Great video, I have a 2020 X7 with 45000 miles and it is making noise while I drive at low speed over small bumps, this video just gave me an idea of what to look for. Thank you!

That is what gave it away on mine. I let it go so long that braking starting shuddering and it turned out it was also because of these.

Thanks for this video! Tow truck towed my wife's 2020 BMW X7 xDrive40i and used chain hooks to pull it onto the flatbed. Of course now its leaking hydraulic fluid 😤. Dealer wanted $2K to do the job. Forget that. I am gonna order the parts and do it my self. Do you need to do a wheel alignment after performing this job? If so, could you show? Thanks for the video.

Excellent video, thanks so much! Exactly what I needed before tackling this job. Is it possible for you to share the torque specs for the CV Axle and arm bushing?

I need to replace my right rear lower control arm for my 2021 x7 m50i. Is the front installation the same as the rear?

@@NiXFiX No shit?! The bastards at BMW stealership lied to me. Quelle surprise. Ok. This is about the only thing i dont have the means to do so i guess i need to find an independent that isnt ridiculous on labour pricing. Thank you.

@NixFix if the ball joint bolt has to be held in place with the Torx drive, how did you use the torque wrench (with socket) to tighten? I replaced mine using this video (and it was extremely helpful btw), but now have a slight clunking sound at slow speed braking. Wondering if maybe I didn’t get the ball joint nut tight enough.
@NiXFiX
@NiXFiX 3 ай бұрын
@@paulclark1450 once you have the nut tight against the steering knuckle, you no longer need the torx drive to hold it. The torque wrench wouldn't 'click' if the shaft of the ball joint moved. FYI, bmws often make a 'click' sound under light braking as there is a lot of tolerance in the brake pad backing. Is the sound you're hearing new, or are you hyper sensitive to sounds after replacing the arms?

Thanks for your quick replies. I actually got underneath it last night and realized exactly what you just replied, so felt dumb for my question. Anyway, turns out I didn’t get one of the nuts completely tight, so it was the source of clicking at braking Tightened up and all good now!

Regarding the need for full weight on all wheels prior to fully tightening the bushing bolts, would using garage ramps accomplish the same goal?
@NiXFiX
@NiXFiX 3 ай бұрын
@@paulclark1450 yes it would. Note that you can't do the whole job on ramps. But, you could get to the bushing bolt torque step, lower the car, drive up the ramps, and then do the torque (as well as the brackets and belly pans).

@@NiXFiX Instead of driving on ramps, can I just raise the suspension to the highest level to give me room to tighten the nuts from below under full weight?
@NiXFiX
@NiXFiX 2 ай бұрын
@@hamada128 you want to torque the bushing bolt as close to normal ride height as possible.
@hamada128
@hamada128 2 ай бұрын
@@NiXFiX But wouldn't driving over the ramps affect the height as well? Another question, do you think this task is doable with floor jack since I don't have a lift?
