I own a TE 300 -17 and a TX 300 -18. The TE is pretty much kept original while the TX is heavily modified, stiffer rear spring, Keihin carb, V Force reedcage. High compression cylinder head and cdi from SX 300-kit. FMF Gnarly. I ride the TX on MX-tracks and the TE in often very slow enduro. Love them both. But if I was forced to keep only one, I'd stick with the TE, however with the high comp cylinder head and FMF Gnarly and maybe also the air forks.

What is the difference in the 1st and 2nd gear ratios between the two bikes? How about gearing the bike down overall-at the expense of top speed of course. If a guy doesn't expect to go over 50 mph or so, probably not a big deal. Headlight would be nice for visibility on trail-for other riders to see you and for late returns to the truck. I'm considering an offroad only bike for tight single track to pair with my 500 exc.

I geared the TX down and it still goes plenty fast 60+. A factory head light will plug right in also

Both have kickstands? Stators the same or interchangeable, i.e. adding lights to the TX after purchase?

My last 300 was an '09 KTM XC-W. It was way too soft and would blow through the stroke everywhere. 1st gear was so low it was useless so I had to lower the gears and use 2nd to 4th everywhere. Hauling fast in 3rd to 4th on chop would bring on major tank slap. I re-valved the suspension and it was way better. I then traded it for a 2015 FE350 4 stroke. Awesome bike, really smooth but was way too tame. Picking up a 2018 TX300 tomorrow. Can't wait to ride this thing. Our off road here is gnarly with lots of trees and mountains but we also have a local track and I'm curious how this thing will do on our intermediate tracks, I'll maybe try the pro track with it if feels stiff enough. I have an 18.5 FC-450 as my track pig

The nice thing about the tx300 having air forks is that you can adjust the pressure a bit for track riding. I have been desert racing a bit on the tx lately, It has handled the fast speed woops pretty well. I hope you like it!

Good video! I understand that the gearbox ratio is different between the models. But is the motor character the same? Or does the TE has a heavier flywheel weight or so?

I think It will, our local club is building a small mx track this summer and I'm going to go try it out. The shock valving might be a bit softer than the typical race bike but it will be really easy to adjust the air forks between trail and track. The bike is super light, it feels like a race bike.

I race and ride my TX300 on outdoor national mx tracks, enduros, GNCC, desert, and hare scrambles. The AER48 forks, rear linkage, and power valve adjuster make this the best do it all bike ever made IMO. All you have to do is put in some time testing all the various adjustments.

The TX upper tripple clamp is different and doesn't offer the adjustment of the handle bar positions. Vs TE

I think the rear shock and linkage are different between the bikes

The travel distance in the specs is a little different. I'm guessing the shock is the same with some different valving and linkage geometry. The TX is a bit stiffer feeling

How is the power delivery between the two? Same or tx more aggressive like the MX bike?

The engines are the same, I think the nozzle in the carb is different between the two. The engines feel pretty identical.

The engines are all basically identical with some slightly different carb settings and pipes. The power valve spring and preload are what really changes the power delivery.

I thought TX has a carby and the TE is FI, or am I wrong. Did you know the oil injection pump is supposed to be replaced every 80 hrs according to Husqvarna that seems costly.

these are model year 18. the fuel injected TE was model year 19 that was available august ish of 2018 in the US.

I'm not super familiar with what makes a good supermoto bike. The TX is lighter if your doing stunts but the TE is closer to being street legal

The TX for sure, The TE Wide Ratio trans has a useless 1st gear on the road. Way Too Low. The AIr Fork can be pumped up higher without the need to Buy Springs, I think the FX 450 suggestion is great IMHO

Id Rather have a TX, TX and XC rider always consider the wide ratio trans a good idea till they got one, Then they get to miss the more usable semi close ratio of the TX or the XC. Cant go wrong with either they way I look at it they are usually the same price IMHO the TE give you more Stuff, The TX Gives you More Bike and Less Stuff

Came off a KTM 250 xc, then a 300 xc and went to a 250 xcw. I agree with you about the WR tranny. Seems like I never can find the right gear, even with the Rekluse.

Wait until that oil injector clogs, or the oil pump fails, and you are buying a new pump, injector, and entire motor top and bottom end. At least I know my fuel is mixed when I mix it myself.

Bullshit !! The front forks what ever. You have never had to try to ride in the middle of the night going just off the moon light .. I got in that situation in the Rocky Mountains and I got my butt kicked !! Me personally I would never buy a bike with no headlight

I'm not trying to tell you what bike is best for you. The TE is a great bike with lots of versatility. If the head light is the only complaint you can buy one and it plugs right in. There are also some great head lamp options out there, like in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/raaug3eKh76HgbM
