2018 Yamaha YZ450F Bike Build

Hi and thanks for the video. I wonder if you could build this bike into an adventure dual sport bike, i.e., with street legal equipmennt and set up for longer rides? I'd love to hear your ideas.

I know you’re building a 2018 but I have a 2003 YZ 450 F I’m building for Offroad started with a 54 tooth sprocket 12 tooth sprocket out front and I just put on a steely fly wheel weight what a difference that makes. I think I over geared it in the rear gonna drop it to a 52 hopefully it’ll be better on top end. Sweet Build love seeing this stuff.

Rekluse clutch is amazing off-road! Any of the auto clutches they make are a good choice!

I have the same bike and love it i haven't started making it a offroad bike yet but when i do i will run a set of stegpegs cycra bash plate some good hand gards and a steering dampner i am already running the funnel web air filters thay are a must have for any bike

What about a bigger tank? When Yamaha narrowed the chassis the fuel capacity went down from 2 gal to 1.6 gal? I have a 16 450fx with an IMS 2.5 gallon tank and on real fast terrain she is almost empty around 50 miles. Flexx bars are awesome too. Having to use that pivot mount for hand guards with the flexx bars makes the guards more prone to bending in a tip over. Are you guys going to expand your line of Kenda tires?

Yes, an oversized tank is still an item that will need to be added. Our Tusk hand guard mounts for the flexx bars are thicker and stronger for that very reason. We've had others bend on us so we decided to make our own. Not sure about the kenda tires.

Why not buy a yz450fx? You just spent a grand or so making one and still don’t have as much fuel??

good call. the reason is because the YZ is all new (and improved) for 2018. Maybe the fx will get the updates next year. you still have to buy most the accessories though....JD

Nice. I've ridden the Kawi and there a really good bike. A lot of people talk/complain about the forks but i know plenty of riders who don't mind them. No, they are not the best fork out there but they aren't a bad fork. Once you find a good setting you'll be pumped. Listen to Kris Keefer's podcast on that bike on stitcher. He gives some advice on setting up that fork.~Chase

yea when i was at the found compresion a bit stiff when landing but it was a wet track and i dont like messing with stuff in the wet but i think i am still on the light side for 250f and 125's suspension at only about 60 kg and do you know when rocky mountain will stock sherco parts

18” rear

18" rear is ideal for off-road riding. The taller sidewall is a little more forgiving in rough terrain and the taller sidewall helps prevent pinch flats and protect the rim.
