Legal Fiction Natural Fact Men’s and women’s gymnastics can not be compared because they don’t do nearly the same things as each other. Woman can not do an iron cross on the rings, but men cannot do beam. So they cannot be compared.

The most frustrating thing about the US Men's team the last few years is that they are soo great in Qualifications but then fall apart during team finals. They need to work on their consistency like the US Women
@MrCamjay10187
@MrCamjay10187 6 жыл бұрын
This isn't an excuse and consistency does need to improve in mens gymnastics generally world wide BUT, women do four apparatus with a maximum of 8 counting skills, which = 8+8+8+1 (vault) = 25, whereas men do 6 apparatus with 10 counting skills = 10+10+10+1 (vault)+10+10 = 51. Therefore they are much more likely to fall in a competition then their female counterparts. Just some food for thought...

MrCamjay10187 You're point would make sense if you didn't factor in that there are men's teams from other countries who win and win consistently without falls.
@mjamitche5245

trinibwoy27 I agree with you. I can never understand the men's selection of their worlds and olympic teams. Their teams never make sense given the competitions where they are selected and the ones leading up to them. I can never figure out their strategy. I'm out of the loop on what's going on with MAG at USAG, but after the last olympic trials, I remember thinking they needed to fire their selection committee.
@MrCamjay10187
@MrCamjay10187 6 жыл бұрын
however it does make sense because all i said was that it is much more likely for a male gymnast to fall in a competition as they are doing twice the amount of skills... also i'd just like to say that the large majority of these athletes are pouring their heart and soul into this sport with dreams of being as successful as the US womens program, but unfortunately just 'trying' to be more consistent isn't as simple as gym fans like yourself might believe it to be
@tekkenfan01

USA will get a Olympic team medal again, it's the laws of chance and probability, even more so than consistency, they can't keep losing after qualifying so well every time, we know USA men ranked high with the rest of the world, this squad is looking pretty good, we'll know more later this year at worlds

Unbelievable 2.5 twist to a double front. Just amazing Mikulak. I give him so much credit more than any gymnasts very. Especially after a devastating Achilles tear in the Winter Cup 2017 and already he's tumbling like that. Just friggin amazing.

Alec Yoder definitely has astonished me since he was really young and I thought he was so great on pommel 1st off. But all around. Just a clean international look to his gymnastics. And now with world cup experience with event finals in Doha this year on pommel horse and high bar.ook at that 15.150 awesome. World class score.

I watched the European championships last week and I don't know what time commentators are talking about, most of these routines aren't on the same level. They're are not competing at the same level at all. They need to step it up.
@brianpatterson1827
@brianpatterson1827 6 жыл бұрын
ItsM Alex Yoders pommel horse routine was as Tim said world class. No doubt. Yoder could definitely fight the European men on pommel horse for a medal. Maybe he would struggle to get into the medals. But could without a doubt get into pommel horse finals in the world championships. He's pretty solid on high bar as well. Hes just clean. And Yul Muldauer. Sam Mikulak. Donnell Whittenburg, Allan Bower, Kanji Oyama...I can't believe Alex Naddour is being investigated for sexual misconduct. He's just so calm and collected and just seems in love with the sport. I also don't get how USA gymnastics can even be a member of the investigation into this alleged misconduct when they themselves in the past allowed a monster to work on all the little girls. They should have no right. If Naddour is cleared. Then they have another world class I mean really world class pommel horse worker in their team and that's the event USA has struggled in for many years when it comes to generated great scores. Maybe USA wouldn't beat the likes of Russia. But that's about it in Europe as a team. Although the junior gymnasts I'm all countries I saw at the Europeans are gonna be an OUTSTANDING GROUP OF SENIORS!! ALL SHOULD B E SCARED. But remember China and Japan were not at the Europeans either and THOSE 2 countries could crush everyone.
@brianpatterson1827

Also the Oklahoma team, Iowa State, Ohio State, Illinois and Michigan University College gymnasts are Quite impressive. And one or 2 of them could fit the bill to be on the World Team including Yoder and Muldauer. There are others I could name that are also great on events. So I don't think USA is not in the mix. They just need some time and figuring out the new IT crew for worlds and Olympic teams

The thing about US mens gymnastics is the always have ONE star. The US is not super competitive without that star. The womens program is still competitive without Biles, she just makes them stronger. They will never have another moment like 1984 if they continue to focus on one guy

Andrea: "Allan, what is it about the national championships that brings out the best in you." The same could be asked about Sam. They're the only reason he even makes it to the Olympics. The fact that he peaks at local meets is his true Achilles heel. Take those away, and he has nothing. Even with a bad back, Yul is more impressive to watch than him.

sorry if this is a dumb question, but I cant figure out for the life of me. Why do a lot of men represent colleges, but you never see any college women at these elite meets? Is it because of age (I notice the elite women are usually in their teens with a few exceptions, and these men seem to be in their early 20s), or are NCAA women not allowed to compete elite as well?
@joyfuljaj
@joyfuljaj 6 жыл бұрын
your age answer is correct. most women peak younger. There are girls who compete elite in college but the training is not the same (I wonder how they do it) as college skills are not the same as elite.
@MD-722
@MD-722 6 жыл бұрын
It's not so much age of peak, but more so age-eligibility for senior competition. Senior competition for women is 16+ (or 15 given that you are in your 16th year of age) whereas for men it is 18+ (or 17, as before), so where most women would have had at least two-three years of senior elite competition in high-school, a man wouldn't be elgible until his final year.

Why do male gymnast represent universities/colleges while women don't?
@biddysews7548
@biddysews7548 6 жыл бұрын
they do just most women don't do elite and ncaa at the same time (although many still do) whereas most of the men do ncaa and elite at the same time, also a lot of the women go into elite at like 15/16 while they're still in high school whereas most male athletes start to compete later (at like university/college age), as a result a lot of women wait until they retire from elite to do ncaa

@MD-722 6 жыл бұрын
It's not so much because of peaking ages, it's because men aren't elligible for senior competition until they are 18 as oppose to women, who are at 16.
@LoyaFrostwind
@LoyaFrostwind 6 жыл бұрын
As MD-722, mentioned, the women peak earlier. This is due to biological reasons (females hit puberty earlier than men). However the min age is 16 (labor law limits?). The women would compete even younger if they could (like Nadia Comaneci, before they changed the rules), and China was penalized for having underage gymnasts on the team. The men hit their puberty and peak later, and also have a longer competitive shelf-life. Some men like Jordan Jovtchev (Bulgaria) compete well into their 30s. The only woman still competing at the elite level is Oksana Chusovitina(43 years old), but she's a wonder! :)

I think Akash Modi after his Pommel Horse routine when he was talking to someone either off camera or the guy sitting Down. I swear he pointed down with his hands to his crotch area....probably cuz he saw the slow motion of his PH routine....which was super up close and personal. I mean hard not to be as gymnastics is about looking at gymnasts bodies but they literally like may as well have zoomed in even more on his dick area lmao. Like you could see it moving a little as he circles in that slowmo lmao. I think he was saying like did they have to focus from that direction and like so close to my crotch area lmao..
