Do you ever get the feeling that no matter how good these cars are, if they have a iconic name like NSX or Supra, people will hate them? The names seem to take on a larger significance than the cars themselves and no matter the product people seem to complain. The NSX went upmarket and is fast as shit. People said it is too expensive. Toyota partnered with BMW to make a small, relatively inexpensive sports car, and people say it doesn't live up to the Supra name. Can we just appreciate that these cars exist at all and are actually pretty good?

No, look at how Nissan handled the R35 GT-R. That's how you do a legend revival. Sure, it had its share of hate and criticism too but in its maturity, it's unanimously regarded as a car that revolutionized the super sports car segment. When you underpromise and overdeliver, people are happy. When you take a Z4 and slap a Supra badge on it and try to justify a 55~60k pricetag with 335 hp, people are going to boo. The new NSX, I actually really like though 👍🏻

At 160K, it's a lot more palatable. Still not a better or quicker car than a 911 Turbo IMHO, but at least the Turbo S to match some of the specs is more expensive (it's considerably quicker again than the NSX, if that matters). It's also just on the edge of 570S pricing, which is a sportier, quicker car as well.
@d1sturb3d1196 жыл бұрын
@@SteveC-Shaman Reliability man. If you have owned any of these high end cars you either pay an upfront cost and have the car work with no issues or pay along the way once that warranty runs out. The McLaren for how fast it is falls apart in no time. Look at their forums. Those cars don't take on a lot of miles and yet have rattles, squeaks, stress fractures on the windshield to leaking coolant. Those are not issues I want to see within 10k miles. I can build a car to perform. Reliability is key if I pay that kind of money. Besides the 570S, 911 Turbo (great option), and R8 V10 Plus, there aren't a lot of other cars that come close to the NSX within that price range. We've seen the NSX take on the Huracan and put the 2wd version to shame. That's a 199k car. The AWD version starts at 270k. The 488 has been taken on and the NSX gives it a run. It's given the Aventador a run as well. I love how underrated this car is to the general public. That is great news for me because this is my dream car. I would have liked to hear more about the interior. Going into detail regarding the UI of that navigation screen, quality of the materials used for the interior, the digital odometer, steering wheel, blind spots/views of the road from the driver's seat, etc etc... To some, this is important considering the price tag of this car. Keep up the great content.

Absolutely love this car!!! I have a '13 Viper GTS and a '17 Corvette Z06/07 and I am honestly trying to decide which one of them I would be willing to trade in on this car. I also own a MY2000 AP1 S2000 (since 2007) and I have owned many Honda motorcycles...........Honda rocks............just not in Formula 1.............yet.......(yes back in the day they did). Anyway, I'm lovin' the Thermal Orange, and the addition of the features for 2019. Still, GM has the C8 coming out sooner or later so I'll make the decision then. I'm glad you hit on the "door sill" part. It is silly (no pun intended?) but a perfect example of how impractical purpose built sports cars are, most are not that comfortable and I enconter many owners that get them as a meaningless status symbol. However, the NSX looks like a very well designed and built car that I would actually consider if they didn't cost as much as a house, though I have not seen one of the new ones in person. Sometimes I wish I didn't 'grow up' and still wanted to own a purpose built high power sports car. I did own a poor-man's-porsche, an MG, so maybe a Miata would do. After I got into fast cars+bikes, I realized fast doesn't do it for me but cornering (driving quick) does. The most fun I have had with SCCA and track days are in making a slow car fast. I think your video on the VFR powered N600 is a good example of that.
