yes duster doesn't have low and high 4x4 ratio gearing Buts a simple 4x4 without lower gear ratio Like in gypsy thar etc Awd means full time four wheel drive system That u can't turn it off as you like

Does the duster have a 2H,4H and a 4L range transfer case? No, and so its not a 4WD. I am so sorry to dissapoint you, you must be a die hard duster fan but I am not providing the wrong information, i am providing the information based on fundamentals and duster is sure as hell not a 4WD. Its an AWD just like any other monocoque AWD vehicle where obviously a propeller shaft needs to be present to turn the rear wheels too!! and you either give 100% power to front wheels or 50% to both front and rear wheels. And if we talk about GOAT's (greatest of all times) the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour simply shines like a star and if we take things on a more serious note then the Isuzu D Max V Cross will get your eyes rolling when it comes to pure 4WD ability!!!

chunda oram Being a manual enthusiast i would recommend you to go for the manual. The CVT is slow in shifting which takes away the feel of driving, but for sedate driving the automatic is always a winner

dr rakesh Gupta safety is a major issue when you are spending >10L. There is no alternative to the duster 4WD at this price point. So if 4WD is your requirement you are left with no other choice, the creta and ecosport have 2WD only.

This is a simple AWD car with a propeller shaft. So mostly front wheels will be engaged in 2WD mode. Had it been a proper 4WD with low range transfer case and a sperate switch to engage the same then the rear wheels would have mostly been engaged.

deepak jacob no car is perfect. injector, high pressure pump issues arise when you drive your vehicle in low fuel most of the time and dont change the diesel filter. Turbo issue is present but far better than the beat diesel.Trust me on this. As per evaporator, there is nothing to get bad apart from leaking. Its far better than Mahindra's behr made evaporator/cooling coil. Point no 2 is common to all cars. Only thing is interiors could have been far better and capabilites of the AWD could be better.

But for 15 lakhs it should be made with good quality...I got the problem with injector issue..within 20000km. I usually drive with sufficient fuel ..not only for me this issue is common to most of the indian users. I got a group with many people who got the same issues. Or u can check team bhp or consumer forum regarding duster issues. Not only that if u purchase a pair of nuts for battery extension from Renault service centre it costs around 100+GST.for the same nuts bought from Maruti costs around 10 rupees..so buying a bit more expensive car is better than buying Duster. Duster under dacia was successful outside India that's the soul reason y it was made success in India..

deepak jacob true that. Thats the only reason maruti is so successful, they have 100% localisation of parts as well as awesome pricing of spares. Surprisingly MGP products are cheaper than local products available in the market. The only reason other brands are successful is due to the lack of competition by maruti in that segment. They tried to put the blame on the diesel I poured, I got the report from Iocl area manager that diesel got no issues .. four of the injectors were replaced under 20000km.

deepak jacob haha silly renault. Even if the diesel quality is poor then they should make injectors which can withstand that. We as consumers cant go with a quality check meter every time we refuel😂
