I bought one of these. Same color... Black interior with led lights. Love the car. Only thing I dont like is no push start or keyless entry.

how is this car treating you? what car did you have before it? how did that old car compare?

@@GUIDE_Nico Unfortunately only had the car for 3 months. A drunk driver in a Ram drove into my wife while at a stop light going a good 70. Car was totalled. Back end was into the back seat. Thankfully my wife was OK, but did need back/neck surgery. The car was great though for those few months. Definitely miss it. Couldn't get a new one because my wife freaked out sitting in a new one. Before it we had a Nissan Altima. I've had many cars through the years and was definitely one is my top favorites. Just a tad underpowered. That was my only gripe.

Hey Gold Pony! Love love love that you have done the Passat T-Line the last 3 model years. I’ve owned a Fortana Red 2016 and a Urano Gray 2017. Both had the comfort and LED package. The LED package really sets the R-Line apart from other Passats. I’m looking to get a 2018 in May/June. How did you like the new 2.0T? Everyone thinks it’s the GTI 2.0T but it isn’t. Glad you could hear the turbo spool! There is a new greenish/blue color that looks sweet. In the center dash where it says “Passat” used to be an analog clock. Sucks that’s gone. Thanks again for the sweet review

vwmatt33 you're like me. I'm on my second one. Turned in my 14 SE lease to buy a 15 SE w/sun roof and small nav and the look of SEL seats without the suede inserts. It had 26K miles and certified for 15.5. But I want a black SE w/tech or SEL. The V6 with dual exhaust look sweet. That lighting pkg gives the Audi look. I'm gonna do the 18 for the warranty before the redesign.

Both the Passat and Beetle got the 2.0 L that is running on a Miller cycle just like in the Audi A4 with the 2.0 L TFSI Ultra. It is tuned for efficiency vs. power. I would like VW to go that route and have the economy 2.0 as an option with 220 hp version of it as standard equipment. I think the 1.8 of the previous year feels better than the current 2.0 does.

would be more intrested if it was offered in AWD (& dont want to buy an AUDI just to have AWD), I live in Central NY & its important. I choose a 2017 Ford fusion SE 2.0 ecoboost AWD. So far so good.

I like the 16/17 model better than the 18 model. Although they are almost identical I don’t like that they took the chrome away on the doors and around the windows. I notice they took the clock away on the dash too.

I test drove one of the few 5 speed manuals they offered for a year or two in the 1.8T Passat. That was a great car with cavernous room.

Nice review but this doesn’t strike me as best in class or a particularly great value. I question VWs understanding of the US market. As Ford and others move to global platforms, VW still thinks they can get away with selling de-contented, dumbed down versions of their cars here. If that was ever true it’s less so now.

I recently bought this vehicle in white. Love the car. It’s a lot slower compared to my mk5 GTI FSI but it’s significantly heavier than the mk5. I currently have put 2257 miles. I have driven the car very slow to “break in” the engine. Is this necessary?? Also... the first oil change is 10k. I feel like that’s a little ridiculous specially on a new motor. Should I change oil at 3k miles?

Ivan Vega Break in is only to 1,000 miles. Even though they run the engines at factory, driving carefully for the first 1,000 miles is a good safe guard. 10k for a first oil change really is a bit much. New cars should typically be changed at 1500 miles then after that as long as you're using a good full synthetic oil, 10k is fine.

My 1.8T 2014 Passat has that same power.. they run a 2.0T in the GLI & GTI and they run more power than that. Can you verify that?

Hey Volkswagen fixed the problem with the stereo with all models car. The stereo is fake. The treble option sound in the car is not clear. The stereo cannot memorize the song after engine turned OFF then after turned engine ON the songs start from begin . The touch screen is not working well. I'm not satisfied from my new car Volkswagen SE 2017. With this problems all models Volkswagen needs recall and repair. Don't sell the cars on the market with this problems.

I have GTI and 2.0t with 220hp. I agree it looks like this engine is pretty conservative. But, First thing is it is a family sedan so probably lower output for better MPG. Second, VW/AUDI always like to write down the power numbers lower than the actual output.
