one of our friend had the same issue and has this info it can help Salaam alikum. I had this issue last night on a highway. Think God I was able to manage the situation. I checked online and found that it was a recall by the Toyota. I dropped the car off at dealer since morning but no call yet. This is what I have found. Service brakes, hydraulic: Power assist: Vacuum Recall date 2018-04-02 Recall no. 18V211000 Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2018 Toyota Camry and Highlander vehicles, 2017 Toyota Sienna and Tacoma vehicles and 2017 Lexus RX350 vehicles. During the manufacturing process, the oil galley in the rotor for the brake booster vacuum pump assembly may have been improperly machined possibly resulting in a sudden loss of brake assist. Recall consequence A sudden loss of braking assist can increase the risk of a crash. Recall action Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will replace the brake booster vacuum pump, free of charge. The recall began on May 9, 2018. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371, or Lexus customer service at 1-800-255-3987. Man, I was driving about 46mph, yesterday, I ran a red light and almost got into a big accident, because 6 seconds before the stop lights, my car gave out on the brakes, no matter how hard I braked, my car would not brake and I felt the pressure to push the pedal was immense, luckily there was no car in the stoplight waiting, I only risked the collision factor of running a red light and almost collided with 2 vehicles going the opposite direction, thank god nothing happened, if you ever get a recall letter from your vehicle take care of it right away, as it’s partially my fault, I should of taken care of it early this year when I got the letter. Luckily nothing happened, and I was able to slowly slow down the car and brake when I was going about 5mph, drive the car home and parked it and towed it to the dealership following day. Toyota did confirm the recall issue was in my car, got a rental until they fix the issue. Man this was a scary moment for me

Sometimes it can be a major issue, BUT BEFORE YOU RUN TO A MECHANIC PLEASE TRY THE CONNECTION TO THE BATTERY AND TEST THE BATTERY. This was the issue when my car displayed this message.

I got the low brake power error on my 2018 Highlander. The mechanic said most of the time it is just a default error message and it just means that the battery needs to be replaced. So if anyone gets this message. Get your battery tested out first!

Important::: To temporarily fix the problem, try run the brake booster vacuum line to the purge valve vacuum line by T fittings- once you get the vacuum pump fixed as recalled by Toyota, you can add a safety option , and that is to connect the brake booster hose to the vacuum pump and to the purge valve vacuum using one way check valve and two T fittings as follow : purge Vacc ___T_Chk.Valve__T __Booster This way even you lost the vacc pump you brakes will work 100% -- The vacuum pump is there to stop the car in case the engine shutdown on highway only --Use exact real vacuum hoses for the project- Don't depend on Toyota vacuum pump to provide braking -Connect the booster to intake manifold using check valve to in addition to the vcc pump-- Good luck --

thank you for asking in this car there is a mechanical vacuum pump attached to the car engine it create vacuum to brake booster if the the pump go bad there will be no vacuum and the brake will stiff i will make one more video after i get the part also dont forget to see if you have a recall from the dealer the part coast about 600 to 800 please check thanks

@@BestCarFixes sir did u got the parts and fixed the car yet . Did it worked ? I just changed the cap vacuum pump and vane vacuum pump which is inside the vacuum pump instead of changing the whole pump as it was relatively cheap . It worked for awhile I drops like 20 mills and it turned very hot and broke again . Now I am confuse should I just replace the whole pump or not. I am worried it will again brake my new pump unless I fix the cause of this issue . Waiting for you suggestions

As a export Toyota technician, it’s the vacuum pump, they have a safety recall on this but no repairs active at this time.

hi I found a solution to the problem, please pull out the socket on the brake fluid reservoir switch, if the lamp indikator off the problem is from the brake fluid reservoir, and need to change reservoir assembly

When i bring my car for recall of the transmission they didnt put the nuts in transmission support thats why the transmission is shaking when im driving. Well I got a different problem... 2020 rav4 hybrid, after I changed brake plates and rear brakes, and the brake pads in the front... a bunch of warnings come up! braking power low, brakeoveride malfunction, parkingbrake malunction, pree-collision system malfunction, LTA malfunction, antilock brake system malfunction, and al of them say visit a dealer.... brakes working but not so good as before I chnged the braking pads...

It's the vacuum pump dude. Get over yourself, stop making it out to be something that it's not. Just change the vacuum pump on the side of the motor it's connected to the cam.
