Yeah the 2018’ GTI “Autobahn” GTI is well worth the extra cost IMO. With it you are getting more features than what come standard in most $50K Luxury cars. The Base GTI is a nice car but if you can afford the Autobahn its the obvious one to get.

Totally agree. I pick up mine on Friday. Changed a few things in the order. Those HORRIFYING FUGLY RIMS FOR 18...and 17...for that matter! Both years' rims look like the blades inside a blender! HORRIBLE design! I went for the rims that are standard on the R. 18" black Pretorias! I think they look great! And an infinite times better than the stock rims! I had a dilemma. I wanted the Interlagos pattern cloth seats...but not Driver Assist Pkg. There were only 2 Autobahns in the whole country that were Dk Iron Blue Metallic at that moment in time. (I had to get the deal of the $1000. off by 31 Mar or pay that $1000 more for the car I REALLY wanted.) One WITH cloth seats...but a DAP installed. Or one w/o...but only leather seats! Bugger! What to do?!?!? Didn't want the DAP because that is only for no-confidence-in-their-driving-ability-moronic-MILLENIALS!!! I've been driving for over 40 years and luckily, no accidents that were my fault! The DAP is an AI aid for those ppl who have no driving confidence/experience. Don't need the car to adjust my cruise distance. CERTAINLY...don't need the car to tell me when someone's in my blindspot/about to pass me. LOL, definitely don't need the car to park itself...(what a joke!) and LANE ASSIST?!?!?!?!?...are you f'n KIDDING ME?!?!?!?! If you need THAT...you should NOT be holding a valid driver's license!!!! No...the DAP is ALL AI. It's tantamount to training wheels for a bike!!!! The only thing REMOTELY useful in the DAP would be the Autonomous Emergency Braking System. Some moron walks in front of your car while she's staring down at her iPhone...yeah...that could possibly save me a law suit. Next step...Stage 1 flash...and a total Öttinger body kit. $5400+!!! Ouch!!!! LOL!!!!

Nice but the headlights were nicer on the previous model. Also the tail lights had the same halo motif as the headlights which was a more cohesive design. And whats with the cheap plastic trim around the foglights..? Seems like a mixed bag.

Most people buy gti's for performance and because it's fun to drive. I wouldn't spend an extra 10k on these features but rather get the base model with the iconic plaid seats with the same performance as the autobahn.

Compared to the SE, the autobahn adds: Dynamic chassis control, Adaptive cruise control, overhead view camera, park pilot, park assist, lane assist, light assist, auto dimming review mirror, 8” touchscreen navigation, fender premium audio with subwoofer, dual zone automatic climate control, full power drivers seat, and leather seats,

I am pretty sure there is no DCC(dynamic chassis control). That is only on the golf r.

nathan price I own a 2018 GTI Autobahn and it comes with DCC. It is awesome!

Ben Chesterman Because it comes with a TON more very useful and nice features over a “base GTI”. Yes its more money but its A LOT more you’re getting for that money, well worth the extra money. This is stuff that doesn’t come standard on most $50K cars.
