Although it may not look like it, the 2019 Audi A6 is a massive departure from the car it replaces.
Under the hood, the supercharged V6 has been replaced by a 3.0-liter turbocharged unit with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. This new powerplant produces 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque and improved fuel economy of 22/29/25 mpg city/highway/combined. With a massive fuel tank, we were able to eke out well over 400 miles of range and over 31 mpg on the highway.
The A6 isn't overly engaging to drive thanks to light steering and a lack of driver involvement but this can all be forgiven because of how well the suspension handles bumps. We drove the A6 over torn up roads and the car handled it beautifully.
Inside, the A6 features a simple, tech-focused interior with a new touchscreen MMI interface. Voice commands are among the best we've ever tested and really make you feel like Tony Stark talking to the AI in his Iron Man suit.
With a starting price of $58,900 and an as-tested price of $70,490, the A6 is a compelling choice in the mid-size luxury category.
