When I backed out the bolt with my 12mm today I could realize the threading was off so I stopped after first or second rotation then saw a metal shaving fall right down I don’t know how that happened as I simply did one crank to loosen I tightened it back and it still is holding oil fine but now scared to take it out please help

Bike is 2019 yz450f
@highlandcycles2 жыл бұрын
Man, I’ve seen that happen. Not often but it does. It’s probably from a bad casting or something. You’ll have to just take it out. It will most likely jack the whole up but it has to come out. After you do, you’ll need to fix the hole with something like a helicoil or time cert. I like Time Certs for drain bolts because they are stronger and more permanent.

Can any1 confim. Ive been putting in 1l on 2018 yz450f, when i change oil and filter. Just saw a few videos there saying to put in 6 to 700ml?
@highlandcycles6 ай бұрын
I think it’s Lower than 1000cc
@wolfsavage6547Ай бұрын
I have a 2018 right now do not use 600 ml or 700ml use 1100ml ! I ran 600ml an my bike was harder to shift the throttle response was more harsh a the bike was getting hot faster but soon as I added more she ran perfect ! Follow this guy video ! Unless you wanna be replacing valves every few months I guarantee you that oils not getting to the top with 600ml that’s what a yz250 takes

2015+ YZ450F, the owner's manual says to add 0.69 L of oil if changing the oil filter, and 0.95 L if the engine completely disassembled. If you add 1 L of oil (on an oil filter change), what are the repercussions of adding too much oil to the engine?

It will blow the excess out the breather

is this model exactly identical to the 2017 yz450f? also do you know what oil filters/oil I have to get for the 2017 or can I use the same ones you used? thank you.
@highlandcycles3 жыл бұрын
You can use the same filter and oil for sure. The rest of the bike is pretty different

One question? I just bought YZ450F. am not racer and am not gonna use full power like pro riders will do on race day. Do i need to change the oil filter every oil change or i can change it evey 2nd oil change? And do i need to chage the oil every 7.5h or i can go a bit longer cz i never ride with full power? Just some wheelies and fun stuff? Thanks for the advice That wasnt one qustion 😊
@highlandcycles4 жыл бұрын
First of all, congratulations on the bike!! For what it sounds like you’ll be doing, I would change the oil every 10-15 hrs and I’d go ahead and do the filter every time. I know it probably isn’t totally necessary but they are cheap ($5 for a hiflo) and it’s insurance against something weird happening. Hope that helps.
@Nisotovski4 жыл бұрын
@@highlandcycles yup. I will go for your recomendation 10-15h oil and filter change. If my style of riding became more hooligan i will switch to 7.5 as factory recomend. Thanks again and all the best from Macedonia 😊

Question, I just drained my oil in my 2010 yz 450f and put in the 1 quart that it’s supposed to have (from what the owners manual says). I notice that when I start the bike, the oil goes to the top of the sightglass and starts bubbling a little bit. Looks like air bubbles floating to the top. Do I have too much oil!? Need help!
@highlandcycles3 жыл бұрын
Did you drain both drains?

@@highlandcycles yes I did. And put in exactly what the manual said to put in.

Would you recommend synthetic or mineral oil? I've had contradicting opinions at different dealerships
@highlandcycles4 жыл бұрын
Really depends on use of the bike. The only real advantage to synthetic is that it holds up to extreme heat and abuse better and longer. So if you are really hard on the bike and want to go the longest between changes then I recommend synthetic. If you are nicer to the bike and you don’t mind changing the oil, I recommend mineral. Either way though, you need to go with moto oil and not car oil. Car oil isn’t made for clutches.

Rc performance honestly I don’t know the size. I’m not at the shop right now but I just grabbed one from our selection that was a little fatter.
