Excellent riding and review! I have a 2018 TX300 with Lectron and it's my favorite bike even for open desert these days. It does everything I ask and never complains. I'm an average old fat guy rider.
@BobJones200015 жыл бұрын
John Moffett. "Older fat guy rider". Sounds like you are just the norm then so your view of the bike is handy for me. Very tempted to get one of these before our annual March adventure ride. The pre injection version was pretty good, this version looks tasty and I am aware the KTM version is getting really good range from its small tank. Surely better than the older version which we got 120ks on a tank. Had to use a 450 as a fuel carrier for that thirsty beast. Plenty of laughs and ribbing from the boys though when it needed a drink.

Absolute awesome review. Extremely informative. And the locations are all recognisable. All the places I ride 😎 I’ve a 2014 TE300 and am tossing up between a new one or going with a gas gas with the KYB suspension. Have also looked in to the new Sherco. Again, awesome video and review and hope to see you on the trails. Cheers

I've been riding that area since wait for it, 1977 :) I've always loved it. Did you know that where those rock steps are there was a more challenging climb about 200 metres towards Mandalong. Unfortunately it's now on private property. The broken tail light lenses at the bottom of that climb looked like the crown jewels :)
@mazdar1006 жыл бұрын
Is there? The rock climb off of Sxxxx Rd? I know there's a good climb to the right in the way that you were going after the transport section through the gate. My bike has the 4CS forks and after riding the Gas Gas now know their weakness. Don't think I want to spend the big bucks to make the 4CS good.. BTW I got the FastWay linkage guard. Perfect fit and keeps all that needs to be safe, safe..

Did testdrive a 2017 KTM 300 2 stroke. I did like the "turbo" feeling you get when hitting the power band and how it had practically speaking no vibrations. But it did not feel as powerful as my old WR450 even in the middle of the power band so I did go for a 2019 KTM 500 EXC F. The 500 is a beast but also easy to control and light :) I think I would need a 450 or 500 2 stroke to be happy as I am a power addict :)

Injection is fine if everything is sorted from the factory. But another benefit is that when the eventual get-off comes around, being able to pickup the bike w/o gas dripping out of the vents & also being able to start the bike immediately w/o to much time lost is a great asset. Trying to start a hot flooded carburated bike towards the end of a race just isn't fun & injection gives the rider an edge. Everything is sealed up except the gas cap vent. Now if the manufactures would introduce a refined oil injection system that would last 3-5 fill-ups. Then we wouldn't have to carry our mix. Yamaha & some others offered such a system back in the day.
@MaxMustermann-bm7qt5 жыл бұрын
Hey great review, got some questions: 1) Is the fiber glas protection for the expansion chambre bat for the heat distribution? 2) Is the fuel consumption still 2x higher than with a 4stroke 3) Similar to 2) on the injection, is there still oil coming out of the exhaust/ Is there a maybe a diffrent oil map for amateur riders? Cheers, amateur carburetor 2-stroke rider
@darrellsawyer19456 жыл бұрын
Very good review, I enjoyed it very much. I just picked up a 2015 TE300 and am loving it. I am amazed at how good the bike is. The carburettor is perfect I can lug it all day long up the snottiest hills then crack it open and not a splutter, just perfect response. My old Suzuki PE 250 or Bultaco Frontura 360 would have fowelled the plugs with that behaviour . You can feel the brilliant trials bike DNA in this endure weapon. It has breathed life back into this 60 year old Bush bashing fossil. One question. What is the make of you’re over the boot blue riding pants. I got to get some of those. Keep up the good work. I've seen several reviews comparing the TE250i to the TE300i. Most, if not all of them prefer the 250i, usually because it was more than enough bike and the 300i was more harsh/abrupt/too much. Have you had any experience with the 250i?
@MotorcycleAdventureDirtbikeTV5 жыл бұрын
This is really strange, because I was thinking of getting a 250i for my son and all the guys said the 250 was really punchy and more punchy than the 300. The 300i certainly is NOT in anyway harsh as evidenced in this video.
@downhiller0105 жыл бұрын
Have you tried it? I'm actually with the same problem. 250 or 300... Rookie, 5'10", 155lbs coming from a FE350 2019. Wondering if the 300 isn't too much for open terrain.
@golferchin765 жыл бұрын
TE250 has always been for more advanced. You need to work harder because its lower range has little to offer, then the midrange hit and power band arrives in a sudden. You have to be physically fit and skillful to enjoy its tiny advantage over the 300, which is handles just a bit nimbler. The 300 can lug you through even when over geared. Its power delivery is smooth. Youll feel more relaxed, less fatiqued. The 250 feels more nimble but youll need to keep the rpm in the power band. More gear changes and fanning the clutch. Youll be on edge all the time. TE300 cannot go wrong. TE250 will most likely disappoint you.
@downhiller0105 жыл бұрын

I love my 2019 EXC 500 F :) I tried the 2017 carburetted KTM 300 2 stroke and found it lacking in power compared to my old WR450 and many other have the same experience. I think I would need 450 or 500 2 stroke to be happy :) The 2 stroke was fun to ride and I did like the "turbo" feeling you get when hitting the power-band but it was simply just not enough power for my taste.

Love the looks of this Husqvarna TE 300i! The 1 & only thing about it compared to the KTM 300tpi which if I bought a fuel injected 2 stroke is the Husqvarna has that linkage that can easily get banged up in rocks & over large roots? All the places I ride my 2011 KTM-300xc? It was the last year the XC model used the PDS linkless shock? Other than the linkage I love the Husqvarna TE-300i.
