If I'm not mistaken 2.7L is the one who had to be upgraded. 2.7L 4cyl T can be had on a Cadillac sedan with 10spd. It didn't replace 3L TT V6. Cadillac actually have both in similar packages. It appears GM is phasing out 2L T. Why this matter because 2.7L 4cyl will be used in GM lineup to replace either V6 or 4cyl. Basically 4 isn't a truck only motor like 4.3L V6 it replaces on 2nd trim.4.3L can still be had on AT4 and Trail Boss packages.

Metal key unacceptable???? I just bought a new 2018 f150 and this is one of the features I wanted most. I don't recall in all my years of driving ever having a problem with a metal key. On the other hand I know from talking to mechanics the push button start can be very expensive to fix when it eventually breaks down. I'm not a GM or Ford fan boy I simply look for fuel economy and simplicity. I wouldn't buy either of these trucks because of the complexity of their engines. I went with the 3.3L 6 speed transmission on my F150, and am quite happy with my decision. If you want to keep a vehicle for the long term, simpler is always better.

The people that say a small boosted motor will "blow up" or "won't last" are just ignorant of how they're built. They're not just a run of the mill V6 gas motor that Ford slapped a couple turbo chargers on. They're engineered and built from the ground up to be a truck engine, low RPM high torque powerhouses. I can tell you my 2019 3.5 F150 Ecoboost out performs every V8 gas engine pickup I've driven....and I drove them all before I bought.

About a week ago stopped by a Chevy dealer and drove the Silverado 4, first I own a 2.7 Ecoboost that I love, but gotta say if I’d not known their was a 4 under the hood, I’d never guessed it felt quick, quiet and strong. I thought the interior felt a lot nicer than my xl STX and honestly the new Silverado looks better in person. The ride was just as good as my Ford too. I still like the F150, but was impressed by the Chevy. I’d give the new GM engine a lil time to see how well it does, get the gremlins worked out, but I honestly hope this 2.7 4 is a good engine, I’d still prefer a v8 in either truck, but I went price all the way and needed 4wd and a crew cab and I found my F150 for 32,000 with 10,000 off. So far 30,200 trouble free miles and it will fly, also it doesn’t look like a local water company truck.

My theory is just about every Truck out their now Is a pretty good vehicle no matter the make. I didn’t like the new Silverado at first, but now after seeing them on the road I think they have upped Ford on styling, my favorite is still the RAM styling wise is the Rebel, but 50k + is out of the question for me.

You're comparing a crew cab to a double cab and a 6.5 bed to a 5.5 bed. One will have inherent advantages over the other. #AppletoOrangeclickbait.
@Placeitinmybox15 жыл бұрын
@Haywood GiablomiThe 6.5 Chevy can have an advantage over the 5.5 Ford for dispersing cargo to ride quality. Also, look at how unevenly they place the loads in each truck. The F150 has the weight of the engine blocks more forward of the rear wheels but, the Chevy load is pushed further back. I doubt this was purposely done. This F150's bed has less room. This isn't a scientific review. He admittedly said they "wanted to compare downsized turbocharged engines" but, this was not a true comparison of such. Mpg's? The 10 speed Ford has an advantage over the 8 speed Chevy for MPG. Transmissions affects mpg. This video should've waited until September when Chevy mates the 10 speed with that engine. He compares the bench seats of the Silverado to the bucket seats of the F150 and the unknowing viewer would watch this and say Ford has more comfortable seats. 'I saw it on KZbin'. No. Compare Chevy's bench seat with Ford's bench not Chevy's bench with Ford's bucket. Look at how high he sits in the Ford bucket seat compared to how low he sits in the Chevy bench seat. All bucket seats have more buttons to adjust over bench seats. Apples and Oranges. Compare trim for trim and use equal cabs and bed lengths. He even compares the body roll from a crew cab to a double cab. REALLY? Intentionally or not this is click bait.
@rapTorfx45 жыл бұрын
@@Placeitinmybox1 Maybe these are the only trucks that the manufacturers had available to have tested at the time. Regardless, he should have made that a point in the video, and I agree with most of the other points. However, if someone was shopping right now, they'd want to know how the current vehicles line up in terms of fuel economy, not how they'd be in 3 or so months. That test happening now is valid.
@Placeitinmybox15 жыл бұрын
@@rapTorfx4 it would be valid for informational purposes on a separate video. This video was conceptualized on a comparison. I agree with you on what was available. Chevy Silverado it's the Best. Here in Argentina this trucks have a price 70.000 dollars or more with taxes! It's a crazy!!!

I agree, the F150 seems better. But, I ain’t never seen a truck I didn’t like. Except maybe a Tacoma or Tundra. Just can’t get to liking them, and I’ve driven a few.

I currently have a 2017 Ford xlt w the 2.7 and suicide doors - the doors are truly a PITA. I just ordered almost this exact Chevy in the 2020 model year. They’re company trucks so other that a few options and colour I don’t have a choice. The Ford was ok, main problems were a worn wiring harness(truck became immobile, took 1.5 months to source the part and fix, also blew the computer as part of this), burning oil on a cold soak (there’s a tsb about it), and two recalls that never fixed my driver door from freezing up. They replaced the latch last week but charged my company for the repair. Oddly what I will miss most with my Ford is the door keypad. I lock my key in the truck on jobsites or anywhere for that matter, such a great feature I have no idea why Ford is alone on this. And the 2.7 is awesome from a performance standpoint. Like really good. I am excited for the Chevy, 4 doors will be great plus the overall package is better - heated seats are very, very welcome in northern Canada. We shall see what my employer offers for a truck three years from now.

Take the moonroof, crew cab, and fx4 package off that f-150 and I bet the price would be the same if not better than the chevy's

2019 F150 Lariat: $65k 2019 Silverado LTZ: $55k Same equipment. Fords are OVERPRICED
@TateLaPrade5 жыл бұрын
@@andybub45 yeah but you pay for quality. Ford, Honda, Nissan.. There all more expensive but will last longer than Gm and Kia

Andy's Shop I just bought a ford f 150 xlt crew cab for 48,000 and I got it for 40000. They are not over priced lariat are basically just 10k more for just leather

If a ford or Honda is 30k less than a Silverado the ford and Honda are still over priced

I have driven a 2018 Ford EcoBoost and the 2019 Silverado v6 for work. Both set up with large steel caps with tools loaded. Driving sometimes for more than 2 hrs in one direction. I found the Fords ride is by far superior. Also the seats in the Ford are more comfortable. After one hour in the Chevy your shifting your position every few minutes. No need to comment on the performance. You know the answer!

I work for a public utility and drive many miles on fords chevys dodge and gmc and gm products are the most problematic trucks we have. I would never own a gm pos!

I would never buy the first year of any redesigned GM car or truck. Especially one chock full of new technology
@buzztrucker5 жыл бұрын
Yup. Need an established track record on a turbocharged 4 cylinder truck all new redesigned with cylinder deactivation. Don't want to see the potential repair nightmare bills for parts & labor to come with all those "tech" features engineers used to generate those HP and Torque specs.

More things that can go wrong. No wonder why trucks are so expensive. I can't justify putting a 4 cylinder in a full size truck.

You do realize this 4 cylinder is in the camaro that’s been out for a few years now right?

If you are a candy ass you go for the ford, Chevy is a man's truck. However I just bought a 2019 silverado, would not buy a full size truck without a V8.
