I work in politics and sat in the back of these many times and talked to the drivers. They are well received by their occupants for the reasons you listed, and they are operated and cleaned by professionals, so all the tech and shiny plastics are no problem. I absolutely adore the classy, understated styling, the room, the comfort, the ambient lighting at night with which you can choose from a whole palette of colors, the massaging seats (I am 6'7"), and the rear wheel steering. It's incredibly nimble for such a long car. Mine also has the upgraded lighting package which turns night into day. With the V8, this beast goes from 0-60 in less than 4.5 seconds, and that's nuts for a 4700 lb, 208" long cruiser. NA V8, no start/stop, no 360 camera, no HUD, no digital clocks, only 1 analog clock and the Lexus Remote Touch system is pretty terrible - hard to believe sticker is a shade under $100k. I think it's because old cars have one mechanical waterpump and one cooling system with a thermostat. Newer ones such as this have several electric pumps and shutoff valves. There is no need to run the whole engine at 90celcius, it is more efficient when they can handle 130celcius but still keep the important parts cool enough. The coolant no longer flows from head to block via waterways either - they have their own coolant flows.

Nothing wrong with Genesis. A fully loaded G90 is $10K less than the price this thing starts at with no options. Sure this is a nicer car, but the Genesis is significantly less costly, more reliable, has a better standard warranty, quicker with the base 3.3T engine, and includes home pickup/dropoff service standard for car maintenance. If you have money to burn, by all means, get the Audi. Otherwise, the Genesis is a better buy without a doubt. Both of them will plummet in value the second you drive them off the lot. When Genesis updates the G90 with the new platform the upcoming redesigned G80 will be riding on, it will be even better. Supposedly there are new, significantly more powerful TT V-6s in development as well. Stop being an ignorant badge snob. Last year Genesis nearly outsold Audi in the US, so it's only a matter of time before Genesis surpasses Audi in sales.

They do not attach Toyota emblems to bmw z4 cars. They do not attach the Toyota 86 emblem to Subaru cars. Disgusted Toyota supporter Japanese.

I have a '21 Audi A8L 60 TFSI (V8). It is incredibly advanced, with tremendous V8 power. 0-60 in 4.4. Any flagship reviewed should be V8. I bought Audi's 10YR B2B warranty. No worries for a decade, which by then, I imagine most all Audi's will be purely electric. This is a very luxurious car and should easily be considered alongside the 7/S. To me, it's a mixture of them both.

I think the four wheel steering is probably intended for a better turning radius.. being that it's a long wheel base vehicle

Random question: Do you think the car's grille is oversized? I live in europe and a lot of people think it's oversized, because the design is oriented at the chinese and US market.

Your 'final thoughts' conclusion on the A8 mimicked exactly how I felt about a 2013 Lexus LS460 F Sport I drove last year. Very serene, a little engine burble from the V8, but the seats, transmission, stereo, suspension all conspired to make a really great peaceful driving environment. I don't know how much the A8 is, but the LS460 was in the upper 30's, and unlike any Audi, I know I'd be ok out of warranty with a Lexus. No way I'd ever own an A8 out of warranty unless I banked on 4k/yr in repair work.

you missed the point of all-wheel-steering: it allows the car to have the same turning radius as an A3. Makes parking alot easier.

In 25 years, you'll go to open that vent and it'll activate the flame thrower instead. Nice to see all this development in the infotainment. Wish Lexus would step up their game. I just want to know how all the electronic shit will hold up in like 20 years... I like the idea of the scent thing, but I'd want it to spray me down with Monster Energy drink... I've had a 2019 Audi A8L for about 2 years. IMO, what he got right in his review: very comfortable, very quiet, reduces stress. A few things I think he missed / got wrong: the all wheel steering is fantastic -- for such a big car, it really helps to be able to make turns in parking lots. When I put it in Dynamic mode and stomp on the gas it puts a huge smile on my face. It's not Tesla Plaid fast, but it's definitely plenty fast for its target market (guys like me in their mid 50s looking for something comfortable). For comparison, it's got nearly 2x the horsepower as my 1989 911 Porsche, and about the same as my 1969 Corvette. I bought the car for one reason -- to drive to my office 6 hours away, four times per year. The trip is all highway, without lights and not a single toll. I average 30.5 miles per hour. You read that right. The car automatically runs on 4 cylinders instead of 8 cylinders the entire way up! The review implied the trunk space was adequate, it is not - it is way too small, and the amount of storage inside the care is abysmal. Perhaps one day I'll be able to take advantage of all the leg room in the back seat. Servicing the car is exceedingly expensive (from the dealer, $118 for wiper blades; $2900 for new front brakes), and I do worry about when it's out of warranty. Had I not had a reason to drive it for work, and been able to take it as a business expensive, I probably would have had a hard time justifying the expense. (Buying it used, CPO, I felt like it was worth it.) It's my first ever Audi... and perhaps my last. I plan to keep it a long time.

Do you recommend owning this car for the long term say 10ish years? How has reliability been for you? Deciding between this and a 2023 Genesis g90.
