A little late for a response but I just picked up a 2018 Toyota Camry and this recall is still active on the vehicle. I haven’t had those messages pop up or the brake light. Should I still get it checked out?

You should just in case. I'm not entirely sure whether they will service it without brake message being on your instrument cluster. But lately I have seen cases where camshafts getting damaged because of this so you should not wait for something to happen.

My toyota chr just hit 160k km. The sign low power brake just appear 4 days ago. Just replaced rear brake pads and fill up the oil and still the warning appears just today. Thanks for the info.

Year and model? If it's 18+ camry and non hybrid. You may have same problem shown in the video. Contact your dealer nearby and provide them your Vin # and explain issue, it may be covered under warranty.

@JD-ml7cg not necessarily. Start control could be battery / starter problem. Worst thing for this issue with starting could be damaged camshaft due to broken vacuum pump gear.

Takes less than half an hour for the job, if you have the part and there are no complications. I am seeing Camshaft getting damaged because of faulty vacuum pumps. Best to take it to dealership in case of Camshaft damage.

@CristianCarrasco-m5p check both available options to plug it in, maybe upside down. Look on the inside of the plug, is there any blockage or rubber grommet misplaced. Send pictures of ins and outs to my email [e-mail] if still no luck.

You need vacuum power for your brake booster from the engine to properly stop the vehicle. You can try alternate vacuum sources (maybe Purge valve) and see what happens. I personally follow factory work only.

I canceled this device and connected it directly to the engine air intake, and the car is now working perfectly. I think the company put this device for consumption only.
