I went Philippines last month...and Filipinos love Bajaj bikes.....they are crazy for bajaj bikes even though many other bikes who compete bajaj are available...I felt so proud to see their love for Indian bikes and India...and here we go and run after imported bikes...this bike is the best value for money and its our own Indian bike ....Love this bike

Dominar is much more badass than Duke 390, in my head it's like that Hooligan who has become calm over the years, grown bigger, but if you open it up...YOU know what a hooligan he really is. Duke 390, even with all that power and so less weight feels like it needs to prove itself. It has anger management (heating) issues, it's short tempered (frantic power delivery) and it doesn't really behave (doesn't go slow).

The truth is that none of the motorcycles above 2 lacs are practical, we buy them for their individual "dramatic" character. It's out of place talking about the dominar not doing well due it being heavy, vibey, and having a not so good suspension when comparing it to the ancient relic known as RE classic 350. The problem was that the Dominar was not meant for the kind of people that get an RE classic. Those are the kind of people that just want to make noise and show off and not do much else with the bike. The Dominar is meant for those people who just want a precision tool to do the work, namely tour vast distances in less time and in comfort and that the Dominar excels at. It's a fantastic tourer (except for the small fuel tank). That's the market that Bajaj should have targeted right from the start. Bajaj is doing great with bringing in updates regularly as compared to some manufacturers whose updates are just skin deep or shall I say paint deep.

Dominar is jack of all, master of none. Looks like commuter, has an engine from naked sport, tries to compete with classic old schools. Since its so confused about its targetted audience, audience is also confused about it. I think Bajaj should consider the engine the way they considered 200 cc from KTM earlier. Same engine, but 3 motorcycles equipped with the accessories for the targetted audience in mind.

Dominar is definitely the best choice available at its price segment and even beyond. It is expensive, but fairly priced for what it offers. The bike is visually stunning and has a truly beastly mascular look with comfortable stance and riding position. It is insanely stable on the highways even at very high speeds beyond 110 kmph and inspires a lot of confidence. This bike is not the best choice for tight traffic conditions demanding sharp manouverability, yet it is an immense pleasure when you get open roads and chances to rev harder or accelerate. Overtaking with the Dominar is a bliss and it returns a decent mileage of 33-35 kmpl if driven smoothly. A speed range of 80-90 kmph in the 6th gear delivers the best mileage. I own a Dominar and I'd say it far far better than all the REs combined, except the Continental GT, which I haven't laid upon my hands yet. Definitely a must-own bike if you have money and good roads.

Like I have always told everyone aaround m, instead of picking fights with bikes of other segments, Dominar would have sold crazy if it tried to create a segment of it's own. A Heavy naked sporty like dominar is no way gonna compete with retros and that's a shame for dominar to be competing in that segment. Now bajaj realized it I suppose and is moving more towards the sporty side than the touring side. Dominar can tour alright but it's a high revving motor and it's only for people who like duke 390 or R15 will like the engine not for someone who will be the thumpers.

You are bang on right when you said how quickly we have evolved to like retro bikes. And this is where Bajaj didn't have the foresight to invest in and its surprising because its so obvious that retro segment is doing so well. Instead they went on to make people like what they have created and it doesn't work that way. They are repeating the same mistake with Husqvarna. Bajaj is concentrating on Husqvarna instead of their partnership with Triumph which should have been prioritized. Bajaj is not going to get any volumes from Husqvarna, Duke or Dominar, period! Its Triumph which will change the game.

this is outstanding work from Bajaj old dominar was making 35hp at 8000 and just 650rpm above with the help of dual over head cam this is making 40hp this will be damn quick rr310 is no longer in league with this now. so if the pulsar rs400 comes and will make maximum power at 9500rpm(taking from rs200 power band) then it will sure develop 45ish hp that's so damn fast. in next three years I will be owning both rs 400 and dominar 400 its an oath
