Yea, that clutch lever issue probably is difficult to understand. I am sorry, I can't find the right words in English, it's difficult to explain. Feel free to ask if interested. Anyway. I hope you're still able to enjoy this RAW!
---
My opinion about the bike (same text as below the first upload):
Crap bikes don't exist any more. All new models are basically good machines. So is the 2018 Triumph Speed Triple RS. It's why I won't go into detail explaining all the things which work well. I rather have a look at the bike's purpose and see if it fulfills all the needs for that purpose.
This bike can be considered as the original Powernaked/Streetfighter. Whatever you want to call it. So I'm expecting a well performing bike when ridden somewhat fast with an upright and more or less comfortable seating position.
The Speed Triple RS indeed delivered just that. The Öhlins suspension works flawlessly. Together with the bike's geometry it offers such a brilliant compromise between stiffness/stability and agility. She isn't the most agile bike in the world but you don't feel that in a negative way. Instead she gives you tons of confidence and very decent feedback from the front. I felt 100% confident and safe with the pace you can see in the video.
I didn't ride her for more than 300km per day but during those I had zero issues with my 184cm of height. I really enjoyed the bike's seating position.
This bike is called "Speed" and speed is what it was made for. I'm pretty sure that even on the racetrack you would get pretty far with it.
I only noticed two negative aspects of which only one was also influencing the bike's purpose which is fast riding. It took me a long time to notice but during my 3 day test ride the clutch lever got closer and closer to the left grip which in the end resulted in a slipping clutch actually. I thought something about the ride by wire system was broken when the bike started to sound weird under acceleration until I noticed it actually was the clutch which produced the fault. With a simple push the issue was fixed but it's ridiculous to have this sort of thing happen on an expensive premium bike.
The second thing I didn't like which did not affect the spirited riding was its very high idle RPM level. Which results in the bike accelerating on its own as soon as it hits a certain rev range. This of course is the case on many big bikes but the Triumph's engine runs so smoothly that it doesn't start rattling in the low RPMs to basically warn you. Instead it suddenly starts to pull. Can be a bit of a nasty surprise at first when for instance you're approaching your very first red light without being ready to brake any second.
Overall I absolutely loved my time with this bike. If I was rich I'd get one without hesitating. Although I think the more agile Street Triple RS is even more fun on the road.

disclaimer: I used HTML5 to hack the ECU and manipulate the bikes speedometer in order for it to show random numbers. Sometimes my hack didn't work and I had to censor the speedo in order not to show my terribly slow and embarrassing velocity.

Oi! Please note: the Speed Triple RS has *NO* Quickshifter installed in its standard Austrian configuration. And: I'm not changing the gears like a mad raging elephant. I placed the audio recorder inside the bike for these videos that's why you can hear such a loud and distinctive CLONK noise each time I change gears. Yes, I wanted to add that because you wouldn't believe how much hate I (plus my Mum) were receiving because of this.

Curious if you noticed a bit of front end head-shake at high speed and/or while accelerating? My 2010 did a bit of that and it was quite challenging to keep under control under aggressive cornering sometimes. Not tank slap or anything - just a bit of wobble.

Same thing happened to me on my 2017 SV 650. The clutch was a bit engaged at all times. I only noticed it when it went from 47.5bhp to 76. Freaked me out. But it was just a clutch lever clearance issue, i was relieved, just a bad adjustment.

It's unlucky you had that problem with the lever, I experienced something similar on my wife's F800R but it wasn't a loose clutch lever, it was all the bolts on the front end that hadn't been tightened.. I found out while cleaning it after a 200km trip... I guess QC isn't what it used to be. Anyway I got a Speed 94 "a anniversary version" and last summer I went on a tour on about 5600km one of the days I did 1200+ km. And the bike didn't have one single hickup during the tour, they are great bikes for sure!

Bruh, my ninja 400 slipped as well, without looking into it the dealership replaced the clutch plates under warranty, they test rode it and said it was fine. I drive home and my clutch starts slipping every time I gave more than half throttle.. 🙄

dafebeme2 Hi the first problem I had when I picked the bike up was when the sales person went over the bike with me he failed to replace the seat cowl so it flew off while I was riding home and destroyed it. Which wasn’t a so bad but I was told 8 weeks for a replacement part. Then I had electrical failure all lights stopped working the indicators stopped the horn and all the rider modes failed to work, so the bike went back to Triumph they had it for a week and said it was good to go. So I went to France for aweekends riding then the cruise control stopped working, when I got back took it to Triumph who said that when they fixed the previous problem they cut some wires by accident that worked the cruise control. By this stage I felt ginxed with the bike I also lost all confidence in the dealership full stop so I backed it.
