I personally don’t mind the front end but I am more concerned about the performance. Almost 10 years and we are about the same performance of a integra type r. To be honest, in today’s world we would need maybe 250 hp out of a 2.0L 4 banger small performance luxury sedan

People that complain about everything are annoying. They want luxury interior, flashy exterior, they want good mpgs, they want 400 hp, they want the car to be reliable. Oh and they want it to be cheap. I think this ILX is a really nice car. A naturally aspirated engine with a great transmission like that is what I prefer.
@legacyends3685

Joey N id say that for most car companies besides Honda and Toyota. There luxury brands such as this Acura, and Lexus hold up remarkably well compared to other luxury or performance cars. I’d expect this car to last well past 15 years.
@jrasero23

mmm, you are only as reliable as the tech of the time. We have seen this with Honda throughout 2008-2013 witht heir 3.5 V6 engines that had VCM misfires but eventually that was ironed out after a class-action lawsuit and since then the 3.5 V6 6 speed has been one of the most bullet proof engines out there. We saw this a few years back with Honda and Acura's implementation of the ZF 9 speed transmission which they simply couldn't calibrate right, and while the 9 speed is still a tad wonky they aren't recalling anymore TLX sedans. When I had my 2016 ILX a few people complained about weird shifts every now and then, but it seems since 2016 they have ironed those out.

Look at them side by side! How does anyone think the newest grill looks better? The design of the headlights and grill doesn't flow nicely like the previous model. I've got a 2020 ilx at the moment. I'm single, and I live with my grandma. Literally the perfect daily for a single person. It's got the back seats when I absolutely need it but the size is practically perfect. And the mileage is also a plus. I do regret getting the white, although it looks killer when it's kept clean. Acura is finally starting to get their styling in order after about 10 years. Next steps is that they really need to further differentiate themselves with Honda. There's no reason for anyone to get an ILX or TLX when you look at how great the new Civic and Accord are. Acura sorely needs to add a Type S version to the ILX (with a manual) with more power and/or introduce some sort of entry level affordable sports car that comes in 2 doors. They really need excitement at the mainstream consumer level again.
@MarshalBeard

The problem with the "acura needs to distance themselves from honda" argument is that everywhere else except North America, acura doesn't exist. Everywhere else, this is a Honda ILX. I think the only options are to make acura a global thing and actually separate them, or just demolish acura and make em all Honda's for North America. I think they should all carry the Honda badge. The whole idea of acura in the first place was to price gouge the dumbass north Americans because "its not a Honda, its an acura".

My biggest complaint with this car is the fact that Acura is still building the ILX on the 9th generation Honda Civic platform. From what I have been told and have heard in general the car is great though feels outdated and old. The entirety of the car desperately needs a mechanical redesign rather than just a refresh of just the looks and hopefully Acura will deliver. At least they cut the price on the new ILX by $2k I guess. Kind of miss the old front end design that they had going for them... 3rd gen Acura TL driver here... Other than that its a great car with a great interior I just don't know how Acura could sell a new car on such an old platform for that kind of money with the old infotainment. Great review nonetheless!

If this ilx had the civic turbo motor (they can tune it to put out more power for the ilx) and this dual clutch, that would be awesome. I was researching this transmission and didn't know that even though it's a dual-clutch, it also has a torque converter so it "feels" more like a traditional automatic and has a smoother launch from a stopped position. Would love to drive one.

Acura website clearly states that the Premium package that is required for the A-Spec package, includes "Front Passenger’s 4-Way Power Seat with Power Lumbar Support", contrary to the claim at 6:24.

I see the biggest problem with the ILX persists: the Honda Accord exists. A cursory google reveals that an Accord 2.0t Sport (252hp) can be had for less than the A-spec ILX and the EX-L 2.0t is only a little bit more.

Yeah, this is pretty much the previous civic SI with new body panels and a DCT, not that any of that is a bad thing! 34 MPG with a 7k+ RPM redline? With my wrist injury I've been experiencing a lot of pain driving stick, so maybe I should pick one of these up.

Based on what I’m seeing here I’d rather get a loaded mainstream midsized sedan than this. Same price, more room, better infotainment. The top trims for Mazda, Toyota, and Honda seem like a smarter choice at this price.

I've been a fan for a very long time and I've noticed this with a lot of your videos, thought the viewers would agree with me here. Why don't you guys start the videos showing different angles of the car, or atleast do it in relatively early in the video? For example, you mention the new looks and the taillights early in the video, but we have to wait until about 3:30 until we get to see the first pics of the rear quarter. Just a bit of feedback you might appreciate! :)

Look at your friend sitting next to you, Jacob. Look at the expression on his face. That's the look of a man who would *not* like to get smacked with a dead cat.

We used to have one. They aren't tye fastest cars out there but 6 seconds isn't slow, and they are incredibly fun to drive. 2013-15 had a manual. This car was a more worthy Integra successor than the new Integra itself, too bad it never got a Type-S

This car definitely needs a refresh. Will we ever get a second gen on these ILX thought? Like many people said, Acura needs to differentiate their vehicles from Honda. Would be amazing to see the SH-AWD in this car even if weight is added, and it absolutely needs a power bump! Anywhere below 250hp is fine.

My dad bought a red NSX in 2016 and I love it, it has something special, and my dad was thinking to get an Audi R8 plus, 911 turbo S and he really liked the GTR, the R8 was the best sounding, but the looks of the NSX are better than all of the other cars and is a Honda so is reliable, the only thing it needs is a better exhaust because the sound doesn’t match the power and looks of the car 😅😅 and people told me that it was very crazy because we had one in September of 2016 😅😅

Still on the old 9th generation civic platform. And the fact they did the refresh for 2019, means that the 10th generation platform won't be used until 2021 at the earliest. And the K24 will still be used until 2021.

Even though this is pretty much based off the 9th generation Honda Civic, it still is a nice entry-level premium car to drive~ That 8-speed dual clutch is a great transmission tho~ And while that infotainment system was basically what the 8th gen Accord had 10 years ago, I still think it's solid, it's easy to use, and not too complicated.
